Exceptional Price/Performance

Antec EarthWatts EA-650 GREEN 650W ATX12V v2.4 SLI Ready CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible
Antec EarthWatts EA-650 GREEN 650W ATX12V v2.4 SLI Ready CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: 2x 12v rails with 38amps each, 2x PCIe (6+2pin) cables with 1 on each 12v rail, 20/24pin and 4/8 pin mobo cables on separate 12v rails, so 12v power distribution is optimal. Fairly quiet & cool under load, fan has appropriate airflow. Length of all cables is adequate for full size cases.

Cons: None, because product is exactly as advertised. Some take off an egg since it's not modular, but they knew that. Some take off an egg because they don't need all the cables, lol. Some take off an egg due to $/watt, yet $/amps is unbeatable.

Overall Review: People need to realize it's the amperage & distribution of 12v rails that's important, not the wattage ratings. Compare any/all other quality "650W" PSUs and if you can find one that provides 76 amps continuous @ 12v (2 rails @ 38amps each) for less $, then buy it. Powering a Clarkdale i3 OC'd to >4.3GHz and GTX 480 OC'd to 880/4120, which is only about half of what it can support, 10months so far, overall very pleased with this Antec unit.

Bad DIMM slot A-1

BIOSTAR TH55B HD LGA 1156 Intel H55 HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
BIOSTAR TH55B HD LGA 1156 Intel H55 HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Good BIOS features for OC Price at time of purchase

Cons: Cost, time & effort to ship it back for RMA refund. Memory slot A-1 was bad, and unfortunately both A-1 & B-1 are required for dual-channel mode when using only 2 DIMMs. Their "Black" PCB is actually an ugly dark brown.

Overall Review: Read good things about it on hardware review sites, but after my negative experience and seeing comments here, I can't really recommend it over the available alternative mobos.

Good Quality Kit

Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model 996770
Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model 996770

Pros: Good performance for the price. Reputable, trustworthy brand. 8GB is plenty for Win7-64bit.

Cons: Doesn't OC near as well as Mushkin's Essentials 2x2GB kit, which I also bought here.

Overall Review: Won't OC much at all, neither faster speed or tighter timings, but runs as specified at 1.5v, so no complaints.

Good Quality & Value

KWorld UB435-Q USB ATSC TV Stick
KWorld UB435-Q USB ATSC TV Stick

Pros: The hardware and software work fine on both XP 32bit and Win7 64bit. Easy to install & use. Low-cost solution for OTA on a PC.

Cons: Doesn't accept signals from VCR or DVD players, it's just a digital tuner for the new standard OTA broadcasts. Now 5 bucks less than what I paid 3yrs ago. Antenna placement is touchy for specific stations, but that's the nature of the new ATSC reception.

Overall Review: Owned since Feb.2009, have used on 3 desktop PCs using XP 32bit and 2 laptops with Win7 64bit, no problems, it simply works as it should.

Great Low Voltage Overclocking!

Intel Core i3-550 - Core i3 Clarkdale Dual-Core 3.2 GHz LGA 1156 73W Intel HD Graphics Desktop Processor - BX80616I3550
Intel Core i3-550 - Core i3 Clarkdale Dual-Core 3.2 GHz LGA 1156 73W Intel HD Graphics Desktop Processor - BX80616I3550

Pros: Default voltage specified as 1.265v on box, but mine will do 4.0 GHz (24x 167fsb) with just 1.216v, and 4.3 GHz with 1.248v, easily under the thermal limits using the stock heatsink/fan.

Cons: Not a con for this CPU, but note that this is the last of the overclockable i3 series chips from Intel, as the newer generation (Sandy Bridge & Ivy Bridge) i3 processors unfortunately cannot be OC'd.

Overall Review: Nice price, OCs easily, does SuperPi 1M in ~9.7sec. @ 4.2GHz, runs cool with stock HSF, great gaming performance when paired with a midrange GPU (such as a GTX560), really can't imagine a better price:performance ratio than this.

The Best 400watt

SPARKLE ATX-400PN-B204 400W ATX 12V 2.2 Power Supply
SPARKLE ATX-400PN-B204 400W ATX 12V 2.2 Power Supply

Pros: Dual 12v rails with 18amp capacity each Runs cool & quiet, even under heavy loads Built to last (over 3 years so far for mine) Outstanding price:performance ratio Supports OC'd 2010 components! (see other thoughts)

Cons: Doesn't flow a lot of air (but it's quiet) Single 6-pin PCI-e connector Only 2 SATA connectors

Overall Review: Bought from NewEgg Sept.'07, and have used in 3 different systems. Now using it to power the one I just built; Core i3-530 @ > 4GHz 2x2GB Mushkin DDR3-1333 Gigabyte H55M-S2V GTX-460 @ 840core, 4200mem If your requirements are similar, this PSU is highly recommended.
