Insane CPU

Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition - Core i7 Extreme Edition Gulftown 6-Core 3.33 GHz LGA 1366 130W Desktop Processor - BX80613I7980X
Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition - Core i7 Extreme Edition Gulftown 6-Core 3.33 GHz LGA 1366 130W Desktop Processor - BX80613I7980X

Pros: Insane cpu. It's been years since this cpu was released BUT it's still topping the benchmark charts. Normally I would be badly in need of a better cpu to keep up by now. This bad boy is still going strong!

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I want to say price was a con but I'd normally need a new cpu by now to keep up with the times. Tears through everything I throw at it. So it saves me the money to purchase a new cpu. I'm sure this cpu will be competitive for many more years to come. Was definitely worth the investment.

WD Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I've purchased about 9-12 of these over the years(maybe 3-4 years or so). Not a single one has gone bad on me yet. Performs better than other 7,200rpm drives I've tried as well. The primary reason I give this 5 stars is reliability. Nothing worse than losing a drive then having to reinstall everything.... That's something you don't really have to worry about with this drive.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: This drive's incredible reliability + Newegg's legendary customer service. You really can't go wrong with this purchase.

Excellent Cooling Best Bang For The Buck

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler, 4 CDC Heatpipes, 120mm PWM Fan, Aluminum Fins for AMD Ryzen/Intel LGA1200/1151
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler, 4 CDC Heatpipes, 120mm PWM Fan, Aluminum Fins for AMD Ryzen/Intel LGA1200/1151

Pros: Keeps prime95 tests under 70c and Intel Burn tests under 75c on a i7 3770K with 2 fans push pull on a small OC to 4.0ghz. Very quiet. Running inside a Corsair graphite series 600gt case. All fans on max speed. Can only hear the cpu/case fans if nothing else is making any sound in my room. It's barely a whisper even then. Very easy for cleaning when the dust eventually builds up. The fans come right off and go right back on. The sink is just a big square so it's very easy to use compressed air on it to get all the dust out. It's only $33! Backed by Newegg's legendary customer service! Save a few bucks, get this, and put the savings towards another upgrade. You really can't go wrong with this one.

Cons: The following is not really cons per say, being that most "good" HSFs are this way, but here it is nonetheless. This thing is big. Can block your 1st ram slot if you want to run 2 fans or a single fan on push. If your mother board has this issue like mine did (AsRock z77 extreme4), low profile ram (I used Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 1600 for example) will fix the 2 fan problem with room to spare. It's a bit more difficult to install then most of the HSFs I've used in the past, but it's worth it! The only real con would be that the heat sink can still turn on it's axis or spin after it's been "secured" to the bracket. It won't turn if you just tap it, but anything more and it will. I accidentally moved it around a few times while building my system. Ran prime95/Intel Burn Test for a few hours each. Played some video games. Nothing seemed out of place but, it's still a startling thing to see...cpu's are such delicate things.

Overall Review: This doesn't come with a 2nd fan. Have to purchase separately. It does come with an additional mount for a 2nd fan however. 120mm cooler masters blade masters are supposed to be the same thing w/out the sexy look of the stock one the 212 Evo comes with. Can't seem to find the stock fan it comes with for purchase separately. I use a 4 Pin Fan Power Splitter Cable to connect both fans to a single cpu fan plug. Good idea to check the dimensions of the case you'll be wanting to use this in. It can be a tight fit on some cases.
