I love this thing!
Pros: I first thought about a cheaper model but would have had to upgrade the graphics card. The card included in this one is beefy enough (combined with the 8 GB of RAM) to run even new games beautifully. A couple of examples I’ve done are Deus Ex Human Revolution & Dragon Age 2: both look wonderful and run perfectly smooth at highest settings. Also: this runs so quiet I thought it wasn’t working the first time I turned it on. Lots of room for air flow inside, cables neatly tied together, and iBuyPower packs it extremely well. Best of all: no junky components; Asus motherboard, Western Digital hard drive, etc. No bloatware installed on the machine, which is so nice compared to mfgs like Dell. It’s also got plenty of room for expansion & is Xfire ready. Will I ever actually need to upgrade to the available 32 GB of RAM? Well, I can if I want to! This is a great new gaming rig for the price.
Cons: There is no special sound card included, only the one integrated with the motherboard. Not a big deal for me considering what you get with all the other components. And it should be noted that there is free space to add a new sound card if you want. I have seen a lot of complaints about the keyboards & mice included with iBP systems. Mine worked out of the box but I only used them to set up the system before hooking up my gaming keyboard & mouse that I already owned. They do feel cheap, but the type of keyboard & mouse included did not factor into my decision of what PC to buy. My feeling is that if iBP skimps on those peripherals and adds quality to the actual PC, I am OK with it.
Overall Review: This system replaced my over 6-yr old Alienware P4 and I love this new rig. I’m very impressed with iBuyPower. I'm also very impressed with NewEgg as this was my first purchase here. Blazing fast shipping: 3-day shipping only took 2 days.
Do not buy if your drive is larger than 2 TB
Pros: Very reasonable price. High quality feel, easy to set up, instructions included with how to connect new drive, and vertical stand included. This is a good option if you as long as you want storage more than speed.
Cons: This is not compatible with drives much larger than 2 TB and unfortunately there is NO warning about that anywhere in the product description. This is very annoying since other Rosewill enclosures specifically say they are only compatible with 2 TB or lower drives. It is not b/c of a product defect, just that apparently if you connect with USB 2.0 it will only show about 768 GB available. You just have to “know” that beforehand. There is a known issue with earlier versions of Windows not recognizing all the space in a 3 TB drive even if internally installed, but I am running Win 7 64-bit so that is not the issue.
Works as described, great price
Pros: Everything was easy to set up per the instructions in the manual. There are three ways to open the safe: with the fingerprint reader, combination pad (can go up to 8 digits) and the emergency backup of using the key. I did not have any issues scanning in my fingerprints. Got this on sale and am pleased with the purchase. It’s the perfect place for us to store our guns with our two small children in the house.
Cons: You have to hold your fingerprint in exactly the same way you did when you registered to open the safe. Also, the door sticks sometimes when I’m trying to open it, after it has been unlocked. These two things together could cause problems if I had to open the safe in a hurry.
Works great, can't complain
Pros: The Roku is my solution to home media streaming. I use it for Netflix and it is the perfect interface for streaming media from my PC using Plex, as well. Does both pretty flawlessly. This was a refurb on sale but the product is fine and works great. No strange marks or scuffs on the box or remote. Both look & work like new.
Cons: Every once in a while it will be sluggish for seemingly no reason when I am browsing items through the Plex app or loading a video. This is pretty rare, though, and even rarer are the times actual video playback stutters, freezes or is otherwise interrupted. Happens so rarely it is not worth subtracting an egg from the rating. I had a little bit of trouble syncing the remote with the player as it did not work right out of the box. A glance at the owner's manual solved everything, though, and it has worked fine ever since.
Overall Review: Love, love, love Roku. This is my second one. I have tried many different methods of streaming media in my house including blu-ray players, PS3, Xbox 360, and laptops. Roku is hands-down the easiest, cheapest and most efficient solution.
Better than my K-cup brewer
Pros: My wife & I stopped drinking coffee as much so she took our K-cup brewer to work. We started to miss coffee, though, because sometimes you just need a cup. I got this on sale and it was definitely worth it. I haven’t experimented too much with the temperature control b/c the drinks come out just right for me. I absolutely love the two-step brews, too. Our current favorite is mixing the mocha latte starter with Sumatran Reserve coffee. And of course, it also makes iced drinks, hot cocoa, etc. The option to choose a stronger and/or larger brew is great, also. I like making drinks that are slightly larger than the standard size.
Cons: You cannot currently buy V-cups in stores. This is not really a problem for me since I have always bought coffee, even K-cups, though the Keurig online store. They are cheaper and there is a larger selection there. Some people may find this inconvenient, though.
Exceeded all of my expectations
Pros: Bravely Default is an amazing RPG that channels the best of the Final Fantasy series without feeling like it is standing on its shoulders. It’s as if Square Enix drafted a team of long time Final Fantasy fans and let them put whatever they wanted into the game (except the name Final Fantasy in the title). I went in expecting a shallow time-waster that would feel like a FF5 clone. This is not true at all. My biggest surprise is how much I enjoyed the story and grew to like the characters. The overall tone is more lighthearted than, say, FF7 but B.D. still manages to deliver a fun narrative that keeps you playing. This includes surprisingly sharp dialogue and genuinely funny exchanges (such as Edea’s pronunciation of “Mrgrgr!” and her frequent bickering with Ringabel). The narrative is not the only thing that will keep you playing, though. Everything else is great, too, from the voice acting to the music, visuals & gameplay. The whole brave/default system is a brilliant idea which breathes new life into turn-based combat. It goes very well with the large number of jobs you can unlock.
Cons: Honestly, I can't think of any. This is a wonderful, wonderful game.
Overall Review: I could go on for quite a long time naming all the features I love about this game, but suffice it to say that you will like it if you are an old school Final Fantasy fan or a RPG fan in general. If you already have a 3DS it is a must play and if you don’t have one and like RPGs, you should think long & hard about getting a 3DS. If Squeenix is going to continue sinking the FF series into the toilet (looking at you, FF13), then B.D. is a wonderful start for a new series that can be its successor.
