Very Good

Corsair Vengeance 1300 3.5mm Connector Circumaural Analog Gaming Headset
Corsair Vengeance 1300 3.5mm Connector Circumaural Analog Gaming Headset

Pros: Comortable. The memory foam is good even with my glasses on. The headset is light which typically indicates a lot of plastic in them but they won't weigh on your head and they feel solid. Good sound IF you take the time tweek them. Mic seems fine but I haven't tested it thoroughly yet. The audio reproduction is very crisp and clear. I am hearing things when playing music that has been muddled by other headsets I own. This require tweeking to get to sound good. You MUST have a equalizer at the very least to set the balances. I found that if you boost the 62 and 125 HZ range, there is MORE than enough bass even at lower volumes - and it is clean bass, too. Very nice. You may also need to boost the 1K to 2K range to get the voices to not sound hollow. This, again, depends on your source. Personally, I am powering this with a aftermarket USB soundcard - Creative xfi go! - and it works great. A enthusiat soundcard would make it even better.

Cons: They start out pretty large. If you have a small head these might not work for you. I don't have a small head and the cups on these reach down to my jaw which I am not used to. Part of this may be the 50mm drivers. To the degree people are looking for this, this is NOT a plug and play headset and it probably requires more than an onboard audio chip to make sound decent. Most of the complaints about sound here are probably from people who expected to just plug the headset in to their onboard audio and have it sound fantastic. Well, as with all higher end audio equipment, they simply get better at reproducing your source material. If you have a cheap audio source like onboard audio, this headset will point that out for you really quickly.

Overall Review: Always approach reviews of audio equipment with caution. In the age of MP3s, compressed audio, and earbuds, I really believe that a lot of people don't know what good sound is like anymore. "Lack of bass" might mean that the headset doesn't boom with the type muddled, overpowered bass that most people have grown accustomed to from most mid-line consumer audio equipment. That said, when I first plugged in the 1300, I was immediately disappointed but then I just took some time messing with settings and I realized just how good the headset was. It is not the best set of headphones I have had the privelege of using but it is probably the best gaming headset I have used. Final thought, even though this is plastic almost everywhere, it seems pretty solid. My biggest complaint about gaming headsets is that they break even with careful and normal use. The only thing that looks vulnerable to me on this headset is the mic. It doesn't tuck away quite as well as I would like.

Pros: Its a drive with good features and its cheap. Looks nice.

Cons: It doesn't really work all that well. Newegg advertises this that it is supposed to contain the firmware update and software CD - it doesn't as many have mentioned. As a result, certain DVDs with newer encoding (and I am talking within the last 2 years or so - Avatar, Band of Brothers, etc.) do not play well and the drive hangs, creating artifacts in the playback. I have tried this with multiple players and codec setups. I was getting better playback using PowerDVD to stream HD youtube videos. Sad. I contacted newegg, they said they would look in the warehouse and get back to me. No one called/emailed. Contacting ASUS customer support is horrible. They actively attempt to make their customer support difficult to find on their website which is an indicator that they don't really have any. This was confirmed when the customer service person who got back to me basically insulted me, said that they didn't have any access to their own firmware, and told me to contact the vendor.

Overall Review: All around a horrible experience and I will be staying away from all ASUS products in the future because they clearly don't support their own products or care very much about customer satisfaction It is possible that if you buy the retail version of this drive that it works fine with a firmware update CD. I won't be taking that chance. Newegg eventually ponied up and is letting me return the drive for a refund. I find it odd that they continue to advertise this product with a disk in the picture and E-Hammer in the description when it comes with neither.

Solid Cooler w/ some small issues

CORSAIR Hydro Series H60 (CWCH60) High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
CORSAIR Hydro Series H60 (CWCH60) High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

Pros: I am runninga i5-760 overclocked to about 3.4 Ghz. My idle temps are around 35 degrees which is what the stock fan was holding at stock clock speeds. At 100% load, I never go above 60 degrees (Celsius, by the way) which is about 30 degrees cooler than what the stock fan was doing, again at stock speeds. So, while most people will tell you this is not meant for extreme overclocking, this thing can handle quite a bit. While I don't claim that an i5-760 at 3.4 Ghz qualifies as "extreme" overclocking, I have rarely head of people getting a stable overclock much higher than that. Anyway, the short of it is that the new i5 and i7 chips are running much cooler than past processors and often times nothing more than an H60 is really needed to keep it at reasonable tempertures. Additionally, I bought this because I travel with my PC at times and I did not like the idea of a heavy air cooler heat sink pulling on my motherboard.

