CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-750TX 750 W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Compatible with New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: This is a followup to my previous review on 12/2/2008. After installing the HD 4870 the power supply didn't even break a sweat! It oozes awesome sauce. My friend just commented on the build after he got his Alienware M17, and he wishes he would have built another desktop so he could have the bag the power supply came in. The power rails are extremely tight I must say, the 3.3v is exactly 3.301! the 5v is 5.03 and the 12v rail is 12.06, clean consistent power keeps a system working like it should and helps eliminate problems before they happen. Oh and by the way, cutting corners here can cost you hundreds, just don't do it, spend at LEAST $125 or more on a good solid power supply for a mid to high end build. Also, word of warning, wattage doesn't matter as much as Amps, a 9800GT uses 18 amps on the 12v rail alone, I've seen 600w supplies with even less, be cautious, anything above 40amps will do just fine :)

Cons: pfff....are you serious? Flawless design and silence.

Overall Review: The bag is good luck, my customer said I could have it as a souvenir and whenever it's on my desk I always take the least damage and kill the most zombies when playing Left 4 Dead. Get a bag now!

Disappointed

14K White Gold 1/3 Carat Diamond Engagement Ring
14K White Gold 1/3 Carat Diamond Engagement Ring

Pros: Decent quality diamonds.

Cons: Pictures are worthless, this dealer really needs more than one photo, took a gamble because I trust newegg, and I trusted that they would have quality products on their marketplace. I was incorrect in this assumption.

Overall Review: Ring is hollow underneath of diamonds, not just a little either, I understand that due to the nature of the design it would be this way, however it is appalling at the lack of quality aside from the diamonds. Sizing was good though. Probably won't buy again...ever.

Great little open source router

Rosewill RNX-N300RT, Wireless N300 Wi-Fi Router, IEEE 802.11b/11g/11n, Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates, 2x 5dBi Fixed Antennas, DD-WRT Open Source Support
Rosewill RNX-N300RT, Wireless N300 Wi-Fi Router, IEEE 802.11b/11g/11n, Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates, 2x 5dBi Fixed Antennas, DD-WRT Open Source Support

Pros: Easily modded to use DD-WRT firmware, which opens up a whole host of options. Has surprisingly good reception, especially when 40mhz bands are used vs. the default 20mhz. Overall, it took approximately 15 min to configure and install the router, and that was with having to do a factory reset once b/c i messed up a setting. These two routers run 24/7x365, or at least for the past month solid. No issues, good connection with capable wireless cards. Overall CHEAP solution to wireless bridges

Cons: No cons, save for the fast ethernet, wish it was gigabit.

Overall Review: Using two of these as wireless bridges, one for my ps3, raspberry pi media center and yamaha receiver. The other is giving net access to my desktop upstairs and whatever else I want up there eventually lol.

Better than Expected!

Pioneer SP-BS21-LR Bookshelf Loudspeakers Pair
Pioneer SP-BS21-LR Bookshelf Loudspeakers Pair

Pros: Non-Distorted Highs, Great Mids, and more bass than I was expecting! I want a pair for myself, but I live in an apartment and don't want to irritate my neighbors. They would make excellent Rear or Front speakers in a 5.1 or 7.1 setup. The staging is near perfect at about 6-10 feet away at an elevation of 3-5 feet. These pump out serious air, I'd recommend leaving room behind these if near a wall to allow full resonance.

Cons: I suppose there could be a little more bass, but that's my personal taste in music (Drum and Bass). His music hits all over the place so not a con for most. I still don't have a pair myself? They're too inexpensive and can be easily overlooked. Won't overthrow speakers that cost 5x as much, maybe a lower goal, like 2-3x as much is more achievable.

Overall Review: Hooked these up to my father in law's aging system (old speakers caught on fire due to old age and dust). A 50wX2 Ch. receiver pushes these. They sound perfect and he loves music and is an avid listener and found zero faults. Be careful, it's easy to overload these speakers at only 6 Ohms. His receiver is around 8 yrs old and still puts out plenty of power, and is hitting near the 80w max of these speakers and they don't complain a bit.

The Masterpiece that never was...

ASUS Radeon HD 6950 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity EAH6950 DCII/2DI4S/1GD5
ASUS Radeon HD 6950 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity EAH6950 DCII/2DI4S/1GD5

Pros: This card had everything I had wanted, vertical facing power inputs, hdmi over dvi, power, "silence", looks and rigid Asus engineering.

Cons: It all came crashing down as I received a defective unit, and in one fell swoop tarnished Asus' name in my mind, this is a first in many Asus products that I have received a faulty unit. This one had a knack for keeping the fan at 100% no matter how much I pleaded with it.

Overall Review: Not sure if I'll get another Asus product after getting burned like this, I mean I own 2 other Video cards of which are Asus and an N61jq laptop. But shelling out this much cash for a dead unit is unacceptable.

Great Laptop for anyone!

ASUS Laptop N61 Series Intel Core i7-720QM 4GB Memory 320GB HDD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 16.0" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit N61JQ-X1
ASUS Laptop N61 Series Intel Core i7-720QM 4GB Memory 320GB HDD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 16.0" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit N61JQ-X1

Pros: Obviously the Specifications speak for themselves, but I am most impressed with the actual gaming performance and the overall aesthetics of the laptop. Simply put, I can play Modern Warfare 2 at max settings at a business meeting :). The rubberized finish on the interior palm rests is a huge plus, it eliminates fingerprints and it is pleasing to the touch. Relatively lightweight, well for me, it has classy white leds which add to it's charm, but aren't too distracting during nighttime use or when it's on overnight. -5730 games like a beast, clocks are 650 core/shader and 800 memory or 1900 effective -SRS premium sounds do wonders for headset gaming! -Power4Gear software is really cool with it's OSD and how quickly it takes effect. -I get about 2hrs and 30 minutes on battery saver! which is good if you know what you're buying...a quad core w/ dedicated video will never have 6 hrs! be realistic guys! -1 year ADW!!! -runs every program I've thrown at it.

Cons: -Glossy screen -Glossy Lid-I really dont like fingerprints -Touchpad could be slightly bigger -It does get toasty while gaming, but is quickly remedied with exiting the game -would have preferred dedicated "next" and "previous" buttons on the upper portion of the laptop for music. -Smallish hard drive, but not that big of a deal. -Screen resolution is only 1366x768, i would have loved 1600x900 or 1080p, however with the gpu in this guy it is probably as high as you'd want to go, any higher and you couldn't turn up the options and still have native res. so that your games look crisp. -Screen has a bit of a washed out look, but adjust your color preferences and it should be nicer! -Wish there were driver updates! comeon ATI/AMD! Hopefully they implement the digital vibrance option like Nvidia does for their color options.

Overall Review: -Got a score of 354 in Unigine Heaven DX11 benchmark @ 1280x1024, not too much lower than my friend's with the G73JH (has a mobile 5870), he got a 455. -Stays within operating temps during gaming, gpu idle is roughly 55C (my house is like 68F all the time). -During heavy gaming, the gpu will spike to 80C and it hovers around there but no higher. -I recommend a cooling pad, I bought the Thermaltake Massive23 ST. -Doesn't break the bank, but still games hardcore! -Have tried L4D, L4D2, MW2, Killing Floor, Race Driver: GRID, and all of these have Framerates of 45+ with all the options and native resolution. -Average Temperature with Cooling Pad is 50C idle, while gaming, Temp hits roughly 75C -Comes with a crapton of bloatware! 95 processes idle! -Got it cut down to 70, but still i may reformat with 7 Ultimate.
