Update for Vista doesn't work
Pros: It's a hard-drive. It hooks up to USB2. It's big.
Cons: Until the software works -- this is just another big hard-drive. Certainly NOT worth the extra amount paid if the One Touch feature is crippled or broken.
Overall Review: The software is the only differentiator for this type of product. I wish I had just gotten a regular drive and used Windows backup software since that seems to work just fine.
Whole directories lost?
Pros: - Relatively fast. - Shock-proof for a laptop.
Cons: - I just had a directory *poof*! reported as corrupt and can't open by Windows. So my work there is lost.
Overall Review: I bought this to replace a HD on a laptop, because of the shock-proof quality of solid state disks. I had expected that after being around for this many years, the technology would be stable. Apparently not true. I really don't care about any other feature if the drive isn't reliable. This product is a joke. I might only consider this in a pair RAID, but even with that I hesitate.
only WEP worked for me
Pros: good range
Cons: I couldn't get this to work for any authentication other than Open (no authenticaton) or WEP. WPA2 AES, WPA TKIP and WPA2 mixed wouldn't work.
Overall Review: My RMA comments: "This only works for WEP or no authentication. Will not connect to WPA2 AES nor WPA TKIP or WPA2 Mixed. I tried to connect to 2 different routers, and change modes. I also downloaded the latest Encore drivers, which were already up to date upon install. I can't use this if it only works with WEP. 2 stars."
