Solid Processor
Pros: - Performance - Unlocked for overclocking
Cons: - Stock heatsink
Overall Review: Many reviews here list lack of hyper-threading or poor performance when trying to stream while gaming. An i5 processor is designed for solid peformance during gaming, but not meant to be used as a heavy load multi-tasking CPU like the i7 series. Encoding for game streaming is very hard on a processor especially if trying to get the best quality video. If you like to play games but have no desire to record/stream then this is a very good fit, otherwise get an i7. I wish they would lower the prices by not including a heatsink. It just isn't practical for high performance processors. With an after market cooler I was able to overclock to ~3.7GHz (5% OC) on a H97 motherboard while keeping the temperature in my ideal range ~76°C under load. I was able to push in to ~3.85 (8-9% OC), but the H97 couldn't push it much further. With a better cooler and a Z97 board I was able to get ~4.11GHz (17% OC) on air and ~4.42GHz (26% OC)
Looks good
Pros: - Integrated cooling looks and performs great: i5-4690k 46°C under load (pump & fans @ 20%) - Basement for power supply and hard drive - SSD mounts behind motherboard - Plenty of cable management loops (and included zip ties!) - Looks good
Cons: - Had to remove radiator to get 8-pin power to the motherboard - Had to bend/twist radiator mount to align holes when re-mounting - Had to remove front cover to put top cover on (lip and alignment pegs on top cover) - Had to remove entire drive bay to mount hard drive - Thumb screws need a screw driver to screw back in (paint causing tolerance issues) - Radiator fan screws are as short as possible (moved fans to pull rather than push, one screw was shorter than the others and could not be used with mount) - Thumb screws for vertical mount did not align properly with a card installed - Case itself feels really cheap
Overall Review: The PCI extension (purchased separately) did not work, and once I get the exchange I will have to tear out the power supply just to put it in. An extra 1/8th inch between the basement and top of the power supply would have been nice to avoid this problem. Hard drive mounting in this case is what I consider dated. It is not a tool-free installation which is fine, but there are no drive trays either. Having to remove the entire cage to screw in the hard drive is not great. There also was no cutout for routing the PCI power vertically from the basement which would have been nice, especially since there are already other cutouts there. The vertical mounted card would look so much better if the power cable did not have to be pulled from the right side of the motherboard. I ran into a lot of little issues along the way when building in this case, which added up to a very frustrating build. I am very meticulous when it comes to the way my finished builds look, and I had to spend a lot more time on this case than I was expecting. This case looks great, especially if you take the time to do proper cable management, but for the how much this case costs ($250) there were just too many flaws. I would not build another computer in this case and would not recommend this case to others.
Good enough
Pros: - Price - Fan options
Cons: - Inconsistent paint - Sharp edges - Poor fit
Overall Review: I have 3 of these in my rack at home. They work well enough for use in the pro-sumer market, but would not work in a professional environment. The 3 120mm fan mounts in the middle are alright but aren't aligned to fit a 360mm radiator, which I had to mount with 4 screws on the center fan slot. There was also some tabs I had to remove to mount fans/rad to the bracket. No real way to mount a radiator to the front due to how the fans are mounted. Paint on two of the three chassis was spotty (clumpy?) but one was nice and smooth. Most edges are sharp and nothing was done to smooth them out. Top panel one one of the chassis did not fit well at all and was difficult to close up again. Ended up striping a screw which I was able to replace.
Great Product
Pros: - Solid feeling keyboard with red backlight - Touchpad feels great and is positioned so I haven't bumped it while typing - Strong gaming performance - Aero Blade Metal Fans with rear exhaust - CPU/GPU located where hands don't get hot when typing - SSD is m.2 SATA - Plenty of I/O - Fingerprint reader - Not "edgy gaming laptop" look - Beautiful screen
Cons: - Backlight is a little too dim for anything but really dark rooms - Fingerprint magnet on the inside - Enter and \ key creates the look of the "large" enter key but feels odd - Numberpad is a little cramped
Overall Review: The refurbished unit I received had an issue with the USB type-C port and the chassis making it impossible to use, but it was easily fixed. With the SSD being m.2 I was able to add a 2.5" drive as well. It's held in with foam and no mounting hardware needed. I tested Doom (OpenGL) with the settings on Nightmare. On the Argent Energy Tower mission I was getting 70-80 FPS in combat.
Fantastic Card
Pros: - Cheaper than O8G - Runs very cool - Solid overclocking
Cons: - GPU Tweak II - DVI Display Problem
Overall Review: I was able to bring my card up to 2114MHz/5508MHz while maintaining 68C using EVGA's software. GPU Tweak could never bring the card above 2062MHz/5508MHz for some reason. Something is wrong with my DVI port as my monitor will have produce random red pixels on blacks. Tried using different cables, but the problem remained. Put my 780 TI back in the computer and problem went away. Solved the problem by switching to DisplayPort.
Great Monitor
Pros: - Minimal IPS Glow - No Backlight Bleed - G-sync simple to enable (Nvidia program detected monitor and walked me through the process) - Able to get 100Hz
Cons: - On-screen Display (OSD) with buttons doesn't work well - Doesn't ship at 100Hz
