What's with the bad reviews?

WD My Cloud EX4 Diskless: 4-Bay Personal Cloud Storage WDBWWD0000NBK-NESN
WD My Cloud EX4 Diskless: 4-Bay Personal Cloud Storage WDBWWD0000NBK-NESN

Pros: I'm only writing this because I have it and don't understand the 1 star reviews. I have this, it works, and so far I've had no issues. From reading the reviews, one guy may have gotten a bad device, there is a failure rate in all consumer electronics. It happens. For the other 1 star review it sounds like the guy wants a magical unicorn device. I'd take it as more credible but we measure storage in bytes and the guy is complaining that it takes 20 minutes to transfer 1.5 terabytes. Ok, so... the 1 (one) gigabit network card in this baby is transferring at 10 (ten) gigabits and you are calling it a con? For the other issues there can be other things such as DRM standing in the way. This thing gets firmware updates regularly maybe there was a bug or something. For WAN access I've had no issues. I hate writing reviews to stick up for a company or device but for me this thing has been a solid performer. Further calculations for the unicorn idiot if he ever reads this: 1.5 Terabytes over 1000/M = 3 Hours, 45 Minutes and 16 Seconds If he meant terabits. 1.5 terabits = ~192 Gigabytes. 192 Gigabytes over 1000/M = 0 Hours, 28 Minutes and 09 Seconds

Cons: Some of the software updates take awhile.

Overall Review: If you keep your expectations realistic, then this is a good device. Currently have 4 3TB disks in raid 5.

Most Critical Review

Great while it lasts

HyperX 3K 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (Upgrade Bundle Kit) SH103S3B/120G
HyperX 3K 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (Upgrade Bundle Kit) SH103S3B/120G

Pros: It is a fast drive and an extremely noticeable improvement over a mechanical drive at first.

Cons: Unreliable. I purchased my first 2 from a local retailer in October 2012. By December my first one in my main pc had failed and I needed to RMA. The other I installed in a barely used HTPC. Now, the replacement I received from Kingston has been exhibiting the same symptoms as the original. The unit I installed in my HTPC is well. Essentially, the controller is failing during use. Computer freeze -> restart to bios without powering down -> ssd does not appear in bios. Power down, ssd is back and I can use my pc again for 30 minutes. This is happening on 3 separate drives on 2 separate computers. I've heard some pretty bad things about the sandforce controllers and I am inclined to agree. I will not bother with another RMA as on my first I had to pay the return shipping and I'd rather just not waste any more money on junk that only lasts a few months best.

Overall Review: Next ssd will not have a sandforce controller.

Nice for $99

Rosewill RGB80 - 16.8 Million Color Illuminated Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Rosewill RGB80 - 16.8 Million Color Illuminated Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Pros: So far I like it. I use a few different keyboards with different kinds of switches. The Kailh blue switches in this board feel and sound nice. It is kind of like a hybrid between Cherry MX Brown and Blue switches. This is my first dive into Kailh switches over cherry and so far it is different yes pleasant. It is kind of like they wanted the clickyness of the blue switches with the feel of the brown.

Cons: Software is a bit iffy. Not terrible but not very good either. Given that they released the keyboard with a promise of a future update to unlock everything, I"m guessing it is still a work in progress. The clear key caps look pretty bad compared to the black keys. They should have put more finish on these before release.

Overall Review: It is a different feel from both my CMStorm and TT Poseidon. That being said, a TT Poseidon is going to be a better value than this if you don't want as many options in your back lighting. This is a solid keyboard for what it does at this price point though. I got this just to try it out and can see myself using it for awhile.

About as good as it can get

Xerox WorkCentre 3210/N MFC Monochrome Multifunction Laser Printer
Xerox WorkCentre 3210/N MFC Monochrome Multifunction Laser Printer

Pros: Twain is a pro and a con here. The printing is excellent, the scanning is not so much. This is a twain support machine so there are tons of ways to connect to scanning here. Unfortunately the default software may be something a lot of office IT people have a difficult time setting up the first time.

Cons: I only docked this by 1 egg as the instructions for setting up network scanning are terrible. In fact, with the software cd's that came with my printer and the online instructions, it is impossible to set this up. All I did was set a static IP and download a free open source twain compatible scanner interface and was done. Docked 1 star because the instructions and software included do not match. If you understand protocols and open standards no big deal, if you are just trying to get it to work, xerox has done a terrible job for the not so technically inclined.

Overall Review: Purchased for a customer's home office. What should have been a 15 minute setup took me about an hour due to how xerox has setup their hardware. It isn't a bad thing though as I have worked with similar stuff in the past, just don't expect scanning to be as plug and play as you'd like. The software included isn't really the easiest solution as well. After installing, I spent awhile getting stuff together and have all new scans going to a dropbox using all 3rd party software. That is the biggest con, 3rd party software should never be easier for desired results compared with the software that actually comes with the machine. Eff U for your software xerox and nuance!!!

Good Drive

OCZ VTX460-25SAT3-240G 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Flash Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - Retail
OCZ VTX460-25SAT3-240G 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Flash Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - Retail

Pros: Wanted more space on my boot drive. Bought this to replace a samsung 840 pro 128gb. While the 840 series is solid as can be I wanted to try this out. Used included Acronis license to clone disk and was up in less than half an hour. Speed between this and the samsung are pretty comparable. If the quality of the drive holds up over time then OCZ might start producing real winners under Toshiba. So far I'm impressed.

Cons: Can't think of any for the price.

Overall Review: Overall a nice package, the inclusion of Acronis is a plus. I was a bit skeptical to give OCZ a go but so far it seems worth it. Hopefully the quality is there and this drive will last awhile.

Awesome Ram

Team Xtreem 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) Desktop Memory Model TXD316G2400HC10QDC01
Team Xtreem 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) Desktop Memory Model TXD316G2400HC10QDC01

Pros: Fast, significantly higher maxxmem and other benchmark scores than what it replaced. No issues with ram at all. This was the cheapest 16gb/2400 ram at the time when I bought it.

Cons: Nothing really. It doesn't do my laundry.

Overall Review: Good stuff especially for the money. If I was you, and if you were in the market for a 16gb(8x2)/2400mhz ram set then you should probably just go ahead and buy this.
