Most Favorable Review

Awesome, but with a few oversights.

ASUS Eee PC EPC1000HE-BLK005X Fine Ebony Intel Atom N280(1.66 GHz) 10.0" WSVGA 1GB Memory 160GB HDD Netbook
ASUS Eee PC EPC1000HE-BLK005X Fine Ebony Intel Atom N280(1.66 GHz) 10.0" WSVGA 1GB Memory 160GB HDD Netbook

Pros: This thing is a quite a bit more powerful than what I was expecting given the magazine and blog articles I read while researching which Netbook I wanted to get, even before I doubled the RAM. Speed-wise, it trounces my family's laptop very noticeably, despite having considerably lower specs. They keyboard took a little getting used to, but it's waaay better than all the others I've encountered. The multi-touchpad is surprisingly useful and has several unexpected and awesome features.

Cons: As awesome as this netbook is, ASUS definitely needs to put a little bit more focus into the manufacturing process. Design-wise, the ports are a bit tight and oddly placed. My big gripes are that the hard drive shield is missing two of it's three screws (which can make it buzz a bit when the hard drive really spins up) and something is wonky with the Windows installation. So far about half of anything I try to install that affects the registry just doesn't take. If I wanted to have to install the OS from scratch, I would have ordered it with Linux and saved myself some money.

Most Critical Review

Waste of time and money.

Koutech IO-RCM630 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Support SD/ CF/ xD/ MS/ MMC. Multi-in-1 Front Panel Internal Card Reader with USB 3.0 Port (3.5")
Koutech IO-RCM630 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Support SD/ CF/ xD/ MS/ MMC. Multi-in-1 Front Panel Internal Card Reader with USB 3.0 Port (3.5")

Pros: It works.

Cons: It works extremely poorly. I got better transfer times over USB 2 using a low-rent generic card reader from Best Buy than I got with this thing over USB 3. I get spectacular transfer times with my USB 3 flash drive, so the ports definitely aren't to blame. It even halved the transfer times on said flash drive. I took a look inside it with a flashlight, and it turns out the actual unit is almost half the size of a credit card and the usb cables are just regular male/male cables plugged into usb ports. Looks like they're sticking the same board in multiple cases and pushing it as different products to me. Regardless, this thing was a waste of my money and the time I spent testing it to verify as much.

Pretty good for the price

TRIPP LITE N002-010-BL 10 ft. Cat 5E Blue 350MHz Molded Patch Cable
TRIPP LITE N002-010-BL 10 ft. Cat 5E Blue 350MHz Molded Patch Cable

Pros: Much more flexible than most ethernet cables I've used in the past and doesn't get stuck in whatever position you twist it into. No irritating covers over the plugs to get in the way when unplugging either.

Cons: Plug gets stuck if inserted or removed at the wrong angle and can be difficult to unstick. This isn't very hard to avoid once you're used to it though.

Overall Review: Pretty awesome cable but the plug issue is bad enough to risk messing up a port, so the rating kinda has to be dinged for that one.
