Pros: 32 Gigs of SSD cache really speeds up an old WD Black! Product exactly as described IF you read the description. Adding this to my wifes system has given it the same feel as mine that really has an SSD. Includes 2.5 to 3.5 adapter - see other thoughts. Current drivers. All required screws included.
Cons: Risk of corrupting OS. The fix / workaround is not in the instructions.
Overall Review: Back up your data! Five eggs if not for corrupting my OS. I was able to retrieve all of the data from another computer in the Home Group. The solution; and step missing in the instructions: Secure erase. Here is how you want to install this. BEFORE mounting drive in the adapter copy the Dataplex key code from bottom of drive. Place drive in adapter and then in HDD tray. Download OCZ toolbox. Plug in drive Using the toolbox perform a SECURE ERASE and then enable TRIM. Download and install Dataplex software. Following the Dataplex prompts mount the Synapse in the system HDD. Follow any remaining instructions. Click on Dataplex from "programs" to verify drive is working. My only issue was a result of not doing a secure erase. After I followed the steps listed above I have not had any problems or complaints. All said and done I am happy with the drive and would buy another if I had the need. Note; This drive will show up in BIOS during boot but will not be seen by Win7. With the prices for 240 Gb SSDs coming down this will become less of cost effective option; even at $40.
trap...Trap...TRAP, PLAIN OLD FASHIONED SCUMWARE!
Pros: Free 30 day trial. First 25 - 27 days. I got to find out first hand what TOP NOTCH scam ware is. Didn't kick the dog. Did not act on my thoughts. The software reminded me once again why I keek my back-up in the way I do. Found out that my RE drives are in great shape. Learned to accept whit greater ease that I am indeed an idiot; and for the most part it's not bad.
Cons: Can't give a rating of zero; it is the only nubber of eggs that would be the honest truth. They infect your entire system with a boat load malware just before the trial period is up if you don't buy the steaming pile of excriment. Another nice little touch is that you can't get your AV to run for a few moments before it hard locks; you can reinstall your AV, even a different brand and it's the same story. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE; just try to unstall it and things go to hell in a hand basket so fast it'll make your head swim.
Overall Review: Missing pathes, files, registry entries, raid drivers not to mention corrupting the file system belief. I spent a week and a half trying to undo the mess before I just wiped the array and did a fresh install and restored my files. Iv'e NEVER seen anything that can make a bigger mess of your system than Iola System Mecscamit; never, ever!
New life for an older board
Pros: Price, value; much, much faster than the Vertex 2 it replaced. Very complete kit.
Overall Review: I installed this on my Abit IP35 Pro without a hitch. Bios is set for RAID as I have a pair of mirrored drives for backup. The downloaded transfer software moved my boot drive from a 480GB OCZ Vertex 2 to the new 240GB Intel drive with one click; very simple. Win 7 pro 64 bit doesn’t know it’s been cloned. I had trouble with the OCZ disappearing but after about 25 test boots it is not the case with this drive. The difference in performance is amazing especially opening large folders of uncompressed .Tiff files. Seat of the pants feels faster than when I was set up with two Re4s in RAID 0 but without the feeling of impending doom. I am getting the last little bit of performance out of my old SATA-2 board and Q6600 @ 3Ghz that I think I’m realistically going to be able to get.
Safe enough for QWERTY
Pros: Same tight timing as the 1Gb/DIMM memory it replaced. Good price for “old” RAM. Mfg. monitors the review thread. Plenty of surface area on the heat sinks. Overclocks well right out of the gate. Sets to 4-4-4-12 without any problems.
Cons: No real cons when it comes to performance, stability or durability.
Overall Review: I have never had a problem with Gskill memory up until this last batch; Nov 2012. I purchased 8gigs (2 pkgs) of this and had issues with both sets. One pair couldn't get through POST and the second died after about 5 boots while I tried to track down the exact problems. Luck of the draw I guess; it happens with all components. RMA with Newegg was a breeze; customer service is a big part of how they have earned my business over the years. 4-4-4-12, huh? I don’t know how long I had the timing set wrong but I did (accidentally) discover that this will run at even tighter timings. This would not have happened had used the number pad instead of the QWERTY. Gotta love that Intel P-35!
Never knew what I was missing
Pros: Plug and Play with no hassles or drivers; really.(see other thoughts) Left/Right LED indicator on switch. Compact, simple and easy to use single button remote with non skid bottom. The remote allows me to push all of the cables and clutter to the back of the bench. Cable length allows for a comfortable work area between towers. USB connectors are marked for keyboard/mouse so I don't get stupid. It has shown to be compatible with Windows '98 through 7; haven't tried it on 8.
Cons: I'm just a little more lazy now.
Overall Review: With Win.'98 I had to place ps2 adapters on the ends to boot with out errors the first time. '98 found the right driver when I switched back to USB. I did have '98 drop the connection once but it may have been something that I did; an earlier reviewer solved something similar. The switch performs flawlessly with XP, Vista and 7; more than I can say for the operator at times.
Pros: These came in like they were brand new; inside and out. New keyboard and mouse included. 1 year replacement warranty. For an office upgrade from XP these are a pretty speedy, cost effective solution. An easy sell.
Cons: No cons for these.
Overall Review: One of the computers must have been dropped from quite a height; enough to send the DVD drive inside the case, the bent case. The box had no indication it had been dropped so I can't say who did it. Although this was a problem it doesn't reflect on the actual product. After an online chat with Newegg customer service I had an RMA in an instant; and a replacement the next day.
The seller is on the ball.
The seller was great, fast to ship (1st class mail) and product was exactly as described. The only problem I had was with me. I ordered the wrong RAM. I contacted the seller and got an RMA number the next morning. Returning the purchase was a breeze, and only necessary because of my mistake.
