Great MOBO for budget C2D over-clocking

ASUS P5B LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS P5B LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: I bough this board to go with an e4300. It is advertised by ASUS as a great overclocker and I have certainly had no trouble over-clocking the e4300. It is resting at 2.8ghz (312 Bus Speed) right now with vCore of 1.25 (BIOS setting) with PC Probe II Vcore reading of 1.12. I've had it up to a stable 3.0ghz Orthos stable on stock cooling but being conservative I backed up and settled on 2.8ghz for the time being. I still had plenty of room to move up. The Mobo was certainly not holding me back

Cons: I had to flash the BIOS to version 0806 in order for it to fully recognize the Core 2 Duo chip. That was a painless process and I was up and running in no time.

Overall Review: Excellent choice for a budget minded tinkerer who likes to do some over-clocking, doesn't need on-board wifi and doesn't feel the need to take over-clocking to the extreme. That being said, I have come no where close to the limit on how far up I could take this Mobo/CPU combo. Just waiting for an after-market CPU heat-sink / fan before heading on past 3.0 ghz

Works with C2D and ASUS P5B

Pros: Works great with the Intel P965 Chipset. Chosen as part of a budget over-clocking build based on the ASUS P5B mobo & C2D e4300 CPU. Listed on ASUS's site in their Approved Vendor List for the the P5B series. Booted right up and I have had no problems at all. Lifetime warranty. Great price.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Supports my C2D e4300 CPU overclock to 3.0ghz so for with no issues.

Nice Upgrade

Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 - Core 2 Duo Allendale Dual-Core 1.8 GHz LGA 775 65W Processor - BX80557E4300
Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 - Core 2 Duo Allendale Dual-Core 1.8 GHz LGA 775 65W Processor - BX80557E4300

Pros: I bought this CPU with the ASUS P5B Mobo and Kingston 2x1Gig PC5300 DDR2 RAM. Over-clocked easily to 2.8 Gig on stock cooling at a BIOS Vcore setting of of 1.25. I’ve had it to 3.0 (bus speed of 334) but decided to add a better CPU heat-sink / fan before taking it further. Both Bus Speeds were stable under SP2004 Blend tests. The x9 multiplier makes reaching 3gig fairly easy even without the very best RAM and Mobo. Good choice for budget over-clocker

Cons: Price is high compared to MSRP at release, but that is universal with all vendors so far.

Overall Review: My over-clock goal is going to be 3.0 to 3.2. This CPU should do that easily, especially once I add a higher quality CPU heat-sink w/fan. Had I wanted a little more performance I would have skipped over the E6300 & 6400 and gone on to the E6600 for not THAT much more.
