StarTech.com USBMBADAPT 6in USB 2.0 Cable - USB A Female to USB Motherboard 4 Pin Header F/F

Pros: Works Looks good

Cons: None

Overall Review: Exactly what I needed. Plugged into motherboard, secured to the case bottom by drilling two holes and running a zip tie around the back end of the plug. I'm running FreeNAS off a flash drive and didn't want it sticking out of my case where it could be pulled out, knocked out, stolen, whatever.

Patriot 1GB DDR 400 (PC 3200) Desktop Memory Model PSD1G400
Patriot 1GB DDR 400 (PC 3200) Desktop Memory Model PSD1G400

Pros: Worked first time - powered up, recognized, no problem.

Cons: None. I'd have been happier if it were cheaper, but not really a con. I suppose we should be thankful that Patriot is still supporting our older, out-dated projects.

Overall Review: I used two sticks of these on an old ASUS P4SD-LA socket 478 motherboard pulled from a 2004ish HP desktop for a FreeNAS build. Did the trick, went from 512mb to 2gigs.

Arctic Silver AA-1.75G

Arctic Silver Arctic Alumina 1.75g Premium Ceramic, Polysynthetic thermal compound AA-1.75G
Arctic Silver Arctic Alumina 1.75g Premium Ceramic, Polysynthetic thermal compound AA-1.75G

Pros: Does what it's supposed to.

Cons: Messy. (My fault, not Arctic Silver's)

Overall Review: For the first time builders, swing by Arctic SIlver's website and read the instructions. They recommend different methods of application depending on the family of CPU you're using.

APEX TX-381-C

APEX TX-381-C Black Steel Micro ATX Tower Computer Case
APEX TX-381-C Black Steel Micro ATX Tower Computer Case

Pros: -Cheap (purchased for $25) -Good styling -4 internal 3.5 HDD slots.

Cons: -Can't think of any. One that' I'm thinking of is cheap hardware, but what do you expect, it's a cheap case. (I re-used hardware from the old HP case who's guts were removed and installed in this APEX case for a FreeNAS build. Also twisted out all the expansion slot blanks and re-used the screw-in type from the old HP case.

Overall Review: Thank you Newegg reviewers who mentioned the 120mm fan. I purchased a fan at the same time so I was ready to install when my order arrived. I had no troubles installing it. Take a flat head screwdriver and "pop" off the front panel. Slide the fan in place from inside, through the HDD cage. I had to relocate the "beeper", however that was no problem as there are about 4 other mounting spots for it. Over all, a great case for the money. I bought this as a temporary case for a FreeNAS build, eventually it will be transferred to a rackmount chassis. As long as you know going in, that this is a cheap case, you should be happy.
