Quality Power Supply

ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT 500 W ATX12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT 500 W ATX12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Very quiet and cool. Bought this for an HTPC and it is working out just fine. The 80% power efficiency is a bonus! It supplies plenty of power for the 4 500GB HDD's I have in the box along with a Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 with an Athlon 64 5200+, 2 Gigs of RAM and a BFG 7600GTS. Room and power for two more SATA drives. I love the modular cables, as they helped me keep the case very neat and open for cooling.

Cons: It was not free!

Overall Review: The first brand name PS I rver bought was an Enermax, that was 5 years ago and it is still running strong. I have always admired the quality of their power supplies, and I was confident this one would do a great job.

Most Critical Review

Still on the fence - Read if you want 128GB of RAM!!

ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero (WiFi 6E) LGA 1700(Intel 14th & 13th&12th Gen) ATX gaming motherboard(PCIe 5.0,DDR5,20+1power stages,2.5Gb LAN, Bluetooth V5.2,2x Thunderbolt 4 ports,5xM.2/NVMe SSD,Thunderbolt 4 USB Type-C,

Pros: - Beautifully made MB with lots of features that should be a 5 star item. - You can use up to 5 NVMe drives

Cons: - There is currently no way to run 128GB of RAM on this board using XMP profiles, it will be unstable, fail MEMTEST86 and crash frequently. The ASUS forums have stated this: "There are no 2x64 or 4 DIMM configurations currently on the ROG Maximus Z790 Hero Memory QVL. The "Socket support" column is important, telling you how many sticks are validated, and is currently "1,2" for all listed configurations." - Fairly expensive. - I have not seen a blue screen with Windows in many years, yet I have had at least 6 so far since I built with this MB (about a week now!), so I am wondering about stability issues and hope BIOS updates with get things squared away. I just updated to the latest BIOS (Version 0703) and will have to see if the issues continue. - Armoury Crate software is flaky

Overall Review: - Will not support 128GB of RAM running with XMP profile!!! This should be stated up front! It would be a really nice MB if it were not for the stability issues (see above) and I am not sure I would recommend this board to others right now. If I had it to do over again there were a couple of other boards I would probably choose over this one.

Industrial Strenght USB Hub!

StarTech.com ST7200USBM 7 Port Industrial USB 3.0 Hub - Rugged - Black Metal - Mountable - USB 3 Hub - USB Extender - Powered USB 3.0 Hub - USB Splitter
StarTech.com ST7200USBM 7 Port Industrial USB 3.0 Hub - Rugged - Black Metal - Mountable - USB 3 Hub - USB Extender - Powered USB 3.0 Hub - USB Splitter

Pros: -Solid Construction -Plenty of ports -Provides voltage protection/isolation per port -Great Customer Service from StarTech

Cons: None

Overall Review: This hub does not come with a power supply and the user provided supply wires in via bare wires to a removable terminal block on the hub, but it is a solid connection arrangement that also allows the end user to select the power they need for their application. I use this for an astrophotgraphy setup with multiple USB connected cameras, focuser, high end mount, etc. It is expensive gear and the StarTech hub protects it very well. I can also comment on StarTech support. I emailed then twice and called them. They promptly answered my emails and an knowledgeable tech answered the phone. They helped me select a power supply to fit my needs...from another company!

Very poor product based upon Java

Rosewill RSCM-12002 640 x 480 MAX Resolution RJ45 Wireless N Day/Night Internet IP Camera
Rosewill RSCM-12002 640 x 480 MAX Resolution RJ45 Wireless N Day/Night Internet IP Camera

Pros: It was 70% off!

Cons: The tools provided to configure and run the camera are based upon Java and when you try to run them with any recent version of Java you are warned that it will run with unrestricted access which may put your computer and personal information at risk. Then you click run and get a Java error that complains about a missing application-name manifest attribute.

Overall Review: Do some research and buy a webcam that is not based upon Java. I also went to the Rosewill website to see if they had updated the tools that would work with a recent Java release, and they do not.

Very Nice!!

GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Very easy build, no issues. Running a Phemon II X4 940 oc'ed to 3.4Ghz. 2GB of GSkil 1066 RAM 5-5-5-15 -Lots of SATA ports (they give you a bracket for 2 eSATA ports with a power jack) -AM3 socket for future compatabilty (running AM2+ now, could go to AM3 proc in future)\ -Onboard sound is decent -Tons of USB ports

Cons: None really.

Awesome PS!

CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-750TX 750 W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Compatible with New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready
CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-750TX 750 W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Compatible with New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Its quite, stable and goes about it's job quite well! Great prove for a 750W unit! Lots of SATA power connectors.

Cons: Not really a con, as I knew I would have to deal with all of the extra cable in a mid-tower case, but it was cheaper than a modular PS.

Overall Review: First Corasir PS I have purchased, and based upon this I would purchase another.
