Nice Enclosure

Sabrent USB 3.0 to 2.5" SSD/SATA External Hard Drive Aluminum Enclosure, Black (EC-UK30)
Sabrent USB 3.0 to 2.5" SSD/SATA External Hard Drive Aluminum Enclosure, Black (EC-UK30)

Pros: Great price, simple design, I had it set up in less than a minute. Smart looking design and it comes with a leatherette pouch for protection. I may be getting more of these.

Cons: There’s nothing really wrong with this, except for the USB “a” style Jack on the box. This box requires a USB cable that has the “A“ connection on both sides, which may be difficult to find A replacement for. It would be a better design to use a micro USB cable with the attached power. But this works and it works well.

Overall Review: The device and the attached cable has the ability to transfer USB 3.x, sometimes enclosures like this will only do USB 2.0. Which makes this enclosure all the more useful.

Does NOT work for HASP!

Sabrent 6ft USB 2.0 to DB25F Parallel Printer Cable (USB-DB25F)
Sabrent 6ft USB 2.0 to DB25F Parallel Printer Cable (USB-DB25F)

Pros: Ok, this heap is good for one thing: Connecting your old Parallel Printer to a new PC. The moment you plug it in, it detects all the hardware it needs for Printing. But nothing else!

Cons: Unfortunately, this does not work for Parallel-Port HASPS, Especially Aladdin. Simply does nto detect the Hasp.

Overall Review: I am still looking for a way to plug my HASP into a USB or other port. It seems to be a futile search so far, fortunately it only cost me about 16 bucks so far. There has GOT to be a compleat USB to Parallel Port converter, that performs all the functions of a Parallel Port.

Great price and quality product

16GB 2x8GB Memory SuperMicro MEM-DR380L-HL03-ER13 X8DT3, X8DTL
16GB 2x8GB Memory SuperMicro MEM-DR380L-HL03-ER13 X8DT3, X8DTL

Pros: This was basically half price at the time that I got it, which was a really great deal. These ram sticks have a heat sink right on them, most of the time ram sticks don’t have a heat sink

Cons: Didn’t work with my machine, but that wasn’t the fault of the seller or the manufacturer of the ram, my Dell OptiPlex 980 simply can’t take 8 GB sticks it Hass to be multiples of four.

Overall Review: I hope I can find the same sticks but as 4 GB rather than 8.

Not as good as an EVO but the promotional price was great.

WD Blue 3D NAND 1TB Internal SSD - SATA III 6Gb/s 2.5"/7mm Solid State Drive - WDS100T2B0A
WD Blue 3D NAND 1TB Internal SSD - SATA III 6Gb/s 2.5"/7mm Solid State Drive - WDS100T2B0A

Pros: It’s a 1TB solid state drive that was offered, at the time, for an excellent promotional price. It is in warranty for four years, which is probably the most important thing and I am thankful for that. Contrary to what another reviewer has stated, I registered my serial number and everything went through as expected and my warranty is in effect.

Cons: Compared to a Samsung EVO drive, this drive falls way short. I had previously purchased a crucial MX 200 From a source that no longer exists on Newegg, The highest transfer score was about 269 for that drive. This drive does not perform as well as even that older crucial product. Which surprised me, I expected the performance to be a lot better than that drive. But after running a Performance Test with AS tools, I was not very impressed. Let’s get to the most important negative aspect: the support software for this product, The Western Digital SSD Dashboard. I downloaded the latest version from the Western digital website and guess what? It absolutely cannot be installed. So I googled for other sources of the installer, and I found a couple of earlier versions and they also could not be installed. Finally after searching for a length of time I found a version of 2.4.0.0 which was not a webstub (Microsoft uses Web stubs for dot net installations, but theirs work and Western digital‘s do not)- it was a full offline installer, 211 MB or so, The web stub installers are only about 4 MB which was a sign that the version would install, and it did. But I have no way of upgrading the product because every means of upgrading the dashboard provides me with a broken installer package. On the possibility that it was “just me”, I checked the Western digital support forums and I discovered a thread where this huge problem was being discussed, and it turns out that roughly 95% of every person that has purchased one of these drives has had severe problems installing the software. Some of them were able to get it installed after performing complicated procedures on their computers, I for one do not wish to jump through hoops to get software installed that should install. Western digital please fix your package, it is absolutely the worst software I have ever seen. One other issue is that the support software has no over provisioning, which is basically something that needs to be done with any solid state drive regardless of when it was made.

Overall Review: The drive is satisfactory, the promotional deal from which I obtained it was excellent, and I am happy with THE DRIVE. I am absolutely not happy with the non-functional support software installer package, Western digital please read your support forums and you will find a lot of people extremely unhappy with this software which cannot be installed. I don’t want to get emails telling me that I have to do this procedure or that procedure on my computer, I want to see a brand new package available that is not a Web stub, but a full off-line installer. I mean, the program is only 200 MB, why cram it into a Web stub? just give us the full offline installer for the latest version! Grrr.

Unprecidented Price, lasted 3 years

Hitachi GST Deskstar 7K1000 HDS721010KLA330 (0A35155) 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive
Hitachi GST Deskstar 7K1000 HDS721010KLA330 (0A35155) 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I got this when it was 27 bucks right after Christmas 2015. Yesterday, I hooked up my failing and flailing WD Blue and copied over the whole drive using Minitool Partition Wizard. I had the WD Blue in my freezer since before Christmas day to make sure I had enough time to copy the whole drive before it failed to read on my SATA bus. Mission Accomplished, so now I have recovered my system. Performance Test benches this drive at much better than the WD Blue. So far so good.

Cons: It lasted 3 whole years. But when it went. it went instantly bad. BUT, it was under massive and constant heavy usage. It was a Hitachi. These used to be "Deskstor" drives made by IBM. There has been some bureaucratic shuffling of company identities and that hurts the product quality. Lately Hitachi drives have been of the worst I have ever used, but I could not afford a Seagate or another WD Blue at the time. In fact I just had an older Hitachi drive fail miserably in a PC I built for a recent client- And fail irrecoverably. So I hope this drive gives me ample warning before it starts going "clickity click". (It did NOT, unfortunately). My Power On Time Count read 47902, I don't know if that is hours or other. Power Cycle count reads 29. But the unit IS refurb, But Hitachis don't have to be refurb to be bad drives. IN this case, they are either good, in which case they seem to be very good, or they were delivered as Coasters. I'd say RMA the things and get another.

Overall Review: It FINALLY Failed Irrecoverably after 3 years. Hell I'd buy another if they were offered for 27 bucks. But I was really am seriously worried about my Data. If offered for 27 bucks with free shipping, they are worth the risk. The drive, refurbished as it was, was solid, and benched out much faster than any other drive I've had in this PC, including 1 WD Blue and 2 Seagates. I hope that don't mean it will fail quicker. In fact, it indeed lasted longer than the two Seagates.

I'm positive this is a great drive

WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 5400 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZRZ

Pros: I ordered the 2.5" version of it, which got 500gb of data copied to it in just a few hours.

Cons: I ordered the wrong drive

Overall Review: I'll definitely order this again once I have a need for it (Which, with my hard drives failing left and right, may be soon) :(

Has been nothing but helpful

They had a product at an unprecedented price, but an error with my eyesight resulted in ordering the wrong item. They've been patient during a long drawn out return process which was the result of my mistake, not theirs. Will be ordering the item again when I need it.

Very quick shipping

Hopefully the drive will not fail, or if it does it will happen during the time when this device is under warranty. Other than that I was pleased to see that the refurbished hard drive had less than 100 operating hours on it, usually refurbished hard drives have a 2 to 3 years on their clock.
