First impressions - great buy and value

MSI GF Series - 15.6" GeForce GTX 1660 Ti - Intel Core i5-9300H - 8GB Memory - 512GB NVMe SSD - Windows 10 Home 64-bit - Gaming Laptop - 120 Hz IPS (GF65 THIN 9SD )

Pros: - Came almost completely updated. Very little to do. - Easy to remove back panel and update RAM and add additional PCIe NMVe drive. - Solid build - Nice feeling keyboard and track-pad - USB i/o working great all around

Cons: - Display has light bleed in bottom corners. Only noticeable in dark color displays and not distracting during normal use. Has been noted by other review sights. Still a very nice looking display. - Battery life is not good. Just a few hours realistically. - Black aluminum finish shows a lot of finger prints.

Overall Review: Overall a very good performing PC so far. I have not push the CPU or Nvidia card to max yet, but when I do I'll update this review. So far everything moves beautifully in this system and the updated components I added are stable and required zero tweaks. Added - 2 x 16 gb Crucial 2666 DDR4 RAM and a Samsung EVO 970 500GB to the second SSD PCIe slot. Note: Do not buy a Silicon Power model PCIe NVMe SSD for this. It will likely not be seen or initialize. I found this by practice and found others who had the exact same issues with the same drive/laptop. You've been warned.

Not impressed

Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes
Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Looks great. Does what it's supposed to...to a certain degree (pun intended)

Cons: On my ASRock Haswell 1150 board, this was extremely difficult to seat over the CPU socket. I mean a real pain in the rear. Took about 10 tries adjusting the brackets to their two slot settings, neither of which are truly correct for my board. Against my better judgement, I end up putting excess force and almost bending the MOBO to get it seated. Second, it doesn't even outperform the stock Intel heatsink:( Baffled by this. it's making good contact and the design looks great, but it actually idles 2 C higher than the stock fan.

Overall Review: Simply not impressed.

Listen to the reviews!

RAZER Arctosa Black 104 Normal Keys USB Wired Standard Gaming Keyboard
RAZER Arctosa Black 104 Normal Keys USB Wired Standard Gaming Keyboard

Pros: Nice sleek design. Keys feel solid and are responsive. Newegg's seamles return policy :)

Cons: There's good reason this board has so many sub-par reviews...it has some glaring deficiencies that are listed in the reviews, but I chose to see for myself. Big mistake. Issues: The keys as black on black. Can't really see key labels in any light. If you're not a very very proficient keyboarder, you will look at this an say out loud "Are you kidding razor?". next, the caps/num lock LED's are brutally bright...they glare across the piano finish and hurt the retinas. No joke.

Overall Review: I had this back in the shipping bay and labeld for RMA within 1 hour of opening. Don't waste you time. get a backlit recent model, or the sidewinder (which I bought instead...nice board)

Rosewill RD450S, 80 PLUS Certified 450 W Power Supply
Rosewill RD450S, 80 PLUS Certified 450 W Power Supply

Pros: Easy to install :)

Cons: It doesn't work. Powers the system for 2 seconds, then stops. It repeats this activity for as long as I allow it and never starts. (I expect the mobo I'm using to briefly run a diagnostic check before fully powering, but this is definately not what's happening here).

Overall Review: I have build with all the same parts recently, and the only variable is the PSU and DVD drive. Other low grade reviews state this same issue. Returning it.

Impressive on-air!

Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1265 (1196) Hybrid TV Tuner /Video Recorder
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1265 (1196) Hybrid TV Tuner /Video Recorder

Pros: I'm getting an amazing HD quality picture through tuning to ATSC with a homemade antenna. It tuned ABC, CBS, and NBC HD right off the bat. I'm using a homemade antenna that cost 12 bucks to make and about 30 minute of my time.

Cons: This can't decode HD channels directly from the analogue cable line, so if you have a basic cable package with HD channels you'll need to have a separate HD decoding box outside the PC. This card will tune HD broadcast over the air in digital ATSC thru an actual antenna. If you had a card with two inputs, you could connect both sources and get the best of both worlds...definitely something to think about, and it's making me think about returning this card for a dual input upgrade.

Overall Review: See Cons....using digital antenna tuning provides HD but doesn't allow me to see many of the channels in my basic Cable package. It's a toss up.

What can i say...it's Sweet!

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Graphics Card GV-N460OC-1GI
GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Graphics Card GV-N460OC-1GI

Pros: Runs cool. Crazy fast. Shorter than my older 9800GT by the late company BFG (R.I.P.). My modular Antec P-Supply had a separate direct 6-6 pin connector for the extra 6 pin power. I've literally only had time to play one game (MW2) for ten minutes and was blow away by the smoothness at the highest available res and video settings.

Cons: Why not a full size HDMI port? Cost an extra 1 buck per unit likely. Maybe it doesn't fit on the board layout...eitherway I don't care....I run my sound through a pci Delta card straight to near field powered monitors. (Screw on board sound!)

Overall Review: Go straight to an Nvidia driver site and download the latest that specifically "support GTX 460" cards. it may seem like you're running fine after a reboot with whatever older nvidia drivers you're using, but believe me, it's ain't. 4GB DDR2 GSkill/ E8400 3.0 Core2/ Delta44 Sound/Zalman proc sink+fan/ PK5 asus Mobo/ Liteon Blue ray/Sony combo drive....pretty standard stuff. (This card really pushes it over the top)
