Good bang for your buck

HGST Travelstar H2IK10003272SN (0S03563) 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" High Performance Mobile Hard Drive Retail Packaging

Pros: I purchased one for my PS3 over a year ago and the drive has been running without any problems. The speed is great and the size has been large enough to handle all of my DLC and PS-Plus downloads with hundreds of gigs to go. I imagine that this drive would also work just as well in a laptop.

Cons: None so far!

Overall Review: I just purchased a second for my PS4 since this drive is compatible with both systems and I have been very happy with the performance, so I decided to write a review about it.

Another great GB motherboard

GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Fully compatible with the following components: AMD Phenom II X4 960T Zosma Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB DDR3 1600 Sapphire 6870HD Has USB 3 and a good layout for setting up CrossFire or SLI. I like where the SATA connectors are located. Great performance. I set my drives to AHCI and it worked right away, even though I had Win7 already installed.

Cons: The PCI port for my discreet audio card will be really close to the additional GPU card in a CrossFire or SLI set-up. It may impact the cooling of the second card, so make sure you have adequate cooling if you're not using on-board audio.

Overall Review: Many other reviewers have written about the technical aspects of this board. I'll end with saying that this board works great with my CPU, GPU, and memory. Highly recommended for any AMD user. Also, the price is right for what you get.

Great cooler

Cooler Master GeminII S524 - CPU Cooler with Aluminum Fins and 5 Heatpipes
Cooler Master GeminII S524 - CPU Cooler with Aluminum Fins and 5 Heatpipes

Pros: Short design, perfect for the case the I have (COOLER MASTER Silencio 550 RC-550-KKN1). Compatible with the newest Intel and AMD architectures, such as AM3+. Quiet, but still cools extremely well.

Cons: It's a bit tricky installing. Being top heavy, it tipped over(!) when I was trying to install it on top of a Phenom II X4 960T which freaked me out for a moment. Be careful, if another person is around, have them help keep it in place while you install the back plate.

Overall Review: Highly recommended and perfect for cases with low clearance. Originally I had used "s c r e w e d in" describing the back plate and tagged it as an inappropriate word. I think the improper word detection is too sensitive!

Good for the price

Cooler Master Silencio 550 RC-550-KKN1 Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Cooler Master Silencio 550 RC-550-KKN1 Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Well laid out case with a lot of room to work in. The large hard-drive cage is removable for those extra long GPUs but my Sapphire 6870 fit with room to spare (eventually, I'd like to get one more for CrossFire). I like the layout of the ports on the front of the case: one USB 3, two USB 2, and a headphone jack. When running with a Phenom II X4 960T, Gemini II S524 and three hard drives, it's extremely quiet. Just about everything is tool-less installation which is great (HDDs, DVD-ROM drive, PCI cards etc.). Has rubber grommets for liquid cooling solutions for those who want it. Dust filters for the power-supply intake (pulls air from the floor) and the front fan intake panel.

Cons: The foam padding on the side panel behind the mother board makes it a bit tight routing cables behind there. I had to make the cables pretty snug. If I had a modular power-supply it might have been easier. The foam padding on the panel facing the motherboard will go right up against large Air CPU coolers, so check your dimensions before you buy (I purposefully went with the Cooler Master GeminiII S524 for this reason and it cools excellently). Only two 800 RPM fans come with the case for cooling, which are very quiet, but don't move much air. I have now purchased an additional SilenX EFX-12-15 120mm Case Fan to place in the back and move the other 800 RPM fan to the front to improve cooling. I would recommend buying an additional fan when you buy this case. The USB 3 front panel is not able to plug into the motherboard, I had to route it all the way to the back connectors of the motherboard. Luckily, it was long enough to reach that distance.

Overall Review: There is foam padding on the front and side panels of the case, not the top or bottom. I'm really happy with this case. It's much quieter and roomier than my previous Lian-Li case I bought in 2007 during college. If you're concerned about air cooling, definitely buy an additional fan or even three new ones at the time of purchasing this case. It's strange that there aren't photos on NewEgg yet, but they're easily found on the internet.

Recommended CPU - Bang for your buck

AMD Phenom II X4 960T - Phenom II X4 Zosma Quad-Core 3.0 GHz Socket AM3 95W Desktop Processor - HD96ZTWFGRBOX
AMD Phenom II X4 960T - Phenom II X4 Zosma Quad-Core 3.0 GHz Socket AM3 95W Desktop Processor - HD96ZTWFGRBOX

Pros: A lot has been written about the technical aspects of this CPU, so I'll just stick to my experience. I'm keeping it at four cores and it's handling all of my PC operations beautifully. I like having the dynamic frequency enabled so that when I'm not gaming, the CPU is throttled to a lower speed. I combined this CPU with the COOLER MASTER GeminII S524 and my CPU temp is around 30C-35C pretty much all the time. Under load, I increased the OC to 3.6GHz and it's been running great. Also, I like that it's a true four core CPU. Previously I was using a '06 or '07 Intel Q6600 OC'd to 3.0GHz and I'm really happy with the performance and price of this CPU.

Cons: N/A

Overall Review: I like the fact that it can be un-locked to six cores, but I don't really need them right now. I put this CPU in a GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 and it's been a great match. I haven't come across any problems. Definitely recommended. For my memory, I'm using the Crucial Ballistix sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) and it's running great as well. I decided to keep the BIOS setting to "Un-ganged" since this CPU has two memory controllers (MC), so essentially each MC has it's own stick of RAM to utilize.

Recommended Thermal Compound

ARCTIC MX-4 Thermal Paste, Carbon Based High Performance Thermal Compound for All Coolers, Thermal Interface Material, 4 Grams
ARCTIC MX-4 Thermal Paste, Carbon Based High Performance Thermal Compound for All Coolers, Thermal Interface Material, 4 Grams

Pros: Very good thermal compound. Especially the fact that it's primarily carbon based, so it avoids the problem of creating currents if it happens to seep over the edge of your CPU.

Cons: N/A

Overall Review: I used this for a Cooler Master GeminII S524 + AMD Phenom II X4 960T Zosma setup and even with overclocking I sit about 30C for the CPU temperature.
