My first raid attempt

Pros: Once installed ( & that's the issue ) was very fast with two new Sata 3.0 drives. A new win 7 64 bit installation went very quickly with this card. We stressed the installed system and got not one hiccup. PCPitstop put the Raid 0 array in the top 1%.
Cons: You need a magnifying glass to read pamphlet. The instructions give the wrong paths to the drivers. By trial and error we found the correct paths but neither the raid 0 or the sata 3.0 driver worked. ( they would not install ). 64 bit win told me it had better drivers and was not going to install these garbage drivers!! Fortunately a link was given to a 3rd party web site along with a download code. On first try these drivers did not work either. However just before putting in our RMA we tried again. They must have just put up new drivers. This time a faultless install and blinding speed. So that's it! If you are able to get installable drivers it functions very well!
Upmarket Ryzen 9 MB with some issues

Pros: The board's bios must be upgraded to 3501 dated 4/8/21 to be usable. Failing that it frequently reboots on its own even if just sitting there and you must start your project from scratch. With the new bios it some times fails to start a program and then reboots saying wrongly it is overheated and you must go to bios and use F8 Key to reboot. I have another old Intel Asus that does this and if you check the net it is a common Asus problem. You have NOT overheated. Aside from that works well in mild overclock. But no better than three cheaper AMD Asus Boards.
Cons: My other AMD Asus Boards have NEVER crashed at all unlike this one. ....i.e. TUF B450M-Plus Gaming and TUF GAMING X570-Plus and for a Threadripper CPU Prime TRX40-Pro with similar advanced features like the Crosshair VIII. You can load a lot of items onto the Crosshair 8 but they share so your speed goes down unlike with the TRX40-Pro but you know this. Yes the several special features are nice but crashing when my $100 Asus board same 5850x CPU does not crash does not make me a happy camper.
Overall Review: I would buy one of the cheaper AMD Asus Boards that does not crash. I would consider a TRX40-Pro with same upmarket features the Crosshair 8 but sure you need a Threadripper CPU not a Ryzen 9.
memory seems fine but the wrong memory. Newegg unintentional error

Pros: I received in good order as a package 4 sticks of DDR 3600 at 16GB per stick. I had intended to receive F4-3600C16-16GTZNZ the operative being GTZNZ which I previously purchased for a new AMD motherboard. The new memory performed poorly on another new AMD motherboard. I soon realized I had received F43600 C18-16GVK which was not as intended. This was an unintentional error! In the short run an AMD program has allowed me to change timings so it sort of works. I will need to return in due course for the correct memory. ( This memory went onto a mission critical Threadripper 3970X ).
Cons: None except I received by unintentional error memory with the wrong timing.
Overall Review: Newegg and G.Skill need to pay more attention to advising on the assorted timings of otherwise identical memory. On smaller batches they both do just that and I have had no problems with smaller size sticks in packages of two not four.
Great inexpensive relatively short life low performance storage

Pros: Solid and reliable product. Works well out of the box and can be hot swapped. Reasonable size. ( we try to only but these drives when we have hot swap SATA space available on a server ). Been using Seagate almost exclusively for years. We love their new SSD Fire Cuda 520 twice the speed of Samsung and WD similar products.
Cons: Slow and short life compared to our Seagate SAS 3 12g/s drives used utilizing Raid. Warranty seems to be gibberish. But we all understand the rule. If they last a reasonable period thrown them away. Otherwise take up with Seagate. Transfer speed is slow. In fact I am moving data to this drive from an older drive same machine and it is taking 24 hours. this is not a complaint. The following incident speaks volumes. I went to register this drive over the net. I keyed in the serial number when asked and was told there was no VALID drive and that New Egg had connned me. New Egg gave me a number to call and we straightened it out. Turns out you cannnot enter code as you see it...… i.e. cap letter using shift key space where the code has space and no shift key when there is a number. You are supposed to know that instead you put on the caplock so it is on as you enter any number and do NOT type a space where the serial number has a space. Would you have confidence in this hard drive manufacturer?
Overall Review: This is a great drive with many purposes. Bear in mind there are now fast Seagate SSD's and for massive storage there is Seagate SAS3 12 gb/s faster cheaper space more reliable used in hardware raid. Recommended.
top end DDR 4000 memory

Pros: Attractive Gold plated look and lights up. Top end ( for me ) at DDR 4000. It is a pleasure to use my Asrock Z390 Pro4 with two sets of these babies. Great performance and smooth as silk.
Cons: not every MB takes it. not every MB gives better performance than DDR 3600 or 3200. My Ryzen 9 MB takes it but superior performance with Skill's DDR 3600. My Q370M MB does not work with this memory. I ended up with only 32gbs instead of 64gbs. To get good performance you need two sets. One set gives disappointing results.
Overall Review: For some of the MB's that take it this is great memory but you need two sets! For many MB's one set of 16 X 2 DDR 3200 or even DDR 3600 gives better results. Where it does work it is spectacular.
Great board for i7-8700K and similar CPUs if you want VPRO

Pros: This MB sells at a bargain price! Bought as I needed VPRO. Swapped CPU and hard drive to it from a Z370 Azrock board and it was immediately operational giving better performance than the old board. I then added VPro using the Control - P MEBX method as outlined by Intel. I can now start when turned off & also reprogram the VPro computer from another machine.
Cons: Intel needs to update its instruction sheet on installing VPro using MEBX &r Asrock should give instructions in its manual.
Overall Review: Will buy again when VPro needed.
