New to OCZ but impressed

OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ3RPR13334GK
OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ3RPR13334GK

Pros: Excellent performing memory with copper heat pipe cooling.

Cons: DDR3 still pricey but that goes for all DDR3, not just these modules. Prices seem to be dropping though.

Overall Review: I've used Corsair for years but decided to try OCZ due to specs and what was available for DDR 1333. The issues that some reviewers have mentioned are more than likely a problem with thier MBs/BIOS. Mine are installed on an Asus P5E3 Premium. The MB started up with the correct timings and have not had any issues whatsoever. In addition I had zero problems installing Vista Home Premium x64. It has been 100% stable. I'm about to order another pair to bring up the total memory to 8gb.

Piece of junk software

Pinnacle Studio Ultimate Version 11
Pinnacle Studio Ultimate Version 11

Pros: If it worked, it might be a decent product.

Cons: Extremely buggy software. Would sometimes lock up my original system (P4 3.0ghz, 1gb ram). I never could get it to work on my laptop (AMD Turion X2 1.9ghz, 2gb ram). Never could get the driver to work for the Pinnacle MovieBox 510-USB. Recently upgraded my system to a Intel quad 2.66ghz, 4gb ram. It constantly locks up my system. I have to hit the reset switch.

Overall Review: The offer regular "upgrades" to new versions that offer very little additional value. Yet their core software remains a piece of junk. Some people apparently get lucky and the software functions but there are serious bugs and compatibility issues. Its a good amount of money to pay for a product that doesn't work most of the time. Now they have version 12 released and I can pay another $100 for another upgrade and still most likely have a worthless software package.

Effective, great looking

ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT 2 Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink
ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT 2 Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink

Pros: Excellent performance. Easy installation but was on new MB prior to mounting in the case. Had no problems using it in Antec P182 case with ASUS P5E3 Premium MB.

Cons: Doesn't lock into place. You can still twist the entire assembly a little after all the screws are tightened.

Overall Review: Used Arctic Silver CMQ-22G Ceramique Thermal Compound. Think ahead and make any connections you need in the area before final installation. Gets a little tight in the aread if you need to get you hand down to the MB.

Solid MB w/ tons of features and nice touches

ASUS P5E3 PREMIUM/WIFI-AP @n LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS P5E3 PREMIUM/WIFI-AP @n LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Solid, stable MB as usual from ASUS with loads of features. X48 chipset, PCIe 2.0, CrossFire, etc. Supports all the latest CPUs and FSB. Can almost get lost in all the BIOS settings. Very flexible RAID (1,0,5,10,JBOD) utilizing 6 SATA II. Secondary RAID on the IDE/eSATA (1,0). Nice passive chipset cooling. Lots of nice touches such as Q-connect. Ability to update BIOS using USB flash drive.

Cons: Some features I consider gimmicks such as Express Gateway and I have no use for Wifi. While I have found ASUS MBs to be excellent, sometimes their software leaves something to be desired such as their AI utility. Took some searching to find the RAID driver on the CD during Vista install (used CD and not floppy). Then there was a quirk in the MB driver install within Vista that tries to force the creation of a RAID driver floppy after a system restart. I didn't bother with installing a floppy drive but finally got past it.

Overall Review: I always grab the latest BIOS when I get a new MB and I love the ability to flash a new BIOS using a USB drive instead of a floppy. Applied the new BIOS before attempting to load the OS software so I avoided any issues some have had. The system as been 100% stable with no crashes. Running Vista Home Premium x64 with Q9450, 4gb OCZ Reaper, 2x HD 3870OC 512mb, striped Raptors, Zalman CNPS9500 CPU cooler.
