Great fans

Noctua NF-P14 FLX 140mm Case cooler
Noctua NF-P14 FLX 140mm Case cooler

Pros: Quiet Easy installation Cables

Cons: None

Overall Review: Purchased two as front intake fans to go with two Noctua 120s for the rear. These fans are quiet, especially if put on the middle RPM via motherboard or fan controller. The rubber mounts take away any vibration noise. The mounts really are easy to work with on a new build with an empty case; could be more problematic if you are installing with a fully built case since you need access to pull on the ends. Long sleeved and heatshrinked cables. I've read some complaints about the adapters making the install seem loose. The adapters are for the fan housing only, and the rubber mounts then install the fan housing to the case. It is rock solid if done properly. As to the colors, they're classy.

Great little reader

LIAN LI CR-25B 20-in-1 USB 2.0 Black Aluminum Card Reader
LIAN LI CR-25B 20-in-1 USB 2.0 Black Aluminum Card Reader

Pros: Great looks Works great Solid feel to inserting cards

Cons: Installation

Overall Review: This card reader is surprisingly small compared to the one I replaced. But it is also well made and has the look and feel of solid construction. The red LED doesn't bother me as my computer is under the desk. I like the feel of simply pushing a card in with no "spongy" feel to it and then it stops, the busy light comes on and you know you're good to go. Solid feel to it. You may need to be creative when installing. In my Lian Li PC-B70 case, the hole alignment on the rails left the front of the reader unsupported and this meant that you could push the reader just slightly up or down in the 3.5" case opening. The instructions install method wasn't working. I used the longer screws provided in the front through the case (in the case 3.5" bay rails), the reader rails, and into the reader itself without touching the reader PCB. You might also drill holes in the provided rails where you need them. Don't panic, use some creativity as the reader itself is excellent.

HP Black 12X BD-R 2X BD-RE 16X DVD+R 12X DVD-RAM 8X BD-ROM SATA Blu-ray Burner bd340i LightScribe Support

Pros: -8mb cache -Lightscribe -It's Blu-ray

Cons: -Tech support difficult to find, but it does exist.

Overall Review: I've read the reviews here and elsewhere about this drive making coasters. I have not had that problem backing up files and folders to the Verbatim 25gb BD-R non-LTH disks that Newegg included in the combo deal. I've yet to try LTH disks or backing up Blu-ray movies. My drive came with the latest firmware however. For those looking for a firmware update go to the HP home page and type in the search box at top right "HP Customer Care," then in the search box on the next page type in: HP bd240i Blu-ray Disc Combo Writer exactly as you see it here (yes an older drive model) you gain access to a link "Manuals for HP bd240i" which if you click on that you get a page with a .pdf file called "HP DVD Writers Getting Help Guide." That document has the phone number you need to call for the latest firmware update and support. HP should include this document in the retail package.

Crisp detailed sound

ASUS Xonar D1 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound Card
ASUS Xonar D1 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound Card

Pros: Clear detailed sound that surpasses that of the Audigy 2 previously in the computer. 5.1 processing of music is better than that of CMSS for stereo sources. No bloatware.

Cons: No DTS but then that would increase the price (think Xonar D2). If you have a 5.1 system (as opposed to a 7.1), it's a little odd that you must plug the rears into the plug intended for side speakers.

Overall Review: For those who may have trouble getting sound to the rears in a 5.1 system (Klipsch Promedia 5.1 used here), plug the rear speakers into the side speaker plug then in Audio Center select the audio channel of your source. So if you want 5.1 from a stereo source (CD, MP3, etc.) you select 2 Channel for your audio channel, 5.1 Speakers for your Analog Out; then you can also experiment with the 7.1 Virtual Speaker Shifter and Dolby Pro Logic IIx options if you wish.

Fast reader

Koutech IO-RCM620 USB 2.0 3.5" Card Reader
Koutech IO-RCM620 USB 2.0 3.5" Card Reader

Pros: - Reads files fast - Beige bezel matches case

Cons: - Cord too short

Overall Review: Koutech needs to lengthen the cord on this. It was too short to reach from the top of my case where the floppy drive is, to the bottom of my full tower case where the motherboard USB adapter is. I had to buy a converter kit (5 1/4 to a 3 1/2) and use one of those bays lower in the case. Not unresolvable but 4" more on the cord and the problem does not arise.
