All good things come in small packages

Intel NUC Kit D34010WYK1, Mini HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, USB 3.0, 4th Gen Intel Core i3-4010U, Consumer Infrared sensor
Intel NUC Kit D34010WYK1, Mini HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, USB 3.0, 4th Gen Intel Core i3-4010U, Consumer Infrared sensor

Pros: Quite impressed with the performance of this little guy, response is very snappy for a dual core. Capable of streaming 1080p 60 FPS to multiple monitors. It's an excellent desktop replacement (time to get rid of all those huge outdated desktops) and easily mounts to rear of monitor with included vesa mount.

Cons: Non thus far

Overall Review: My NUC setup Intel 525 mSATA drive, 8GB Crucial memory and Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit. Intel Bios are also quite impressive with lot's of features which are very versatile for different configurations. For security it has Secure boot and TPM (turned off by default). I have plans to replace all my huge desktops with NUC's. The Haswell NUC's now includes power cord (it's a complete kit). Wished Intel made a dual NIC model, this would make an excellent small form Untangle Server!

EVGA Classy

EVGA 04G-P4-2988-KR GeForce GTX 980 Classified 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 ACX 2.0 PCI Express 3.0
EVGA 04G-P4-2988-KR GeForce GTX 980 Classified 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 ACX 2.0 PCI Express 3.0

Pros: I got a few of these for personal build with 2-way SLI and other builds. EVGA GTX 980 Classy rocks even at Factory OC speed. Very easy to dominate in FPS games like Battlefield 3 with the speed of this card (get accused of hacking daily because of this cards power, LOL).

Cons: Price $1400.00 for 2-way SLI (you get what you pay for)

Overall Review: Another solid performer from EVGA as to be expected. Future proof for at least 2 years.

Excellent Untangle Firewall

Jetway HBJC200F99-525-B Black Mini / Booksize Barebone System
Jetway HBJC200F99-525-B Black Mini / Booksize Barebone System

Pros: I purchased this for a replacement Untangle firewall at home. I have a 100/25 internet connection with 15 devices behind it and have no seen demand go over 5% even with streaming media server. Installed Untangle NGW 11.1 with no problems.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Makes for excellent platform to build a home router and firewall.

Good bye Windows 7, Hello Windows 8.1

Windows 8.1 64-bit
Windows 8.1 64-bit

Pros: Looking for a modern operating system, then look no further. Windows 8.1 incorporates the best from Windows 7 and Windows 8.0. Benefits: 1. Faster Boot times (at desktop with all software loaded in 10 secs compared to 35-40 secs with Windows 7 running the same hardware. 2. Faster Operating system in general compared to Windows 7 (Windows 8.1 way more responsive than Windows 7) 3. More secure than Windows 7. (Microsoft did a great job removing unnecessary coding that had not been removed in Windows 7, this excess coding can lead to security breaches, viruses and malware infections) 4. Excellent Gaming Support. 5. Easy to use. And yes you can create local or Microsoft account when installing the software.

Cons: None thus far. it's very dependable, stable and secure operating system compared to previous Microsoft operating systems.

Overall Review: Do yourself a favorite and don't listen to so called experts and en-titlist who believe things should be handed to them. These people have no clue about what they are talking about when it comes to windows 8.1. Most likely their opinion comes from inexperience and or laziness to learn new features in a operating system, therefore these internet trolls bash something they don't understand! And just so you know, when you hear someone say Windows 8.1 does support desktop computer. Tablets features have been in every Microsoft operating system dating back to Windows XP. Windows 7 is no exception. If your using a upgrade package to Windows 8.1, you must have a valid full software key prior to upgrading. According to Microsoft EULA that full software key is forfeited because you are upgrading the software (means your full software key can no longer be used since it tied to the upgrade).

  Awsome Bitfenix case

BitFenix Phenom BFC-PHE-300-KKXKK-RP Midnight Black Steel / Plastic Mini-ITX Tower Computer Case
BitFenix Phenom BFC-PHE-300-KKXKK-RP Midnight Black Steel / Plastic Mini-ITX Tower Computer Case

Pros: This is one awesome Mini-ITX case with a great finish. Using mine as a Windows 8.1 Home Server loaded with 6 - 3.5 drives and 1 - 2.5 SSD drive. And still have room for 2 more 2.5 drives on side panel, your only limited by SATA ports on motherboard. I bought some Cougar PWM fans and Corsair close loop liquid cooling system, this thing is now dead silent.

Cons: None

Overall Review: This case is capable of holding 6 - 3.5 drives and 3 - 2.5 SSD drives for a total of 9 drives in a MIni-ITX case (can't ask for more than that). I'm using SSD for Operating system with Microsoft storage spaces managing the other 6 - 3.5 drives, configured to allocate Media, storage and client backups.
