Works Perfectly
Pros: Configurable. This device allows you to select 5 or 12 volt operation on each of the two ports. You can put 5 on one and 12 on the other. Very handy for those real world serial device needs.
Cons: None that I found.
Overall Review: Used this to write and application that speaks thru serial ports. Wired up a null modem connection and tested just fine. Allowed me to develop and test the application on a single PC.
Disappointed
Pros: Very Very easy install
Cons: Computer hung regularly during data transfers when I had these devices attached to both my HP laptop, docking station, and external 10 port USB hub. no vent holes for heat so sometimes they would get quite hot
Overall Review: I purchased two of these enclosures to house my game library on a 3GB and a 4GB Western Digital HD that I had to attach to my laptop after I decided to stop using my very outdated desktop. I continued to have issues with the system hanging when doing long data transfers to the drives. It did not matter if I had 1 or 2 of them connected, I would regularly have my pc hang and sometimes my razer keyboard and mouse would 'reset' while doing game installs. I moved the same drives to another enclosure that I had purchased after a few weeks of trying to find a way to fix the issue. It is not ideal because the other enclosure is the style where you plug the drive in from the top. It was meant for temporarily adding drives for backups and data transfers.
Defective, poor design.
Pros: Designed similarly to one that works wonderfully, but this one doesn't
Cons: I own two of these now and they both have troubles. I also own another that is extremely similar in physical appearance that works wonderfully. I purchased two of these and Windows seldom recognizes the device correctly. I have to repeatedly plug it into the USB port to be recognized. Also, if you plug the power supply into the unit and into a USB port but not to a power outlet the LED lights on the power supply. I feel that this is a poor design. The LED on the power supply should be to show you the power supply is working.
Pros: Plenty of storage space, of which not all is available unless you have a relatively new PC.
Cons: Failed after 3 months.
Overall Review: I have purchased many, many Seagate barracuda drives and this is the first time they have failed in the warranty period. I'm disappointed in this fact. I had always held them in such high regard. The last set of (4) 1 TB drives I purchased all failed just after the 1 year warranty period which left a bitter taste in my mouth. So I will only purchase drives from now on with 3+ year warranty periods. But after decades of using Seagate Barracuda drives, my trust is still high. Just slightly scuffed now.
Worth every penny
Pros: for under $70 worth every penny. Running dual core with Starcraft 2 on High/Ultra with no extra power required.
Cons: Unable to plug in HDMI most all cables/adapters i have and a very small lip on the edge of the card mount on my case cause me to be unable to plug anything into the HDMI connection. Even an HDMI connector with no hood around it.
Overall Review: 5 eggs, except for no room on the HDMI adapter. Since my case is partically the issue, I didn't remove an egg.
Worked without a hitch
Love the push buttons and not rocker switches.
