this board works like a dream!
Pros: i happen to love this boards ease of use and bios upgrades for it. heres my list why i love this board. 1. this board was not a joke compared to the asus sabertooh of the 990fx i had. 2. traditional bios screen everybody knows. 3. this board has the onboard Dolby home theater V4 chip for easy adding to a home theater setting up for anybody having a dolby Digital receiver and supports dolby digital live from the opticial out or what ever source such as a HDMI via video card out put. and you can use your computer for the home theater set up Via a projector if your a home theater nut (like me). 4. it has 2 and i do mean 2 16X slots for duel SLI or crossfire X support and comes with a SLI bracket to get you started. for AMD crossfirex you will need to buy the bracket.
Cons: theres only 1 con for this product. the other one is for laughs. 1. does not come with the crossfireX bracket for duel Crossfire X card. 2. does not come with a receiver to get you started with the home theater area! (this is not really a con)
Overall Review: i love this board. i am glad i got this for the AMD FX 8150 it has not gave out. and the other board i talked about in the pro section. the ASUS one gave out after 6 months and it was due to a Bios in stall. that board started to boot the computer funny. so i when with this board. due to the sound of the name Gigabyte. (gigabyte was my favorite cartoon CGI enemy in the ABC saturday morning of REBOOT series) and it payed off in the end. i think Asus needs to work on the products more then trying to rush it out the door. i would recommend this product for gamers. it works. and it does what its suppose to do.
get this if you dont have a gateway computer
Pros: this worked in my gateway and was the right ram for it.
Cons: but it killed my power supply that was a 600 watt psu. now the computer no longer works
Overall Review: i had to go back to my dell computer that is about 8 years old now.
why i needed this psu (contructing a HTPC)
Pros: here is the reason i bought this power supply there are alot of options for this psu. alot of power connections. you can have up 2 7 hard drives psu 1 for blu-ray drive or dvd-rom you get a option to upgrade to higher cards. such as nvidia 600 GTX series or the new AMD radeon HD 7000 series. this psu give perfect idea for the AMD FX cpu or intel 3rd gen cpus. it can power alot of fans! and does not give out. a must have for those who are building or want to build a Home theater PC. so you can raid 4 or more drives. they now make 3tb drives for 16tb thats a dream for a home theater user who wants the space for the hauppauge colossus card. because the file size for that card is blu-ray size.
Cons: i dont have any cons to give.
Overall Review: here is my contruction build plans for a HTPC. 1 Gigabyte GA-990fxa-UD3 features (DOLBY HOME THEATER v4 required for external receiver) 2 of the ASUS AMD RADEON HD 7770 2gddr5 in crossfire X 4X8 32gb of 1866mhz which i own. 4 3tb of seagate 7200 rpm 6gb/s burricuda drives. 1 blu-ray writer/player (which i own) 1 hauppauge HD colossus card. 1 AMD FX 8 core 8150 (which i own) 1 nvmedia 6000b HTPC black case and windows 8 pro 64-bit (coming soon)
a follow up review.
Pros: this card is perfect i am enjoying it. stable frame rates. no bottlenecks after installing 1000w psu. runs like a dream with the AMD FX 8 Core 8150 cpu. with 32gb of 1866mhz of ram. and i am still on windows vista 64-bit ulimate. here are the frame rates for the games i have. vsync on 1920X1080p battlefield 3 (on auto mode 60 frames @high with medium) alice madness returns (60 frames @ultra with physx to low) blades of time (60 to 80 frames @ ultra) mass effect 3 (60 frames lock down @ ultra) ghostbusters the video game (60 frames @ultra) street fighter X tekken (60 frames @ ultra) medal of honor reboot (60 frames @ ultra) rage has a problem due to programing (30-50 @ ultra) star wars the force unleshed 1 and 2 (60 frames @ max) sanctum (60 frames @ ultra) i know there are more games i own on PC. i have over 1000 games. and still collecting. so its good to go back and see how fast these older games run. this card also loves OPEN GL games. the opengl games run from 15
Cons: this is not a con. there was a problem with my drivers after installing. i found out my diamond card was faulty. so it does not work. i sent the card back to diamond they replaced it already. but the ASUS card did not have a problem with drivers.
Overall Review: i cant wait to get one more of these cards next month! thank you newegg for restocking them. i am building a HTPC ATX with crossfire X. and no i am not sending this card back.
i love this cpu. it does what i need it to do.
Pros: heres why i like the amd FX in a number list. 1. it a true duel core CPU with 8 cores. 2. its 32nm of gaming bliss. 3. in the long run this cpu will be need for future games. 4. its good to have this 8 core. because some simlators games need 6 or more cores. (microsoft flight is one of them) 5. the best bag for the buck. 8 cores 16mb total cache the new intel ivy bridge only has 10 or under cache in MB. 6. has alot of stuff built right in the the cpu. from cool and quiet to alot of exenstions. 7. it does run quiet dont over greese the product. (let the fan work its self in after 1 month. there will be no noise)
Cons: the only con i found was they got rid is AMD 3Dnow tech which was in the AMD phenoms II series and below. i would have loved if AMD would continue to use the AMD 3Dnow tech in side the CPU. AMD 3DNOW 2 would have been nice to have.
Overall Review: i have no other thoughts. i pair this with my Gigiabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboard and never looked back. i been having way to much fun gaming. and listen to music. and this Cpu is a good replacement if you want to do a ALL home theater PC. since its a high end gaming processor and just for the name sake AMD FX. FX stands for effects. thats got to mean something.
this product works! if you can turn of the computer EDID profiler.
Pros: this product does what it was meant to do. split 1 image in to 2. via 1 port. it works with crossfireX mode if your trying to use the happauge HD capture card. and allow you to record both the image with out a black screen. it does allow HD sources. but they both have to be reponding to the same HZ level for it to show. you can configure this via the AMD Cat control panel to turn on the HD to 30 HZ or higher if the other source supports it manually.
Cons: here are the cons for this product. users may have problems trying to configure sources if there trying to record to other source. depending on the game i was trying to use to record this image with it does not like to register with the EDID profiles this adapter is meant for the EDID to be turn to off. or to be run under the General PNP moniter settings. if your trying to capture sound you will need to have other cable that can pass the sound to the device your trying to record. other then that. thats all i can find.
Overall Review: when i first got this product it worked. it allows me to capture as long as i dont try to detect the source of one of the moniters. but when i tryed to capture crossfire X for game footage. it would give me a black screen finally i had to update my sources to read at 30 hz since the capture card i was using only allows 1920X1080I @30hz sources. but it does work. it just takes time to set it up.
