Logitech is back on top!
Pros: Logitech construction quality, big cups surround my ear fully, very comfortable playing 6+ hrs of Starcraft at a time. Cord is durable (shoelace like material). Mic is good quality, decent bass (these are not Beats) excellent mids, and highs. Really shines with my Creative X-Fi Titanium sound card.
Cons: Only comes in red, lol.
Overall Review: I'd been getting desperate looking for a good analog headset (read doesn't use the USB audio layer) to take advantage of my sound card. Was trying not to break the bank, but also not get cheap build quality. Logitech of course came to my rescue. Saw these at Best Buy and then checked Newegg on my phone., found out they were same price as Newegg. Eh whatever I'll be a good American and pay some taxes for instant gratification.
Not terrible, but still unacceptable.
Pros: Purchased 2x of these as lightweight public usage terminals. Decent CPU, 4GB RAM is fine for the 32 bit Win 7, decent performance all around. Great performance for an unbeatable price.
Cons: One machine was delivered with a failing hard drive. Lots of clicking noise. SMART data confirmed imminent failure. Luckily I had an extra drive sitting around. Bundled keyboard and mouse are complete and utter garbage so I went out and purchased a pair for $10 Logitech keyboard and mouse sets.
Overall Review: This is my first foray into refurbished computers. So far a 50% failure rate. Maybe just bad luck?
Horrible unreliable screen
Pros: good specs on paper only
Cons: I bought this laptop at the request of my boss who wanted something lighter to carry while traveling. Unfortunately the laptop developed screen flicker issues after 4 months. I contacted Lenovo who replaced the screen under warranty which took about 3 weeks between waiting for them to send the box, send the laptop in to them, they had to wait for parts to come in stock, repair, and ship it back. When the laptop came back, my boss said he didn't want the computer anymore because he had purchased something else in the mean time and said I could keep it as my new company laptop. So I have been using the machine for maybe 2 months since it came back from the service center and the same screen flicker nonsense is back. I feel so cheated by Lenovo on this laptop. If you take a quick visit to the Lenovo forums you can easily find dozens of similar complaints across many product lines. In summation this laptop is unreliable junk and I will never buy Lenovo again.
Great but not perfect
Pros: Great laptop lots of horsepower. Runs most games on max. Excellent build quality and lots of cooling. Never feels warm to the tough. Underside panel also comes off easy for upgraded hard drive and ram. Also the backlit keyboard is lovely.
Cons: These are all minor gripes that don't really affect me. I have already recommended this laptop to several friends. Other friends who have seen mine in person are very impressed. 1. First laptop I ordered had the 8 key on numpad not working so had to return, but Newegg has awesome customer service as always so no complaints there. 2. The default hard drive is terribly slow, but my first order of business was to install Samsung SSD with clean install of Windows 8 anyway. 3. The touchpad is hyper sensitive, but I always use this laptop with Logitech mouse so my touchpad is disables anyway 4. The DVD drive does feel flimsy but I never use it anyway
Overall Review: As long as you install an SSD this laptop is basically perfect.
big and nice
Pros: So big inside. Quality construction. Cable management dream come true. Also dust filters everywhere make my life easy.
Cons: Some of the default fans aren't amazing, but they do the job. Eventually I did upgrade them but that's because I am air cooling OCD sometimes.
freezing cold
Pros: Great card, ACX cooler keeps it nice and cool. Typically dual monitor gaming and netflix. Max settings at 1920x1080 paired up with an AMD FX-8350 and 16GB RAM and Samsung 830 SSD. 10/10 would buy again.
Cons: None.
