Excellent Micro Board
Pros: This board could be the best I've owned over the years. Everything worked as advertised from first installation. 1. RAM clocked and ran at correct speed/timings the second I selected profile1. No fishing around...applied the profile, and I was running at 2133 with CAS 9. I ran memtest86+ for awhile, and I was greeted with ZERO errors. 2. The header placements for fans, SATA2, and USB are all properly placed. I have no crazy cable runs to match this board. 3. The new 3D BIOS is a nice change from the past. 4. The performance has been excellent. There is no concern on this micro board about voltage or power phases.
Cons: 1. Only con...the SATA3 connects sit right in line with the graphics card. If you have a long graphics card, connect the SATA 3 cables before putting the board in the case or the end of the card will make it very hard to attach the connectors.
not much to add
Pros: I could've purchased a new Ivy Bridge CPU, but the 3% to 7% perf increase wasn't worth it. They both have surprisingly similar heat dissipation and power draw. The truth is the overclocking headroom on the Sandy Bridge line is significantly better than these first "too early" Ivy Bridge" processors.
I like the Corsair Force drives...
Pros: I now have both the 240 GB and 480 GB Corsair Force Series 3 drives. I can say without a doubt these drives are incredibly fast and reliable. I've had zero firmware related issues, and performance has stayed strong on my 240 GB drive for the past several months. The 480 is just like it, but with more capacity. I've ran the drives on SATA 2 and 3 ports with no issues. Why pay more for drives that perform about the same?
Exactly as advertised
Pros: I installed these into my G1.sniper M3 board. I set the board to profile1. Speed went to 2133, latency went to 9-11-11-31, and voltage is at 1.6. I burned through memtest86+ with no issues, and I'm very impressed. These dimms have some head room with higher voltage.
Fast, Quiet, and Cool
Pros: 1. This card runs ultra quiet. I've been firing up CIV 5 and the calcs this thing runs usually fires up my graphics card. Not anymore, I can barely hear it, and my room is no longer 10 degrees too hot. 2. I can say this was a big jump from a GTX 560. Everything is running smoother and framerate is significantly better.
Cons: 1. Sleep issue...don't put the monitor to sleep. Still a problem with the new RADEONs...not specific to gigabtye.
Best Fan I've Ever Used
Pros: This is the highest quality fan I've ever used. I've had dozen's of fan types from Delta to Scythe, but this is the best mix of near silence and airflow I've seen to date. Even picking up the fan, I can feel the weight difference. These are made of sturdy and high quality materials. They move a tremendous amount of air for how quiet they are. I have three on my Lian Li PC-V353a case. Two in the front and one on my Prolimatech Samuel 17 cooler. I couldn't be happier.
