Does Everything I Ask

Pros: It works with several different RAID options as well as pass-thru which allows it to function as a simple 5 bay enclosure if you just want that. Using it in RAID with Parity (Raid 5) with 5 WD 1TB 1001FALS with TLER enabled on them (strongly recommended). Recognized the disks and it was relatively simple to create the array and quick NTFS format it. To build the Array took 14 hours in my case. I've had NO issues with the Raid dropping drives or it failing randomly. And that is after transferring 3 GB of data and using it for streaming video/Music. Running with 32kb chunk and allocation unit size. PCI-E Controller has two estata ports so you can run a 2nd box. My second has been ordered and is on it's way. Adequate cooling with the fan in my warm room. It comes with all the screws for 5 drives.
Cons: Plain design with a bay door that covers the green activity lights. To open the bays, you slide the chrome piece to the right, something not stated in the manual and I was having trouble figuring it out. Easy once you know.
Overall Review: If using consumer HDD make sure you enable TLER or whatever equivalent setting for the drives. Otherwise the drives may fall out of RAID under heavy I/O. Use Advanced Raid Settings under preferences, and turn on Check Pointing. This is a must if you want to power cycle the box. Without check pointing when I power cycled I got 15 hours to rebuild redundancy with the raid running in reduced mode. With check pointing option on, it was 4 minutes to rebuild!!! So if you plan on turning the box off when not in use, I strongly recommend turning on check pointing.
Overall, not bad, not great

Pros: Stable, Raid, SATA. Nvidia chipset (could be considered a con with the LAN issue). Pretty much on par with my other Nvidia Nforce 2 motherboard from Asus.
Cons: GigE stopped working for me after NVIDIA driver install. From what I read this is a common problem. Old chipset, outdated technology. This is 3rd-4th tier gear in 4/06.
Overall Review: Put in my old D-link 100MB Ethernet card and I'm back up and running strong. Disabled GigE and all is good again. This is a box for my parents and overall, will work just fine for them. Considering this box is made from literally left over parts and this Epox board I'm very pleased. I think for power users/gamers there is no reason to get this board at this time.
Works GREAT in RAID

Pros: I have 12 of these running in RAID with no problems. Fast, quiet and WD. What more do you need. Just make sure you TLER em before using in RAID. There is directions on the web.
Cons: Run kind of hot because of being 7200RPM
Overall Review: Wish I had more money to buy more of them and RAID arrays.
Quite the little jem

Pros: Big, 16:10 screen with good resoluation of 1920x1200. HDTV are 1920x1080 and the extra lines of resolution do make a difference. The 800:1 contrast is on the low side but you really don't notice that and it looks beautiful. I haven't seen any ghosting. Stand is wide and solid. No dead pixels.
Cons: Had to turn the brightness down a bit. Hurt my eyes for the first couple of days until my eyes adjusted to it. No height adjust and some slight light leakage on all black screens. But who cares unless your going to be looking at a black screen all the time. LOL
Overall Review: For $299 this is a steal and I really don't see myself upgrading to a 30" anytime soon since there really isn't any reason and the price difference is significant. A higher resolution would be nice, but this monitor is the best bang for the buck out there that I know of. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.
40% Fail

Pros: Nice looking, 8x Dual Layer
Cons: About 40% of them in my stack are failing. My previous GQ (Great Quality) cheapo brand dual layer disks had 0 failures. Go figure.
Overall Review: First bad batch of memorex DL I've had.
Works Great

Pros: Easy to install the drives. Quiet, Stable Raid 5 with WD 1001Fals (after TLER on em). RAID 5 give me a little more peace of mind about securing my data. I tested the RAID 5 features by pulling out of drive and it worked like a champ. Took a while to rebuild the array though. Definitely use check pointing, it will cut down the rebuild times.
Cons: The black shiny coating scratches easily. Found that out the hard way. Also leaves fingerprints. A matte like on the Rosewill box (same thing, made by Sans) would have been better. If you reboot, or turn off the box, it has to rebuild the RAID array which can take 10 minutes to 4 hours. Guess that is just the nature of the beast? Green Activity and Power lights are ugly. Blue or Red would look better imo.
Overall Review: To the guy who said there are no lights. There are activity lights and power lights. Sounds like you got a Newegg/UPS special. The last one I ordered from newegg had the same problem due to being tossed around by UPS. RMA it and call newegg to get the restock fee waived.
