Seagate Samsung Spinpoint M8 ST1000LM024 (HN-M101MBB/EX2) 1TB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Works great.

Cons: None

Overall Review: I was looking for a drive to install into my Xbox 360 to keep all my games/DLC on. I installed this about a month ago now and its still working perfect. The loads times are faster than using a disc and after moving over 30 games and over 40 arcades games including DLC and I still have over 800GB lefts. Great!

Most Critical Review
EVERCOOL SB-F2 Case Cooling Fan
EVERCOOL SB-F2 Case Cooling Fan

Pros: This thing moves alot of air. Plain and simple. Simple 4 pin connector, easy to install.

Cons: Technically as advertised it does take up 1 PCI slot, however it does have hangover onto the next PCI from the fan. The exhaust itself is 1 PCI slot. You can't really put 2 next to each other, but if you had some room between your last PCI slot and your PSU, then you could put it there to only take up 1. Thats 1 star for taking up more space than specified. Next is the sound. I realized this would be a problem when i bought it, anything that moves this much air especially with such a high static pressure is going to make quite a bit of noise. I wanted some extra cooling, but good Lord, at what cost. Even after turning down all my other fans, it sounds like I have added an entire Xbox 360 to my system. I do think the manufacturer could've helped this in two ways. 1. There is a little metal clip most PCI slots have that secure the base of it to the metal of the case. This is absent in this, so the only thing actually holding it down is the screws at the top. Installing it at the base initially is very awkward. 2. The plastic casing of the fan definitely doesn't help. Maybe if they were joined together, or the inner parts were metal, but the vibrations are just too much for me. So 1 star for noise...

Overall Review: I did something very dumb and ordered 2 of these before I read the reviews thinking they took up 1 PCI slot, so 1 has gone upopened. Now I installed 1 and I think I'm just going to remove it. If they weren't so cheap, I'd be much more upset.... Maybe I could sell em online.

Works Great

Applebee's $25 Gift Card (Email Delivery)
Applebee's $25 Gift Card (Email Delivery)

Pros: Discovered I was on my own for dinner, and I didn't want to spend any money. Then I remembered I had money left over in my paypal. It was either transfer to my bank account, which usually takes a day or so to process, or buy this gift card. I chose this way, and an hour later I had steak.

Cons: Instant email delivery? 6 minutes later! No really, I was expecting this to take awhile to process, but my hunger barely noticed.

Overall Review: Next time I get some BTC sent to me, I'm gunna try to use that to buy Burger King.

Quality Board, probably over my head

SUPERMICRO MBD-X10SLL-F-O uATX Server Motherboard LGA 1150 DDR3 1600
SUPERMICRO MBD-X10SLL-F-O uATX Server Motherboard LGA 1150 DDR3 1600

Pros: I ordered this for a home NAS build 2 months ago and it was amazing. I've never dealt with a server board before, so this was definitely a learning experience. This outperforms all my expectations. I didn't notice any difference going from dual to triple LAN, but I did notice a huge difference in going from my old NAS' 1x100Mb/s connection to 2x1000Mb/s connections. I can transfer files at incredible speeds all while streaming movies to my PC and BluRay player. I thought it was weird that there was a USB3.0 slot sticking straight out of the motherboard, but then I realized it all made sense when I considered I was installing my OS to a USB drive. The only thing that would make that better is a second slot just like it for dual OS drives, haha.

Cons: One problem I had with this board was the amount of force required. Usually in a PC build if I have to apply a lot of force, I think something is going wrong somewhere. An excessive amount of force was needed when lowering the load arm for the CPU mount after installing the CPU. I loosened the screw as much as possible, slid it down, then tightened the screw a little and it worked. Another place where more than a good amount of force was required was installing the DIMMs. This actually led to another problem as I when I booted the system it would display an error code I could not find any documentation for online. It must have meant the DIMMs weren't installed correctly, because I forced them in as hard as I could without snapping the board and they eventually clicked in. I'm considering ordering another 16GB of RAM, but I'm worried about installing them...

Great Drive for NAS

WD Red Plus 4TB NAS Hard Disk Drive - 5400 RPM Class SATA 6Gb/s, CMR, 64MB Cache, 3.5 Inch - WD40EFRX
WD Red Plus 4TB NAS Hard Disk Drive - 5400 RPM Class SATA 6Gb/s, CMR, 64MB Cache, 3.5 Inch - WD40EFRX

Pros: - Ordered 5 of these 2 months ago with 0 DOAs so far for RAID6. Works flawlessly. - I can transfer to my NAS at up to >100MB/s. Compared to the 10MB/s I got with my old NAS, I'm in love. - I was considering going with the newer 6TB drives, but I've always preferred base-2 drives, 1TB, 2TB, 4TB etc. Idk why, just a preference. Not only that but since I got these on sale, they were quite a bit cheaper per TB than the 6TB drives.

Cons: The only con I can think of I would never take an egg off for because its the problem that all drive manufactures do. In computers, the prefixes are on a 1024 scale, not 1000. 5 x 4TB HDDs in RAID6 would give 12TB of usable space. But do the math and I end up only getting 10.9TB.... Robbed of an entire terabyte of usable space. Not only that but I left it open to another RAID6 5-drive array to double my space eventually, which would mean another terabyte gone.

Overall Review: NewEgg... What has happened to the delivery service? I ordered all my parts at once, paid all at once. After watching my packages sit in a warehouse on the tracking website all weekend, I received 4 different packages on Monday, 2 from UPS and 2 from FedEx. The worst part of all was that the DIMMs I absolutely NEEDED to run my build were still in a transit in a seperate 5th package that I needed to wait for. So I had my NAS all built and ready, and got to sit there and stare at it till the DIMMs arrived. That was great, thx.

Works Great

Rosewill RCW-618 USB to IDE / SATA Adapter - Supports Windows 7
Rosewill RCW-618 USB to IDE / SATA Adapter - Supports Windows 7

Pros: Works great. Been using it to gather data from old IDE drives before I wipe them. Comes in a compact little box that I will be holding onto, small enough to be portable (not that I need it to be).

Cons: Not USB3.0. Definitely not going to take an egg off for this, as its clearly labeled as 2.0 and if I really needed 3.0 I would've payed the extra $$$.

Overall Review: Packaged in here as well are 1x2.5" and 1x3.5" rubber drive "enclosures"? I guess I would call them holders, but they're pretty nifty. I can't find them online anywhere, but if they were cheap enough I might be tempted to order a few...
