So Far So Good

GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3P LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Dynamic Energy Saver Ultra Durable II Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3P LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Dynamic Energy Saver Ultra Durable II Intel Motherboard

Pros: Supports new 45nm Intel chips as well as the 65nm ones. LOTS of USB and firewire ports, and more SATA ports than you can shake a stick at. Heat sinks + heat pipe look pretty slick. The power-saving feature and motherboard LEDs to show CPU usage are pretty cool. Great bang for the buck. The long-life capacitors also sold me.

Cons: Only two PCI slots and one ATA controller. The BIOS detects my 2.66ghz processor as a 2.4, but when it gets into Windows, it reads it at the 2.66.

Overall Review: First board was a bit of a dud - had a strange delayed power-on issue with it. Exchanged it through Newegg, and the new one works like a champ. One last thought - if you're running Vista with this board, make sure you install the motherboard driver cd. Vista said it found all the drivers before I loaded it, but when I woke it up from stand-by, the system was stuck in a reboot loop. Loaded the cd, and all works well.

Good bang for the buck

Pros: Quiet. I was sick of hearing my super loud stock cooler and this is MUCH better. Also, it installs like a stock cooler in that you don't have to take the motherboard out to install it.

Cons: You have to remove the fan in order to screw the top part into the base (not a huge deal). It's also much taller than a stock fan, and I barely got it to fit in my case. Clearance was ok, but it was the non-removable metal bar on my case that goes right over the processor area that got in my way a bit.

Hey look! It's a power splitter!

Thermaltake A2369 11.8 in. Y Cable with Blue LED Light
Thermaltake A2369 11.8 in. Y Cable with Blue LED Light

Pros: First and foremost, it's longer than you're average splitter, which is what I was looking for. The added bonus? It lights up! The connectors that is. A nice hue of purple. And not too bright.

Cons: The initial male connector that does the splitting isn't quite as pretty as the two device ends. Only half of that piece lights up. Maybe I just got a bad one. But the end pieces that typically go to your HDD or DVD drive look real nice.

Overall Review: Best viewed from the side angle. I'm pretty pleased with it. I like that it's got a cool mesh covering over the wiring. Very Niiiice.
