Great gigabit router

D-Link Xtreme Gigabit Router (DIR-655) Wireless N300, USB SharePort, Gigabit
D-Link Xtreme Gigabit Router (DIR-655) Wireless N300, USB SharePort, Gigabit

Pros: The gigabit side of this router is awesome, the Wi-fi has been working flawlessly, and the router has a lot of extra features. Haven't seen any random restarts or screwups yet, which is a big improvement over my previous experiences.

Cons: The software wants to do automatic setups but if you know what you want to do its sometimes hard to find the setting for it on the configuration pages.

Most Critical Review

One never made it past the warranty and the other 2 months after

TOSHIBA DT01ACA300 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
TOSHIBA DT01ACA300 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Not much

Cons: I've had dozens of hard drives over the years and I'm never buying from Toshiba again. One hard drive didn't make it through the warranty period of a year and the other broke down 2 months later. They weren't even being used heavily, most of the time they were at rest.

Won't output HDMI and VGA

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 Low Profile Ready Graphics Card 100292DDR3L
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 Low Profile Ready Graphics Card 100292DDR3L

Pros: None

Cons: I bought this to replace my HD43xx that was having fan issues. When I plug my older VGA monitor and my HDMI monitor into it the system starts freaking out trying to change the monitor resolutions on both and ends up in a loop that makes it unusable.

Needs BIOS update out of box

Intel BOXD510MO Intel Atom D510 Intel NM10 Mini ITX Motherboard / CPU Combo
Intel BOXD510MO Intel Atom D510 Intel NM10 Mini ITX Motherboard / CPU Combo

Pros: Has everything a system needs except the RAM and Hard Drive. I plugged in an older ATX (v2.03) power supply and it's working great so far.

Cons: I was installing Ubuntu from a USB cd drive and USB stick but the install would complete only for the system to not find the boot information on the hard drive. I went through this a few times before checking the BIOS version. Also you can't update to the latest BIOS version without install the previous one that came before it. Kind of dumb that way. Lost about 2 evenings getting this resolved.

Overall Review: Perfect board for a network file server since you can plug in an old PCI card RAID card and hook up some old IDE hard drives. Gigabit NIC is good as well.

Crashes

ZyXEL NBG318SKIT-400-SP 3-in-1 Wireless Router with 200 Mbps Powerline HomePlug AV Adapter IEEE 802.11g
ZyXEL NBG318SKIT-400-SP 3-in-1 Wireless Router with 200 Mbps Powerline HomePlug AV Adapter IEEE 802.11g

Pros: It works great out of the box and setup is a breeze.

Cons: I have it setup with wireless, wired, and power line. Seems to crash when I'm watching HD video between one computer and another while using the internet. I'm not even using bittorrent when it crashes.

Overall Review: I don't think I'd buy it again if I knew that it would be crashy.

Arcosteel Mandoline Food Slicer
Arcosteel Mandoline Food Slicer

Pros: This is a good one to have around if you use it once in a while. The spacing is somewhat adjustable for full slices by flipping the plate, one way doubles the normal size of the slices. The ridges on the handle and blade side let you put this over a bowl and hold it in place better.

Cons: The safety device uses pins to hold the food in place from the top so it sucks for oranges and other citrus. The other plates besides the slicing one haven't been very useful for anything.

Overall Review: I've cut my fingers just about everyone other time using this when switching the plates or cleaning it.
