Gamerig and mac fall in love

IOGEAR GCS1102 2-Port DVI KVMP Switch w/ Cables
IOGEAR GCS1102 2-Port DVI KVMP Switch w/ Cables

Pros: Sturdy construction. Pretty good quality cables - good for connecting 2 computers at a single desk (you aren't going to connect across a room with these). Keyboard emulating options are cool and plentiful - but I don't use them. Very easy setup - followed the instructions no issues. Video quality is the same (this was the most important factor for me). Keyboard and mouse response are the same (also important for me). Worked switching my Win7 gaming rig and my macmini. Not an audiophile so can't speak to that - put quality great for my single input speakers and subwoofer.

Cons: Really not a con just fyi: Couldn't get my Naga Razor game mouse to work with the front 'emulating' mouse USB port - not a problem - just used the rear USB peripheral and works fine (haven't tried this but manual says you can shut off mouse emulation which would likely make the mouse work the same as on the rear USB peripheral). Mac just sees the Naga as a regular mouse with a keyboard (that you just ignore) and the PC sees the Naga as it always had (works fine in WOW).

Overall Review: Perfect for my needs - was getting sick of having two keyboards and 2 mice on my desk - cleaned up the clutter and absolutely NO compromised quality of video or peripheral performance. Awesome product! I'll post later if any issues arise. However, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Most Critical Review

FYI new build all new components

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: ...Nicest board I've ever owned! Huge upgrade from my compaq preserio 6020us desktop (duh). I have all my hardware installed but don't know how the rest of the install will go - I'll review later.

Cons: ...Pretty bummed with ASUS solution to following issue: bios shipped with board will not work with my new CPU (AMD64 3200+ E-3 rev. Venice). I don't know how much more research I could have done to determine compatibility of the CPU with this board (ASUS site says 939 AMD 64 processors are supported)?? Tech support said they would send me a newly flahed bios chip 3 day shipping - but I have to pay for the shipping! (if I wanted it sooner then even more money out of my pocket) - this system wasn't cheap - I'm disappointed about how ASUS approached this issue. (fyi to other noobes - the bios chip is easy to remove and replace - you need to buy a $x PLCC chip extractor from your local electronics store - makes this easy - but is it worth it?). I picked this board and ASUS because of all the great reviews and the supposed ease of installation. I'm going to stick with it and write this off as bad luck and inexperience, but right now I'm a little shakey about how ASUS has performed.

Overall Review: Built this system completely new - all from newegg (awesome service by the way - considering my timing of ordering this system during the holidays). I bought this board with the intention of future upgrade of the CPU, video, memory, and RAID. All new from newegg: -AMD64 3200+ Venice Rev.3 -1gb corsair twinx1024-3200cpt -2x eVGA 6800XT 256mb (I hope these work well) -WD2500JS SATA HD -Cool max "SLI" ATX 600w PS -Poineer IDE DVR-110 optical drive -Cool max ATX mid tower

good little clock

SONY iPod Dock/Clock Compatible w/ most iPods, iPhones ICFC05IPBLK
SONY iPod Dock/Clock Compatible w/ most iPods, iPhones ICFC05IPBLK

Pros: Can shut off back light completely. Daylight savings quick switch button. Works. Small.

Cons: With my case my iPhone can sometimes not engage for charge. Only one alarm. Basic fm radio stations.

Overall Review: I just wanted something small that would be a good alarm clock and charge my phone. Works great!

Great XFX cusomer support

XFX Radeon HD 5670 512MB DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 Video Card with Eyefinity HD-567X-YNF3
XFX Radeon HD 5670 512MB DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 Video Card with Eyefinity HD-567X-YNF3

Pros: Recieved this card when my XFX PVT98GYDLU GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP SLI card failed on me after 2 years. My nvidia card died and I set up a support ticket on the xfx website not sure what to expect given past reviews of xfx support. I did register my card when I first bought it - this insures the warranty (not sure if the lifetime warrenty is offered on this card though). Turn around on the online support tickets are around 24hrs on business days. 2 response/replies and I got the go ahead for the RMA - yes I had to pay shipping - but my card was dead so $10 is not that big of a deal. 5 business days there - 3 business days to test and replace (they can send an ati card in lieu of an nvidia or vice verca - I asked for an ati) - and 5 more days to come back (so your looking at 3 weeks give or take a couple of days turn around). The time is a little long but rather than being stuck with a broken card - I got a new one! XFX was true to their word!

Cons: I did have some issues getting this set up as I have never owned an ATI card before and have to run my system memory at 1333MHz to keep everything stable (the 5 eggs are really for the xfx support that I received). I would give the card 3 eggs as it does not offer crossfire support (but given that it was a replacement for an SLI card that I did not plan on running in SLI - can't complain too much - but would have been nice to have crossfire). If you are switching from nvidia make sure you uninstall EVERYTHING nvidia - and keep your updates current for Win7. I did have multiple crashes due to system instablity running at 1600MHz - I dropped my DDR3 memory to 1333MHz and increased the voltage manually to 1.6v and have been running smoothly ever since (sucks that I can't get the full 1600MHz out of my memory but not really seeing a performance decrease)

Overall Review: Just wanted to give you fellow newegger's more insight on the return process for XFX - it's not fast service but it's solid. The more you know right? Wow!

LG W2600H-PF Black 25.5" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 5000:1 DCR with HDCP Support and Height Ajustment
LG W2600H-PF Black 25.5" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 5000:1 DCR with HDCP Support and Height Ajustment

Pros: No dead pixels, great color, can make it bright enough to get a suntan, sturdy stand with height adjustment and base swivel, awesome resolution for such a large monitor - no ghosting noted in the games I play (wow, DoW, Civ4), interface is all touch sensitive buttons (not sure the correct term) which makes for a sleek look, 4 usb 2.0 ports on the monitor - 2 on the side and 2 on the bottom make it easy for me to plug in my headset and gamepad (even thinking of plugging in the mouse and keyboard and running wires behind the desk), and the thing is huge!

Cons: small cons not really cons just minor weaknesses of the product that I knew about going into the purchase: - Only a DVI and VGA input, I always like options and would have liked multiple DVI inputs in addition to the VGA input. - I initially wanted an HDMI input but it seems ridiculous for PC users who run sound through the computer to separate speakers (so not really a con) - If you don't like a big blue light in the lower right hand corner of your vision then you would have to change the settings (really easy to shut off the power indicator in the menu)

Overall Review: I upgraded from a viewsonic 19 inch VP191P 8 ms LCD monitor. If anyone else is looking to upgrade from the same type/size of monitor, and are a casual gamer like me, this beast is so worth it! The size difference is jaw dropping! I find myself having to slightly turn my head to focus on parts of the game - so awesome (sitting ~ 2-3 feet away from the screen)! I was waiting to upgrade my 19 inch when the price was right and the size and quality were right - this was the right call! Newegg was great btw - been a customer for over 4 years and never been let down!

939 upgrade

XFX GeForce 9800 GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card PVT98GYDLU
XFX GeForce 9800 GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card PVT98GYDLU

Pros: price, came with a free game, ease of installation (upgrade from 2 6800XT 256 MB cards in SLI). Now I can play AOC on max (some lag but not as bad as before), as well as play all my other games on max Dawn of War, Oblivion, Medevil Total War!

Cons: none

Overall Review: I wanted to upgrade and couldn't pass up this card - great deal for the price. I'm using an old 939 Asus A8N-SLI premium MB with an AMD Athlon 64X2 2.2GHz processor and 3 gb ram. It did work in the PCI express 1.0 slot and the bonus is I will be able to use when I upgrade my MB and processor in the future.
