Q: I have a Toshiba Satellite S55t-A5161 that doesn't run "hot hot" but it ramps up its fan quite often, only running Skype and such. I have already taken it apart once to upgrade from an HDD to an SDD (<3 SSD) I run it constantly (Sometimes up to 10 days), I have it sitting on a cooling pad that have two small fans pushing air into the laptop, I'd just like to know if I can safely remove my stock paste, and replace with with this paste? With no issues. (I assumed it was simple, then got into different metals, etc)

I did this on an HP Envy with an I7 core and the cpu temp dropped 12 degrees Fahrenheit across the range. I do not have any bench mark software, but any freeware utility that does a registry scan will load the cpu.

I wired (on my first attempt) my water block wrong. I shot the cpu temp to 170F before the mobo shut it down not once, not twice, but 3 times. This is very durable thermal paste. The woman i made it for has had it for 7 months now and she's still reading temps of 90F across all 4 cores. It's also non conductive to electricity so if a little runs over it's not a dire emergency such as Artic Silver would be, since that's electrically conductive. The lower the temp the better obviously.

Q: Is this the best for an all aluminum HSF ? Is there a compound that is better for aluminum ?

i haven't tried too many different thermal compounds but this one is pretty good I use it with a fx6300 on a hyper 212 evo and get around 20c doing basic tasks around 50 under load.

Q: Would I be able to use this under the IHS on a core i7 7700K or is it too hot for this paste?

So you are delidding it? MX-4 should be fine, but if you are going to the trouble for that try the Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut. I haven't done this but it looks like the preferred one to use. Either way, looks like you should make sure you get 100% coverage on the die.

Maybe a reformulation or it is anniversary packaging. In any case it is still an excellent paste.

We used this for two CPUs so I would say "yes" because there was still some left over.  The servers this was used in have worked well.

Use very little, no more than a grain of rice. Seriously. A little goes a long way when the heatsink/waterblock presses against the CPU/GPU.

Personally, I like to pre-spread the compound to prevent any air bubbles, which would turn into hot spots on the CPU/GPU, degrading performance.

ya it would be ok, i have socket'd 4 cpu's  and still have well over half, and about to use it on a gpu very soon.

No, it has no curing time. The curing time on AS5 can also be heavily reduced or even eliminated by reading the manual that comes with it and applying the Tinting method.

Does this also work with GPUs?

Yes, just be sure the heatsink or waterblock you are using is made for direct contact to the GPU vs a thermal pad.  I used this MX-4 on my two GTX-780s with Watercool heatkiller waterblocks and it works great.  The heatkiller uses direct contact on the GPU and thermal pads for the memory and VRMs.  Both cards are overclocked in SLI and do not go over 37C.
