Bought 8, No Fails
Pros: Large storage capacity, decent speed.
Cons: Run a little hot.
Overall Review: I purchased 8 of these to put in a RAID 6 configuration. After reading the previous reviews I DBAN'd all 8 drives to insure quality with positive results on all, no fails. Doing this will ensure drive quality, but should not be done without patience. 26 hours per drive.
Teams well with Server 2012
Pros: 4 gigabit ports, low profile.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: Using this in a Server 2012 Hyper V setup. Had two nics onboard so was able to create 3 2Gb teams for virtual nic's with excellent preformance.
Fast and cool
Pros: This processor can take quite a load and still run cool. Burn in on the build only took the proc temp into the 70's with the stock fan.
Cons: None so far
Overall Review: For an inexpensive but powerful server this is an excellent choice.
Works with Ivy Bridge
Pros: Put 4 of these in a new Ivy Bridge build. Excellent speed and works perfectly.
Cons: None so far
Solid RAID card for 8x backplane
Pros: This card works well for an 8 bay hot swap case. Easy to configure and has hardware RAID. has large heatsink and does not get terribly hot.
Cons: The placement on the internal SAS connectors is a bit high for a 2U case. You have to bend the cables almost immediately and can cause some bunching when installing with multiple cards.
Overall Review: I have 8 3TB 7200 sata drives configured in RAID 6. Almost 500MB/s read and 250MB/s write over the network. This card was perfect for the server build. I would not recommend putting this card in a consumer grade build.
