Unquestionably Superior

Pros: The reviews were right - this monitor is gorgeous. You will love it the minute you take it out of the box. Before you even turn it on, you'll notice that Westinghouse didn't waste a ton of space around the screen as do many LCD manufacturers - the design is clean, minimalist, and efficient. Although this has nothing to do with its functionality, it adds very nicely to the overall aesthetic appeal of the monitor. As a super-picky web developer that can spot a 1px gap at 1920x1200 on a 15" display, I can safely say that this thing destroys its competition with a clean, crisp display that looks great at all resolutions - I tested composite, component, d-sub and HDMI and all worked beautifully. Xbox 360 looks awesome at 1080i, even sitting two feet away :-D I spent several weeks reading reviews and looking up specs before I decided on this baby, and I can truly say I've never been happier about a purchase. You will not regret buying this monitor, *especially* considering the price. Wow.
Cons: I would agree with BioNDYale - once snapped into place, the monitor is a bit difficult to tilt (but how often do you change the tilt anyway?) I would also agree that the inputs are spaced a little too close together, and it's a bit of a pain to screw in the d-sub connector. Is it a big deal? Hardly. This monitor is so darn tall it strains my neck a bit to view it - but that's simply a natural consequence of its size. The buttons may be a bit confusing at first, but they're really not bad, I promise - the OSD is very well designed, and once you figure out the buttons you'll be cruising through it. Oh, I almost forgot - my only REAL complaint: *no audio output*. If you plan on hooking up anything other than your computer, plan on not being able to use your own speakers without a bit of hassle.
Overall Review: If the device you're hooking up has an audio output (either RCA or 3.5mm aka 1/8" phone), route that sucker to the line-input of your PC instead of sending it to the monitor - and make sure to enable line-input in your PC's sound control panel (don't forget to turn up the volume too). This is a wonderful monitor - if I could give it a rating of more than 5 eggs, I would.
Great performance for HTPC

Pros: Fast. Runs cool and quiet w/ stock fan (~38 C idle, 42 C under load). APU (integrated CPU + GPU) is fantastic; very smooth multitasking. DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA) is a big plus. Great value for your money. The multitasking on this thing is phenomenal. You can run a Handbrake encode and still be doing other things at the same time, like watching a movie or TV show or surfing the Web, and this baby doesn't even hiccup. Unless you have Task Manager running in the Windows system tray you would never know that a CPU-intensive video encode was happening based on the system responsiveness. I can't say the same for most other "value-conscious" processors I've used. Not having to buy a separate video card is pretty nice, too.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Playing 2 Blu-ray quality movies (1080p x264 w/ DTS-HD MA) simultaneously PLUS running Perfect Dark (easily the most CPU-intensive game ever made for the N64) in Project 64, and this thing barely breaks a sweat: 15% CPU usage on average, 20% peak. Encoding a 1080p Blu-ray to x264 in Handbrake takes about 7-9 hours using mid-level settings (video quality = 20, reference frames = 4, B-frames = 4, subpixel ME = 7). The stock fan/heatsink combo that comes with this thing should be more than good enough for the majority of users who aren't overclocking. I'm using this CPU with an ASRock A75M FM1 AMD A75 (Hudson D3) mobo (N82E16813157260) and G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM 1333 memory (N82E16820231311). Everything worked first try with no fuss.
Insanely fast

Pros: FAST. I mean SUPER fast. Did I mention that it's FAST? Windows 7 x64 boots (and is usable) in under 18 seconds -- consistently. That's with all the drivers, utilities, and applications for an HTPC loaded. And it literally takes like 2 seconds to shut down. Wow. Read/write speeds averaged 475 MByte/sec during my tests. That's about as close to the advertised performance specs as I've ever seen. Very impressive.
Cons: None
Overall Review: This thing is phenomenal. Buy it now. You will NOT be disappointed.
Fantastic - great for HTPC

Pros: Fast and cost effective. Great bang for your buck.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Perfect for an HTPC. More than enough memory to run Windows 7 x64 plus a 4GB RAM Disk to speed up your Media Browser cache. Read/write speeds on my RAM Disk are ridiculous (~1-2 GByte/sec for read and write). No issues whatsoever installing this in my ASRock A75M FM1 AMD A75 (Hudson D3) mobo (N82E16813157260).
Quiet and Fast - Perfect for HTPC

Pros: Rock solid performance. Quiet, fast, and extremely reliable.
Cons: Price. But that's mother nature's fault, not WD's.
Overall Review: This drive is the primary storage device in my HTPC and it works beautifully. I frequently record 1-2 shows concurrently while also watching either a 3rd channel or a movie ripped from my Blu-ray collection -- all on the same HDD. It never so much as hiccups. Unlike some reviewers, I have found this drive to be extremely quiet. With no other noise sources in the room, I have to put my ear up to the case to be able to hear anything -- even when it's reading and writing furiously (e.g., recording 2 shows and re-muxing an MKV at the same time). I've owned and installed many different brands and models of HDDs (at least 30) and this is one of the quietest drives I've ever seen under high load. If you're looking for a quiet and rock solid reliable 1TB HDD for your HTPC, server, or gaming rig (or anything else, really), look no further. This baby is as good as it gets.
"Survivor" is no joke

Pros: This thing is a beast. I work as a counselor and an IT staff at a day camp with 5-16 year old kids, so I knew I'd need something tough to withstand the constant abuse of hordes of careless children. I bought this baby because of its water- and impact-resistant design, and man, I was *not* disappointed. I got thrown in the lake twice with this thing my pocket and it still worked perfectly; not a drop of water ever got inside. But here's the best part: I (very, very foolishly) plugged my Survivor into the front USB port of a computer one of my kids was working on. Another counselor had hooked up an external DVD burner so the kids could burn their video, but he (again, very foolishly) placed the drive on the edge of the desk next to the mouse and keyboard. Sure enough, one of the kids got crazy and knocked the DVD drive off the desk and it NAILED my flash drive on the way down. (Continued in Other thoughts)
Cons: Read speed is decent, but write speed is TERRIBLE. Don't bother trying to install any PortableApps or VMs directly onto this thing. Just install them to a local hard drive and then copy 'em to your flash drive. It'll be a LOT faster. If this thing weren't so ridiculously rugged and huge, I'd probably give it about 3 stars.
Overall Review: (Continued from Pros) Now this DVD drive was really heavy, and it from fell about 3 and a half feet above where the flash drive was plugged in, so I was sure my Survivor was toast. Much to my surprise, it survived the impact beautifully. It was still plugged in, but looked like it was bent pretty badly. I pulled it out and repositioned the USB plug with my thumb and it was good as new. Plugged it back in and it was like nothing had ever happened. I couldn't believe it. Still works like a champ 5 months later. When they named this thing "Survivor", they were not kidding. I highly recommend this to anyone who needs a bomb-proof flash drive for whatever reason. Seriously, you won't regret it.
