Overall Review: When using the 2.6.29-gentoo-r6 kernel drivers for this card, it would only recognize a 100mbit link and failed to switch, via ethtool, to a 1000mbit link. Solution: Download the card's drivers from intel.com and compile them as modules. I've provided the options I used, which I found after some extensive Googling, for anyone interested: make CFLAGS_EXTRA=-DE1000_MASTER_SLAVE=1 install rmmod e1000 modprobe e1000 AutoNeg=0x28 The card now recognizes my 1000mbit link via autonegotiation perfectly and I've had no issues with the card since. Will probably order another one or two soon!
