Best AMD GPU I've ever bought

XFX SPEEDSTER MERC319 AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT LIMITED BLACK Gaming Graphics Card with 16GB GDDR6, AMD RDNA 2, RX-69XTACSD9
XFX SPEEDSTER MERC319 AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT LIMITED BLACK Gaming Graphics Card with 16GB GDDR6, AMD RDNA 2, RX-69XTACSD9

Pros: - This card is well made, pleasing in its design, and exceptionally well built. - The lighting on it with the top logo is nice and bright but not over the top. (I'm not a fan of being able to see most PCs from space with the lighting that a lot of them have installed.) - It's solid and holds up well, although it is easily the heaviest card I've ever installed. - Fortunately I didn't have to use the support bar that comes with it (thanks XFX) because of the support built into the case that I have currently, but I did have to remove a front fan to accommodate the size of the card - it is massive! I do appreciate XFX adding it to the overall package though. I'd definitely recommend measuring before purchase. I breezed through the dimensions and thought that my case would easily be big enough for the card, but I was only able to fit it in after removing a fan and only then by just millimeters.

Cons: - Massive size (make sure you can accommodate). - Power requirement (see above comment). Check your PSU before purchasing since it does take the two 8-pin PCI-E power cables. It pulls a huge draw on my 850 watt PSU to the point I'm almost maxed out on wattage with the card and everything else I have installed, although that wasn't entirely a surprise. - It tends to get fairly loud at times under moderate load and really loud under heavy load, much more so than any of my last few cards.

Overall Review: I've been buying and building PCs since the 90s so I've seen lots of the "latest and greatest" come and go. This is one of those items that really lives up to that title. Ever since AMD bought ATI, I've had high hopes for there being a real competitor to nVidia. Only in the last few years has that actually started to happen though, at least in my opinion. These cards definitely live up to the hype. I've been following development of these cards since the announcement of RDNA 2 and their initial release. I refused to give in to the scalper prices during the last couple of years though so I waited until now to pull the trigger on this particular card once it went on sale again. I've had good luck with XFX in the past and would definitely recommend their products again. The last three builds I've had were a double 980 TI in SLI, a 1080 TI, and before this a 2080 TI. All of those were solid cards and builds and I've always been happy with their performance right out of the box. This card blew me away with what it can do in terms of performance. I've yet to throw any game at it on max settings that it can't play easily with a near 60 FPS average (capped) and I've easily broken every personal best in 3dmark and a few other benchmarking tools I use a lot. By broken, I also mean its not even close. Granted - this card out-classes my previous card, but when comparing it to similar builds with nVidia cards, it consistently scores at or usually higher with comparable cards in the same class or category. I'd been hesitant to say that there is finally some real competition to nVidia up to this point, but now I can honestly say that it is finally true. If you are on the fence right now and wondering if you should upgrade, I would without question say yes to buying this card especially with the current sale happening.

Great Cards

EVGA GeForce GTX 980 04G-P4-1982-KR 4GB SC GAMING, Silent Cooling Graphics Card
EVGA GeForce GTX 980 04G-P4-1982-KR 4GB SC GAMING, Silent Cooling Graphics Card

Pros: Awesome cards! I picked these up when Newegg was running a deal not long ago and they were about $30 bucks off. I bought them on a whim, but I am definitely not disappointed. I picked up two of these cards to replace my two R9 280s and even just one of these cards runs circles around my previous ones. With SLI configured, my 3dMark scores increased by over 50% and I've yet to experience a game that these two can't handle on max settings with no stutter whatsoever. Extremely pleased.

Cons: This isn't a complaint about the cards' performance, but more so about EVGA in general. It would really be helpful if EVGA provided more documentation and information on which cards they manufacture that are compatible with the nVidia LED Visualizer. They have very vague and mostly unhelpful information on their site. The list the 980s as being cards that work, but I was disappointed when I got everything hooked up and only the EVGA SLI bridge I bought directly from them glows and works under all of the settings. After doing some digging through several forums, I finally found out that the ones I purchased do not work with it and don't have the LEDs - which I was really hoping for in order to really set off the look of the rest of my case. There's not even any mention of it in the product description. This is the only reason that I didn't score a 5/5 eggs.

Super Bright

LOGISYS Computer ML12WT LED Super Bright Sunlight Stick
LOGISYS Computer ML12WT LED Super Bright Sunlight Stick

Pros: Extremely bright light sticks, much more so than I expected. Easy to install.

Cons: Not really a con, but the power cables are almost excessively long, coupled with the molex adapters.
