Blown away

42" 720p LCD HDTV
42" 720p LCD HDTV

Pros: The price is super low, and this TV is HUGE and beautiful! Great picture quality! HD Tuner built in - surfing can be as easy as plugging in your cable. Tons of inputs, great brightness, awesome scaling, sturdy, built well, and the remote lights up. TV was built with everything in mind; use your computer, VCR, Tivo, whatever. I’m an avid gamer, so ghosting/lag was a huge concern for me – but there is none! Response time is super fast, no digital artifacts at all, and the black levels are amazing. The menu is easy to use, but no need to tweak - the TV was looking great right OTB! The speakers looked ugly in all the pictures I saw, but in person they complement the TV well. I was surprised to find they sound GREAT, too! They ARE removable, and can mounted on the sides. I’ll be storing mine, and using the TV’s optical output with my home theater receiver. The firmware is upgradeable via USB - easy as pie. 1 year manufacturer warranty, and they offer extended warranties for a bit more $$.

Cons: Hrmm... Can't think of many right now. You have to flip through all the inputs in order to get to the one you want (i.e. say input 1 is component 1 and I'm on component 2, which is input 2, I have to switch through input 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. until it gets back to one). This is merely a minor inconvenience. The remote doesn't have all the button names printed on the buttons, so even though the buttons light up, the names can't be seen in the dark. Was watching Lost DVD's and noticed the top part of the screen was 'folded over' a bit. Read some reviews that this might happen, but progressive scan fixes it. I think it was my fault though, as I had my Xbox 360 set to SD instead of HD (woops). Haven't tried the Lost DVD's since I fixed my mistake, but no other sources did that. The instruction manual is on CD, so that's kind of an inconvenience, but it saves trees I guess. Olevia must be a bunch of tree huggers. Tree huggers who know how to make an AWESOME HDTV at an astronomically LOW price!

Overall Review: This TV won't disappoint. Don't be put off by the brand name on the TV. For the price, you can't beat this quality! Even though it is recertified, it works and looks like pure gold. Platinum, even! Great stuff. Best Buy will rip you off of a TV of a lesser caliber. All of my friends are amazed by the price. The pictures I’ve seen don’t do this TV justice. Came with all accessories, shipped on Friday, got to my house Monday night at about 7pm. AIT was great, and even helped me carry it up my stairs to my 2nd floor apartment (through deep snow and ice)! I was worried that the TV would be borked on arrival, but AIT took good care of my baby. The packaging was decent, nothing special, but it did the job and kept my TV safe! Newegg has been great, too! All in all, this purchase has made me an extremely happy camper. Feel free to contact me at if you want pictures or more info.

Most Critical Review

expensive, too little space

Microsoft Xbox 360 512MB Memory Unit
Microsoft Xbox 360 512MB Memory Unit

Pros: It works, it transfers game saves, media, gamer profiles

Cons: 512 MB?! What the deuce?! If I'm paying almost $50, I expect to get way more than 512 MB. In fact, not even all 512 are actually partitioned memory blocks (i.e. you don't get to use the tru 512 MB, it's more like 480 MB). Lame!

Overall Review: When you want to transfer save game files, you have to transfer the gamer profile to the memory unit, then log out and back in using the memory unit (otherwise it keeps you on the console). This was a stupid security measure M$ decided would keep people from sharing game saves all over the place. Totally lame. It took me about 2 hours to transfer all my roommates' game saves, profiles and media to their X360 when I moved out. I hated it. I wish there was an easier, faster way.

Works properly

ASUS EA-N66 Dual-Band Wireless-N900, 3 in 1 Access Point/Repeater/Gigabit Ethernet Adapter IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n 1 x RJ-45 Ethernet port Up to 450Mbps downlink + 450Mbps uplink Wireless recertified

Pros: Refurbished, so good price. Looks nice and clean. Works.

Cons: A bit of a pain in the neck to set up. Asus doesn't have the best system in play to log in to this little doohickey.

