Size Matters

AFT XM-37U USB 3.0 3.5” Kiosk Card Reader
AFT XM-37U USB 3.0 3.5” Kiosk Card Reader

Pros: USB 3.0, easy cable attachment, can be used with rear USB 3.0 ports as well (you drill the holes in the slot cover). Installed well in Cooler Master HAF+ 912 case and sturdy too. Could be used as an exterior card reader too. I really do like the BRIGHT colorful marking for each type of card on the face. On a black faced card reader this makes things MUCH easier to read.

Cons: The adapter that converts the pin header to USB ports is a bit large. On the motherboard that I installed it on (Asus M5A99X EVO, nice board) it interfered with the RAM slots. However, a few quick strokes from my Swiss Army Knife and the issue was resolved. Yes, this is highly motherboard dependent.

Overall Review: I would like to have seen a simple pin header to card reader cables without the use of an adapter with USB ports. This way it would NOT extend outside the footprint of the pin headers.

Sorry

Nippon Labs DP-6-MM DisplayPort Cable, DP Cable 6ft. [4K@60Hz, 2K@165Hz, 2K@144Hz], Display Port Cable 1.2 High Speed DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cable Compatible 3D, Laptop, PC, Gaming Monitor
Nippon Labs DP-6-MM DisplayPort Cable, DP Cable 6ft. [4K@60Hz, 2K@165Hz, 2K@144Hz], Display Port Cable 1.2 High Speed DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cable Compatible 3D, Laptop, PC, Gaming Monitor

Pros: Price and ease of ordering with monitor

Cons: Did not work with FIrePro video card and Dell Ultra-Sharp Monitor both monitors went black/dark/no image. Replaced it with a VESA verified DisplayPort cable and all is well.

Overall Review: I will only buy VESA verified cables from now on. Even at a higher price.

Great Switch

Cisco SG300-10MPP 10-Port Gigabit Max PoE+ Managed Switch
Cisco SG300-10MPP 10-Port Gigabit Max PoE+ Managed Switch

Pros: 8 ports PiE with two non-PoE ports to spare/uplink. Lots of power for devices. I can add a few more phones without hesitation. No fans, so it is quiet.

Cons: Power brick, makes for messy power cabling. Nagios does not recognize it correctly.

Overall Review: I would buy it again no doubt, and recommend it.

PINK!!!

Otterbox Defender Series Case for Samsung Galaxy S3 Papaya (77-30859)
Otterbox Defender Series Case for Samsung Galaxy S3 Papaya (77-30859)

Pros: Otter Box! Works like a champ (bosses are wimpy) at protecting your phone.

Cons: "They" said it was Papaya, but it is PINK!!!!!!! If you want pink, then get it. If you want Papaya, the pass on this one.

Overall Review: The OtterBox is and likely will be great. But the color is NOT as advertised.

Synology

Synology RS814 Diskless System 4-bay Rackmount NAS
Synology RS814 Diskless System 4-bay Rackmount NAS

Pros: 1U, quiet, RAID 5, many capabilities, 2 LAN ports, and flexible. Not much more that you can ask of a NAS. One of my personal pros is it uses an ARM processor. Setup was easy. There seem to be regular OS updates, which are painless to apply. Adding more capabilities is also painless, assuming you know what you are doing. Works nicely. What I REALLY like is that I know what drives are going to it, AND I get to choose. WD Red Pro 2 TB in my case.

Cons: The mounting "ears" can only be attached to one spot. When using a two rail only rack, as I am. It would be nice if the mounting ears could be placed so the attachment point aligns with the center of the HDDs. I was able to "reverse" them so part of the HDDs stick out the front. This is NOT a deal breaker, for me. Your mileage may vary. Also I could only use two (2) screws instead of four (4) to attach the HDDs into the sleds/carriers. It still works, but I would like to be able to use four. Again NOT a deal breaker.

Overall Review: Like anything that is new to you, it will take some time and work to know how to use it. Would I buy another one? Yes, I would, or a different model. Would I recommend it to a friend? In general, yes, but we all know those friends that just can't handle anything, so no to them. I would like to see one that is made for 2.5" drives, especially SSDs. it could be totally silent.

It's the cable

Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24" Full HD 1920 x 1200 60Hz 8ms DisplayPort VGA DVI-D 4xUSB 2.0 Pivot Swivel Height Adjustable LED Backlit IPS Widescreen LCD Monitor
Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24" Full HD 1920 x 1200 60Hz 8ms DisplayPort VGA DVI-D 4xUSB 2.0 Pivot Swivel Height Adjustable LED Backlit IPS Widescreen LCD Monitor

Pros: This is an addenda to my original review. I have read the other reviews and I too had an issue with DisplayPort. I fixed it with using a VESA verified DisplayPort cable. That is what it takes. I won't use any other from now on. Yes, they cost more, but that is all that I will use in the future. It's not the monitor it's the cable that is giving you problems.

Cons: Needs VESA verified cable?

Overall Review: Get a VESA verified cable and be happy!
