Incredible PBX for CuBoxi4PRO

SolidRun CUBOX-I4PRO Platform
SolidRun CUBOX-I4PRO Platform

Pros: Ordered one of these just to see if we could build a functional VoIP-based PBX on this platform. Turns out this little thing is a rocket ship with performance that gets close to a single core Atom computer. We've got an open source image built now that provides Ubuntu 14, the latest Linux kernel, Asterisk 11, FreePBX 2.11, Apache, SendMail, and MySQL. Almost everything works including WiFi and faxing, and it's a turnkey install. If you can copy a disk, you can do this. Visit Nerd Vittles for the tutorial.

Cons: Still looking for one.

Horrible Router, Worse Service

ASUS RT-N53 Dual Band Wireless N600 SOHO Router, DD-WRT Open Source support, Fast Ethernet, 5 Guest SSID, Parental Access Time control to Each User
ASUS RT-N53 Dual Band Wireless N600 SOHO Router, DD-WRT Open Source support, Fast Ethernet, 5 Guest SSID, Parental Access Time control to Each User

Pros: None

Cons: Read the other reviews. Wish I had. Router causes network interference on wired and wireless LANs and routinely locks up after less than a day of use with ANY of their firmware. RMA process was a nightmare. Over a dozen responses back and forth with ASUS, many repeating what already had been said. Finally, they claimed the warranty expired 3 DAYS after the purchase date. Everything about this company is one big bad FRAUD. Go elsewhere.

Overall Review: Can't believe NewEgg still carries anything from ASUS. Terrible company!

Make an Awesome VoIP PBX

Pros: If you'd like to build a home or SOHO PBX for about $200 with no moving parts, then this is an almost perfect unit. Add an SSD and a stick of RAM, load PBX in a Flash, and you're done. Terrific performance, no noise, very little heat, and even WiFi works. See the Nerd Vittles blog for details

Cons: Zero