Overall Review: When you're setting it up, make sure you are patient on the asusrouter.com website. For the longest time, I thought it was just a regular website. That is, until I let it sit there while I went to grab some food. When I came back, it had a login sitting there waiting for me. Tested and confirmed that it just takes several minutes for the website to register you have this extender plugged in. After that, set up is a breeze. You can set it to be an extension of your network quite easily. Once you have it all set up, unplug it, and plug it back in anywhere in range of your current wireless network (sans any CAT cables), and you're good to go!

Super efficient, super quiet

EVGA SuperClocked 012-P3-1573-AR GeForce GTX 570 HD w/Display-Port (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
EVGA SuperClocked 012-P3-1573-AR GeForce GTX 570 HD w/Display-Port (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Pros: Quiet. Can hardly tell it's running. Cool. Only ever got it up to 85c Efficient. Hardly ever do I use more that 75% of this card's resources. The precision software that it comes with is useful. I have a Logitech G510 keyboard, and the information it displays allows me to keep track of how this beast of a card is handling. Overclocking is a walk in the park, although I run it stock and it runs fine. Consistent 60+ FPS on highest settings on SW: TOR, Amnesia, Battlefield 3, etc. Of course, this depends on the rest of your rig, too.

Cons: Cost. But you won't find a better bang for your buck. Even though the car runs cool for what it is, it still heats my small room up with that dry heat when I'm pushing the card's limits.

Overall Review: I am a professional video game designer, and I do a lot of freelance work at home. I researched my next purchase in video cards pretty extensively, as I was replacing some old 8800 GTs on SLi. This beast of a card runs pretty much everything I throw at it. I have seen a MAJOR performance increase in gaming, Maya 2012, and Adobe CS5. My Rig: Mobo: EVGA X58 FTW3 132-GT-E768-KR LGA 1366 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard Processor: Intel Core i7-930 Bloomfield 2.8GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80601930 Memory: G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8TU-6GBPI GPU: Obviously this card. Sweet deal!

OLYMPUS Stylus 1030 SW Black 10.1 MP 2.7" 230K LCD 3.6X Optical Zoom Waterproof Shockproof 28mm Wide Angle Digital Camera
OLYMPUS Stylus 1030 SW Black 10.1 MP 2.7" 230K LCD 3.6X Optical Zoom Waterproof Shockproof 28mm Wide Angle Digital Camera

Pros: Water proof, shock proof, freeze proof, ninja proof, beer proof. It takes super huge pictures (10.1 mp is nice!), has some neat-o features, and is durable as all get out. Get the super huge 2gb m+ flash memory card, and you'll be able to take hundreds of pictures on the highest setting, or thousands on the lowest! The little LED light is super helpful.

Cons: Battery runs out fairly fast, so you'll want to use the power save option (although this may cause you to miss a photo opportunity), and the battery must be taken out of the camera to be charged (no power cord). The auto-focus kind of sucks, but what would you expect with a point and shoot? The panorama also doesn't work quite as expected--you're better off with a good eye and some Photoshop skills. Screen is kind of hard to see in strong daylight. Delay from pressing the capture button to when the photo is shot is kind of slow--like most digital cameras. Remedy this by using the hi-speed shutter setting.

Overall Review: You have to get used to this camera. It's kind of picky, but if you get the settings right and you know how to time and light your shots, you'll do well. It's super awesome to joke around with people and drop it in your beer or the water or something. You may also want to get a screen guard for the LCD--I scratched the hell out of mine going on adventures! Overall-SUPER AWESOME BUY!

cheap, works

SONY PS3 Memory Card Adaptor
SONY PS3 Memory Card Adaptor

Pros: It works just fine!

Cons: No USB cable included, make sure you have the one that came with your PS3 or an extra one you can use (Large male port on one side, small male port on the other).

Overall Review: It's pretty much a one time use kinda thing... But, hey, it's cheap.
