Great Value, Glad i waited

ASUS Laptop M50 Series Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 (2.26GHz) 4GB Memory 250GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS 15.4" Windows Vista Home Premium M50Vm-X1
ASUS Laptop M50 Series Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 (2.26GHz) 4GB Memory 250GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS 15.4" Windows Vista Home Premium M50Vm-X1

Pros: this is a very good product overall, im glad i waited for centrino 2 to come out. laptop runs cooler than any other laptop ive ever seen. power consumption and battery life(2-3hours) are also excellent. gaming is decent, it playes UT3 and COD4 great, and crysis warhead alright. i would not buy this as a gaming machine though the GS is a good card but for serious gaming a GT with ddr3 is a must

Cons: laptop is actually a little larger than 15.4 which is annoying because it wont fit into most cases. speakers kind of suck, only comes with 32 bit vista even though it has 4 gigs of memory and 1 gig of Vmemory. if the laptop gets to hot(left in a hot car in the south) the plastic cover on the touchpad/mouse thing will bubble up a little bit and is kind of annoying. sometimes it will fail to hibernate when you close the laptop and the battery will die, which might have something to do with the upgrade to 64bit i know it seems like there are alot of cons but i do want to point out everything that ive noticed, even with all the cons i think this was a very good purchase and i would not hesitate to buy it again. the problems are small and insignificant and i dont feel that another manufacturer would do much better given the price/performance of this laptop

Overall Review: upgrade to 64 bit vista was painless, the driver disk that came with the laptop had the 64 bit drivers on it and i was able to reuse the oem key from the bottom of the laptop with just a quick call to microsoft. go to laptopvideo2go . com for updated graphics drivers Great laptop and Asus is a great company with great tech support, called them with a simple question a few weeks ago and was on the phone with an English speaking American in under 5 minutes.

Most Critical Review

Graphics so realistic you can smell the flames.

EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card 03G-P4-3661-KR
EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card 03G-P4-3661-KR

Pros: Fast Quiet Power Effecient Like the new power connector location, gives you more clearance at the end of the card Will max out Farcry3 @ 1080p on Ultra w/ 2x MSAA @ 40-70 fps Free RMA shipping both ways *see cons below*

Cons: Would really like to have waited a little while longer to write my review so I could expand my list of pros.... However about an hour into Farcry3 at completely stock settings the computer shuts down. Then starts back up automatically, the GPU fan kicks on full blast and smoke starts shooting out of the GPU exhaust port from the top of the computer(RV-02 vertical mounted MB) followed by sparks followed by what appeared to be fire until I pulled the power cable from the PS.... needless to say the card is now dead and my office is full of smoke that smells of burning electronics.

Overall Review: Received this as a Christmas gift from my wife who did not purchased from Newegg. RMA process with EVGA was painless, almost no wait time to speak to tech/customer support and free RMA shipping both ways. Power supply is a Corsair HX750 behind a APC battery backup so it doesnt seem like it was a power issue. Installed my old 8800gt back in and miraculously everything else still works, thought for sure it would have taken something else out with it. Other than the previously stated cons I loved the card, looking forward to getting a working replacement and will revisit the review after a few weeks with the replacement.

was ok when it worked

Pioneer VSX-521-K 5.1-Channel 3D Ready A/V Receiver
Pioneer VSX-521-K 5.1-Channel 3D Ready A/V Receiver

Pros: Easy setup, plenty of connections, price

Cons: died after 1 day, on screen menu does not work over hdmi..... why have a hdmi compatible received with an on screen menu that doesn't work with hdmi?

Overall Review: Got the receiver in and the box looked fine, did not appear to have been damaged in shipping or anything. Hooked it up, set everything up and it was working fine. Used it for a few hours the first day with no problems, came home from work the next day went to turn it on and it was dead. sent it back for an RMA, cost me $30 to ship. couldn't fulfill the RMA for some reason and just issued a refund. now ive gotta go find another one to buy, i will shell out more than $139 next time. on a side note my current receiver is also a pioneer, no HDMI but a very similar receiver. its about 5 years old and still working great which is why i didn't hesitate to get this one.

great little print server

NETGEAR PS121 Print Server RJ45 USB 1.1
NETGEAR PS121 Print Server RJ45 USB 1.1

Pros: Great price for the unit, i bought for $39 and its worth every penny. Much better than sharing the printer through my desktop. Prints relatively fast, software is fairly intuitive to install and use. Works great with xp, vista x86 and vista x64. scanning is also easier than expected, just open up the software, reserve the printer, and press the scan button on the printer and it pops a prompt up on you screen just like if you were connecting directly to it

Cons: needs to be reset occasionally, ive owned mine about a year and have had to reset twice. seems to happen after thunderstorms when the lights flicker which is understandable.

Overall Review: i am using this with a canon mp530 all in one printer, vista x64 desktop, vista x64 laptop, vista x86 laptop and a xp netbook with no issues whatsoever

great board for the money

ASUS P5B LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS P5B LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: cheap board with alot of features. good overclocking with the newest bios version. surprisingly stable and cool at high fsb speeds. have had this board to fsb 440(1760) for a couple months with my e6300 @3.1 ghz. and i have been running it for another couple months at 1333 with an q6700 @ 3.0 ghz. this board was worth every penny.

Cons: early bios versions wernt very stable and didnt overclock well. if you use the windows based asus ezupdate tool it will more than likely kill your board. i had to RMA mine to asus because of a failed bios flash after about 8 months of use. the tech said he doesnt know why asus offers that tool because it usualy results in an unusable board.

Overall Review: the RMA process was painless and tech support spoke English, they didnt repair my board they just sent me a new one. and it turned out it was a newer revision. ASUS P5B, q6700, geil ddr2-800, 8800gt g92, HEC 750watt ps.

good value

hec Zephyr MX 750 750W Peak Output ATX12V V2.3 / EPS12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply
hec Zephyr MX 750 750W Peak Output ATX12V V2.3 / EPS12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: this power supply has really long wires and all the connectors you would need. could easily be used in a server or a full tower case. in my case the majority of the wires werent used but the PS came with velcro ties that made it easy to tie up all the excess and stash above my dvd drive. also it has a ton of pci-x power connectors that have the rail number that they use printed right on the connector. the fans in the ps are very quiet for the size and i dont even hear them over my vga and cpu fans.

Cons: none

Overall Review: for those people trying to pull the +4 connector off of the 20+4 connector and use it for the cpu power.STOP. there is a separate dedicated 4/8 pin cpu connector. if your motherboard only uses a 20 pin main connector just let the extra 4 sit there. system:Q6700 @ 3ghz, evga 8800gt SC, 2gb ddr2-800, 2 hard drives, 2 dvd burners, & 4 case fans running just fine off of this psu.