Cons: 1. Corsair's included screws have a rounded head instead of a flat head. While this did not affect the ability to mount the product, the curved top was incompatible with my case because a lip for the side panel overlaps with the screw hols for my back fan slot. This meant I had to go through the fun process of finding a matching screw with a flat head at a hardware store. They should know this is an issue if they tested the product for case compatibility beyond their own product line and included flat head screws. 2. Corsair does not sell their radiator fans or their PWM splitters separately. It should be pointed out that they have NO product that uses this thin style radiator with a duel fan set up. So, for those of us that want a push-pull set up but don't have room for an H70 or and H80, we are forced to then buy TWO aftermarket fans and a PWM splitter to make this happen, for a significant additional cost. You have to have matching fans if you want them to sync. DISAPPOINTING!

Overall Review: Earth to Corsair - start selling the fans separately or sell an H65 with the same radiator and a duel fan set up... Tell me Corsair, what do you plan to do in a few years when these fans start to fail from long term use? Tell your loyal customer that they must buy a whole new cooler? Please... Side note: As I understand it, the thermal paste included on the cpu block is graphite based which is a more efficient compound than silver based thermal paste. Some people choose to scrape this off and use the highly regarded artic silver 5. Personally, I left the stock paste on and I am still getting great results. I don't think it is needed to replace the paste. Not worth the hassel or extra cash.

Cooler Master Sleeve Bearing 120mm Blue LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators (Value 2-Pack)
Cooler Master Sleeve Bearing 120mm Blue LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators (Value 2-Pack)

Pros: They start out nice. They blow a good amount of air.

Cons: LEDs fade after a few months. One LED on one of the fans died in under 6 months. The fans are louder than advertised. They are rated at a lower decibel than the fans I had but are in actuality louder. These are now the loudest fans in my machine.

Overall Review: Good value I suppose but clearly not the most reliable LEDs. Fans are still quiet just not as quiet as I hoped.

Clarifying confusion

GELID Solutions WING 14 UV Blue FN-FW14B-12 140mm Case Fan
GELID Solutions WING 14 UV Blue FN-FW14B-12 140mm Case Fan

Pros: 1. Comes with a voltage limiter for silent operation. 2. This thing moves a ton of air at top speed and is silent with the limiter attached. 3. Beautiful. I don't have a black light to make it pop but even the fan by itself is gorgeous. 4. Very high quality sleeving. The confusion about the noise in the other reviews seems to be that this fan has two connection options. Plugging the fan in alone for high speed and higher air flow or using the limiter. Without the limiter, this is designed to be performance (not silent) fan that moves a ton of air. The limiter provides a silent operation (it is near silent) with decent air flow.

Cons: 1. The nanoflux bearing is good by design but it has one quirk. When the fan starts up it is a little loud until it settles in on the bearing and then it quiets down. It is possible that other reviewers here perceive this fan to louder than it really is as a result of this oddity. I knew this going in from looking at video reviews so it didn't catch me by surprise as it might for some. 2. There were no instructions as to how to use the rubber fasteners to install the fan. A brief "they go this way and this is how you squeeze them into place" picture would have been nice. 3. Expensive but you get what you pay for.

Overall Review: I am not sure why someone complained about it not fitting in their case fan slot. This fan has two sets of drill-ins to accomodate different 140mm fan slots. Either they have changed the design since he wrote that or his case is really weird.

Pros: This is a follow up review from my 1 egg review about a week ago. Things have changed that made me want to give a 3 egg rating. Since newegg won't let me edit my previous review this is my "5 egg" review for a net average of 3 eggs. Newegg finally came through with the CD firmware update after they had given me an RMA. I have not yet received the CD but I have decided to keep the drive anyway. The response may have been slow but they came through for me in the end. Bravo newegg - most companies would not put forth that much effort.

Cons: I attempted to use a different brand drive with similar specs and came to the conclusion that they were revirtually identical in playback quality and that the biggest problem I had was PowerDVD 10 and the other software solutions I had been trying to use. Still out of all the combinations I have tried, none can hold a candle to the upconversion I was getting with PowerDVD 8 and an old IDE drive on my old machine. A sad state of affairs for the optical drive market.

Overall Review: This drive will have to suffice until they develop the Bluray drive and software better and the prices for it come down. The 3 egg composite review is for poor customer service from ASUS and the fact that the drive is producing playback that is worse than 6-7 year old tech I had on my old machine. It is possible this is because I have not found the correct software combination but I have to believe the drive is playing its part.
