Excellent Longevity
Pros: - Has held up well over 6 years, and is just now needing to be replaced. - Absorbs and holds onto oil/grime and does not deposit it back onto the bottom of my mouse as I move it across. This is big deal for me because of my oily hands, which becomes a problem on glossy pads. - The large size is great. I orient it in portrait layout to give my arm a consistent feel all the way to the edge of the desk.
Cons: - Not the most accurate or consistent for high-precision mouse movements, which I sometimes observe when image/video editing.
Overall Review: - About to buy two more so I can replace my current one at home and also take one to work.
Not Stable
Pros: When it works, I have no complaints. It runs all the games I play on either the highest or second-highest setting with reasonable FPS.
Cons: The first one I got was bad from the get-go. Anytime I loaded a movie or played a game, it would either crash immediately upon loading or shortly after starting actual gameplay. Windows reported that the NVIDIA driver had encountered a problem and "recovered". That one was replaced by NewEgg without issue (thanks!). My replacement worked for about 2 months, and now just had the same issue. I see that this is no longer sold, and I understand why, but I had to write a review nonetheless. Never buying Palit again!
Had to replace after 2 years
Pros: This is an update to my previous post-purchase review. I am still very happy with the mouse, and am about to buy a replacement.
Cons: The left mouse button started to randomly send two clicks to the OS after only a single physical press. Its usually not a problem, except when it results in closing a window that is behind the window I intended to close (both full-screen). It started after about 18 months, and the problem has now become bad enough that I need to replace the unit. But getting 2 years out of an ergonomic $25 mouse...I am not upset.
Works great
Pros: Easy to setup. Great as a temporary solution. Running through roughly 50 ft to the breaker box from room 1 and about 100 ft to the breaker box from room 2. Streaming video between two Tivos has no issues, and it has yet to drop connection.
Cons: Wife doesn't like the way it looks, so now I get to hear about that. She would also prefer for there to be a shutoff for the LEDs, but a piece of white electrical tape does the job nicely.
Overall Review: Just moved into a new house and haven't decided where I want my wiring closet to be just yet; I will run Cat5e everywhere soon. This let me get Ethernet to the living room in the short term for the WAP and Tivo. Will be happy to have these in my arsenal when I go to relative's houses for vacation/holidays. I think I may be installing a lot of these to get the APs in a more appropriate location for their houses.
awesome for the price
Pros: Great price. Good (not great) audio quality once you get the balancing setup properly. The bass speaker is actually a lot better than expected. I had to turn it all the way down because I immediately got complaints from the next office over. I would have loved to have these speakers in my college apartment. They sound good enough and I wouldn't get heartbroken if my buddies broke them accidentally during a party.
Cons: The default sound settings (or at least where it started on my system) sounded horrible. I had to play with both the Windows sound settings and the sound card settings (Realtek, built-in on the mobo) for an hour or so to make it sound even OK. I then had to play with the Realtek settings for another couple hours to calibrate the system to where the speakers are placed in the room. Only at this point was it finally acceptable to my ears. The volume wheel on the desk control is extremely sensitive. It took me several weeks before I learned just how little of turn it takes to manipulate the volume. I am scared to even try to take it all the way up for fear that it would blow the speakers.
Overall Review: If you need some speakers for watching videos/movies or listening to music, and superb sound quality is not a concern, this is a great choice. I use them at work; my co-workers have commented that they look nice and the music is clear. I would not recommend these speakers for 5.1 surround sound PC gaming.
Fan went bad...
Pros: Low price. Works well. Can run multiple monitors, but I had random problems with browser and MS Office windows not showing up properly or half-loading on the two screens it was running (one HDMI, one VGA); no problems experienced when running a single monitor (HDMI).
Cons: After 9 months, the fan started to go bad. And this thing is *LOUD* when it starts messing up. After 30 minutes I couldn't take it anymore, so I opened the case and stuck a piece of paper in it to jam the fan. When the card dies due to overheating, ill replace it with a fanless model.
Overall Review: I have been very happy with Item#: N82E16814130606, which I switched to for new purchases earlier this year because of the higher memory and no fan (otherwise its basically the same card).
