Thoughts on Asus 1000HE

Pros: I've had my 1000HE for about a month, and my overall thoughts are positive. * Battery life is good (although not 9.5 hours, at least not with wi-fi on)... I can squeeze out maybe 7 hours with screen brightness on low and wi-fi on. * Screen is beautiful and can get VERY bright. In fact, I usually turn the brightness down to about 25% and it's just fine for most situations indoors. * Great specs, tons of hard drive space, runs XP very snappily. Great for web browsing, although I have noticed some flash-heavy video streams (like MSNBC) are pretty framey... But YouTube runs just fine. * Easy 2GB memory upgrade. Took me about ten minutes. * Keyboard is comfy. * Hibernates great, no problem. I've had other XP machines that have issues with hybernate, but this starts up VERY quick.
Cons: * Trackpad is utter carp. The touch is WAY too sensitive. I often find myself attempting a drag, but it keeps selecting items as if I am clicking on the pad. Also, have tried the multitouch commands (such as the scroll), but it doesn't work half as good as HP or Dell pads. I think, part of the reason, it that Asus is using some other Taiwanese trackpad manufacturer, not Synaptic as HP and Dell use. Also, the buttons below the pad take quite a bit of effort to click. Hoping I will break these in. * The keyboard sometimes registers duplicate clicks. Not a huge issue, but can be annoying from time to time. * The slip cover is okay, but since you will need a good mouse with this (get the Logitech Nano VX) because the trackpad is so carppy, I would get a nicer slip cover from Case Logic. * It is a fingerprint magnet, but I don't care.
Overall Review: Overall, a great value for the price. The bottom line is, great battery power, good screen, great price. Sure, you won't be gaming on this... But heck, there hasn't been a really good PC game to come out in months anyways.
Good, fast, quality prints

Pros: This thing starts up extremely quick, less than 20 seconds and it's ready for a print job. Printing itself is very quick as well, seems like less than five seconds to print your average web page. Quality is very good for a grayscale laser, and the tone differences are enough to make out most nuances in color images. Really happy with the quality and speed of this unit.
Cons: Well, it took me a long time to get this thing installed. But I felt like a muffin when I realized that the printer was installed all along... Just call me a n00b.
Overall Review: Great printer, great quality, great speed. Not much more you could ask for in a less than $100 printer. I guess duplexing would be nice, but not this cheap.
Good, tight case

Pros: Fits my Nuvi 260W very tightly. Good for protecting the display when I throw it in my glove box.
Cons: Not sure if it's worth almost $20, you can probably get something generic cheaper. Also, might want to look into a larger case that can also house the suction cup, arm, and accessories. It's all a little scattered in my glove box right now.
Overall Review: Overall, happy with this purchase.
