Most Favorable Review

Nice improvement over realtek

Intel EXPI9300PT Gigabit Performance to the Desktop 10/100/1000Mbps PCI-Express 1 x RJ45
Intel EXPI9300PT Gigabit Performance to the Desktop 10/100/1000Mbps PCI-Express 1 x RJ45

Pros: Better throughput and more stable than onboard realtek. Windows seems more responsive but that shouldn't be related to this card then again maybe the realtek was slowing my system down.

Cons: Installation was a pain. Used drivers from intel website. Card was detected as PRO 1000 PT Dual NIC which is wrong. Updated driver to use the PT Desktop one which is correct and card would not start. Restarted system and it worked ok. I docked it a star because of this problem.

Overall Review: It uses pci-express which at this pt we all know is going to replace pci sooner than later.

Decent but could be better

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: 4 SATA II ports, 3 PCI Express X 1 Ports It worked out of the box.

Cons: Realtek onboard NIC is pathetic or at least mine was flakey. Change it out with a nice PCI-Express NIC as soon as you can.

Required BIOS update to to Work With Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 6

G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3400 (PC4 27200) Desktop Memory Model F4-3400C16D-16GTZ
G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3400 (PC4 27200) Desktop Memory Model F4-3400C16D-16GTZ

Pros: - does not take a lot of space. Can easily seat and remove from DIMM slots. - runs at 3400 stock factory overclock after XMP BIOS updat

Cons: - None, had it in rig for a few months, no memory errors.

Overall Review: - I like blue more than red but it got the job done.

BIos Update Finally Fixed XMP Issues for GSKILL PC4 27200 RAM

GIGABYTE GA-Z170X-Gaming 6 (rev. 1.0) LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-Z170X-Gaming 6 (rev. 1.0) LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: - Lot of slots for expansion PCI-Express for video cards - Not a ton of annoying thermal armor. - Easy installation of CPU and heat sink. Did not feel like board was going to bend. - Overall construction appears to be good. This will probably last for some time.

Cons: Have to buy aftermarket TPM unit to attach to board. Would have been nice to have it come with one for bit locker or other drive encryption. Not an issue for most users.

Overall Review: - Do we really need PS2 connections - Had to flash to BIOS version F-03 to get XMP profiles to work with GSKIll 27200 RAM otherwise board would not clear POST with ram running at 3400. - XMP settings for BIOS before F-03 were non-compliant with GSKIll RAM although the memory compatibility list was honest when I bought the board.

Delivers Up to 300mbps with Time Warner Cable in El Segundo

ARRIS SURFboard SB6183 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem - 600 MHz Dual-Thread Processor
ARRIS SURFboard SB6183 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem - 600 MHz Dual-Thread Processor

Pros: Appears stable. Has not lost connection. Consistently able to get 300mbps from time warner cable in El Segundo.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Time Warner Cable selectively omits the truth about the availability of their faster internet service. Dug through some pages on their website and noticed that speeds for my old SB6101 DOCSIS 3.0 were capped at 50mbps on one of the tables and this model SB6183 was rated to support faster internet speeds. Switched to this modem (also DOCSIS 3.0) from a surfboard 6101 (SB6101) and boom speed increase from 50mbps to 300mbps on same plan. This is interesting because the SB6101 modem should be able to do way more than 50mbps. If anyone knows why Time Warner Cable has an arbitrary speed cap in effect for some modems, please let me know.

AE2 Model

Bose AE2i Audio Headphones with In-Line Mic and Apple Control- Black
Bose AE2i Audio Headphones with In-Line Mic and Apple Control- Black

Pros: Higher range of sound than the creative fatality headset they replaced. Very comfortable, especially when compared to the fatality headset. which is good because I wear my headphones 8 to 10 hours a day. Paired with a sound blaster X-FI xtreme audio.

Cons: Cord is barely long enough to use with a desktop computer.

Overall Review: I bought the AE2 (non i-phone version) of these at a common name Electronics Store to replace a creative fatality headset where the ear buds had worn out after about 3 years. BOSE sells an extension for about 20 bucks on their website., may need it if using these with a desktop. Hard to say whether these justify over 150 bucks. Guess it depends on your personal preference. How is F r y 's an inappropriate word?
