Works great even in an old house
Pros: House is built in the 1920's with old circuits. I get consistent 240-280mbps with the adapters connected to 2 separate circuits. Get a constant 14% utilization of a 1Gb conection. More than enough for me to stream 1080p MKV files to the WD TV Live.
Cons: Was not able to change network name with the provided software even though firewall software is disabled.
BEWARE. You might not get the rebate
Pros: Pretty fast drive when it's connected via eSATA
Cons: - Louder than a few of my external drives and VelociRaptor drives - did not come with an eSATA cable
Overall Review: I bought the drive back in 2/2010. It's mid July already and I still don't have my $20 rebate. This is the message from the rebate status site: "Your rebate claim has been approved. Awaiting final approval by the manufacturer. Allow 10 to 12 weeks from the date you mailed your claim to receive your rebate check." HAHA. I am not amused.
Great deal
Pros: - Good refurbished price - Excellent wifi range - Better interface and features control than Netgear R7000
Cons: Can get quite warm to hot in the summer. Very slow NAS with the USB storage. Did not come with a network cable for the refurbished model.
Overall Review: I purchased this router new a little over a year ago for my house. Knew it's a great router that is why I bought this refurbished for my inlaw's house after the Netgear 3700 died.
Useless for network storage
Pros: Excellent network storage performance. On par with the Netgear Ultra4 when jumbo frames is disabled. Wifi signal is slightly better than my Asus RT-N66U.
Cons: I have a 750GB 2.5" USB3 connected to the USB3 port for light NAS usage. Would get disconnection when streaming videos to the WD TV Live via wired. It does not matter if it's via DLNA or network share. Often, this would crash the router too. You can't ping it anymore. Only a power off/on would clear the problem. I updated 2 newer firmwares and neither resolved the problem. This problem do not exist if I stream from the Netgear Ultra4 or from the Asus RT-N66U. This prove there is nothing wrong with my network cabling. I tried changing the R7000 from router to AP mode. I'd still experience the disconnection, but no more router crashing. All Netgear tech support can do is recommend resetting the router and update firmware. I tried messing with the QoS, that did not help.
Overall Review: If Asus can get the USB3 performance fixed in the RT-AC68U, I would buy that instead.
Overrated
Pros: - I got it for a great price after promo code, rebate and Newegg $20 GC. - Text are crisp enough for reading.
Cons: Very filmsy stand. When ever I press a button to use the OSD, the monitor wobble. For the life of me, I tried varies modes and settings and I can't get the color / brightness that is satisfactory. Standard mode is just dull, even with warm color. I end up using sRGB mode. I have several Samsung TN LCDs and they come closer to my IPS monitors like the Dell 2412U, Apple 23".
Power hungry
Pros: Got it for $90. Great for folks like me that don't print often and never have to worry if the ink dried up.
Cons: Read a review that the printer causes their light flicker. I didn't believe it. Well, I turn on the printer and my light flicker. Took it off my UPS and it still happen. Let see if this will pop the breaker in the summer time. Lousy software. After I installed the software from the CD, it kick off firmware update utility. All it did was lockup. I can't find where the executable is from the CD or local install. When I search Samsung's website for a firmware update, it does not exist. Tried Googling, same result.
