AWESOME
Pros: Replaced aging i7-920 with this E3-1230v2. Same video + drives + power supply + monitor. Went from 162 W idle to 108 W idle. Will support ECC (but my consumer grade MSI mobo does not).
Cons: None
another seagate firmware fiasco
Pros: Works normally after updating to CC35 firmware.
Cons: Oh my, what can I say. Seagate dropped the ball AGAIN. The drive worked for approx 3 weeks, then my father said his media center was unusable -- would stutter during playback or almost lock up -- all the time. In Windows 7 Resource Monitor, it was showing Response Time of 1500 to 7500 ms for files on this drive. This number should be 15 ms or so. That is literally up to 7.5 seconds for the drive to respond to a request. We updated the drive firmware to CC35 (update available on Seagate website), and now the drive appears to be working normally. How does something like this make it to the field?
Overall Review: Seagate seems to be plagued with poorly written firmware.
3840x2160
Pros: Bought this card to drive a Dell P2815Q monitor. With monitor only supporting 30 Hz refresh, I didn't think it would be a big deal. But if you want to feel like you are using remote desktop locally, this is an easy way to do that ;).
Cons: I don't have any -- but I'm not a gamer.
Overall Review: DiplayPort to DVI (passive) adapter is only single-link. So you are limited on your DVI resolution. I had switched from a dual-link DVI video card to this DisplayPort card -- and didn't realize this limitation with the passive adapter.
BIOS updates only during warranty period
Pros: Owning the hardware isn't sufficient for BIOS updates. You must be within warranty period. And I don't know how they determine the start date of your 1 year window -- it was BEFORE I purchased it.
Cons: HP bureaucracy
Overall Review: You must link an "entitlement" with your user ID. Not my words, HP's.
Good for first 20 hours
Pros: Worked for 20 hours.
Cons: Died after 20 hours. Click, click, click.
Normally these are rock solid
Pros: Quiet Low power
Cons: None
Overall Review: Received one with 'noisy' fan. Either something in the blades or bearing. First unit (out of probably 8) I've had an issue with.
