The mistake you want to make

CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-650TX 650 W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply & New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready
CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-650TX 650 W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply & New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Clean stable power, a completely SILENT fan (and it's located where it should be too - over the CPU not in the back - yuck!), all the cables that most users will ever need (nice touch that the PCI-E video power cables have a split design compatible with the older plus the newer high powered video cards - Cheers to Corsair!). The clean black design, nice case labels (if you like those kind of things - I do ;-) ), nifty cloth sack it comes in (my wife loved it, women always need places to put *stuff*, men too so no sexist remarks please), and all cables nicely pre-laced for you (Doing that stuff myself is a pain). My dual 8800 GTS SLI setup only uses 420W at full/max load and that's with some heavy CPU overclocking too (I use a Zalman ZM-MFC2 - excellent device, pretty as heck but be warned it isn't readable unless your face is directly in front of it). This power supply with its single 12V rail design will be PLENTY powerfull enough for your build, don't let the 650W worry you.

Cons: Multiple power connectors on one line may frustrate some users (although if they were all on different lines it would make hiding unused connectors much harder), for those with full towers with devices scattered about it could be an issue, for those with mid/mini cases it's a non issue. This was not a con for me - It actually makes my Lian-Li case power layout much cleaner looking - I liked this design.

Overall Review: OK, I intended to buy the 750W version of this power supply but accidently got this one instead (not paying close enough attention to the bundle deal, Newegg changed it from the 750W to the 650W and I didn't notice - ugh!). At first I was very sad because it wasn't the 750W version and I almost returned it, but I'm glad I didn't as this was the PERFECT size for my build with not all the extra cables the 750W has (which would have just been hidden anyway), if you don't really need all the cables the 750W comes with don't hesitate to consider the 650W model, the 52amp on the 12V rail is more than enough for any dual SLI build with power to spare.

Awesome value - Awesome performance

CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF
CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF

Pros: Easily overclocked (5-4-4-4-13 @ 1066 no problem), stays extreemly cool even without the fans (although the fans are so cool who wouldn't want to use them), their multi-layered heatsink design actually works as advertised. The 2.1V helps keep the power load down on your build (the higher voltage RAM gives no better performance with a larger current footprint), and although I can easily increase the voltage to 2.4V without frying them there is no stability benefit so I keep it at a nice current/power friendly 2.1V doing my part to keep it green. :-)

Cons: Normally I can find at least one thing to complain about but I have met my match with these - they are flawless. Just a note to all, every DDR2 memory module running over an 800Mhz (PC2-6400) bus are overclocked and selected at the factory to do the higher speed, they don't make DDR2 chips to go natively above 800 (you need to go to DDR3 for that), so don't expect to get overclocks widly above 1066 with these or any other DDR2 memory modules.

Overall Review: The black mesh lacing on the fan assembly is a nice touch (plus the fans are highly adjustable from 2000 rpm to 5400 rpm, almost silent at the highest speed). The price for these is so low (heavy Newegg discount plus the rebate) I thought they'd be just average, however I was dead wrong - these memory modules can run with the big boys (plus it looks way cooler than them too). If you've decided to stick with DDR2 until DDR3 matures (smart move - fyi) these are what you've been looking for - highly recommended.

Lot's of bang for your buck

MSI P7N Diamond LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard with SoundBlaster X-Fi Extreme Audio
MSI P7N Diamond LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard with SoundBlaster X-Fi Extreme Audio

Pros: Easy overclocking, 2 custom bios profiles you can save to (makes tweaking easy and foolproof), latest v1.1 bios fixes most of the complaints you read about in the 1.0 bios (although 1.0 worked fine for me, new version gives actual values for overclocking instead of arbitrary ones, plus if you're using alot of USB stuff v1.1 initializes it much faster, i.e. faster bootups). I'm running dual 8800 GTS cards in SLI, an Intel e8500 CPU (overclocked to over 4Ghz) with 4GB corsair dominator memory all without a problem (if you're a Vista user you'll love that it auto recognizes all the hardware). Vista 64, Vista 32, XP Pro SP3 all installed without a hitch (I have a multi-boot system). The cmos clear button is a must have for overclockers, and the SoundBlaster X-Fi Extreme Audio works fantastic (I was suprised). If you want to stay away from DDR3 (because DDR2 is so inexpensive compared to DDR3, with little benefit to it right now) you have found the right board, clean layout and pretty too!

Cons: The placement of the floppy drive connector is puzzling, probably the only thing about it's layout I didn't really like (although it worked out OK for my build, I just ordered a longer than normal round silver cable that could be routed nicely in my Lian-Li case). Non standard values given for some of the SMB stuff (like the 12V for example) makes using 3rd party software (like SpeedFan) more complicated to set up, but not impossible.

Overall Review: The 2 e-sata ports in the back PLUS an included bracket that will bring 2 more (plus power - wow!) is an excellent feature for those with large raid/storage requirements, nothing is faster than e-stata for an external drive/device. If you like to do RAID stuff this board is highly flexible (even allowing you to include IDE drives with sata/e-sata drives in your RAID build, Amazing!). If you're an avid overclocker the MSI support forum for overclockers is awesome, they even make special bioses for the hardcore overclockers (you should be highly competent before playing with custom bioses though, don't say I didn't warn you). The automated driver/bios update software is a nice touch (although it doesn't support Vista 64 at this time you can use their web based version until it does). Not enough review space to go over all the features of this board but suffice it to say there are alot, and they all work great. :-)

Excellent IDE drive that does it all

Pros: Smooth burning with a does it all attitude, you get all the standards out there (does anybody actually use DVD RAM? duno but it has that too) including Dual Layer and LightScribe (tuff finding a decent drive with both those features). Works great with Alcohol 120% software. If you need an IDE burner look no further - this is THE drive for you, cheers ASUS! As usual Newegg shipping and service was/is outstanding, drive got here in one day (unit was located in a local warehouse here - woohoo!).

Cons: Software is barely adequate, the outdated Nero 7 included is best avoided.

Overall Review: The included white face plate is a nice touch (your next computer upgrade may be a different color sheme), makes it much more versitle going forward (maybe in a few years you'll sell it online, can't say where because Newegg wont allow it - lol, but you know where I'm talking about and having both colored plates should make it an easier resell). It would be nice if they included a more recent version of Nero (although Nero 7 will work fine for the casual user), however I'm assuming doing so would raise its cost (which would be bad).

Fast and dependable drive

SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive
SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Installed the drive in an external enclosure to use it with our HD DVR for movie storage. Drive is always on 24/7 and has been for 10 months now solid. The drive is quiet (the fan in the enclosure is louder, but even when the fan is off you can barely hear the drive) and has been a smooth player of movies on our HD DVR. Not one hiccup, the drive has been flawless. Highly recommended for video usage. With the low price of this drive you'd be making a mistake passing it up. With the large 16MB cache and SATA 3.0 you're future proofed too, this drive is a DEAL.

Cons: nada, nothing, nope!

Overall Review: I wouldn't be to paranoid about the posts of failed drives, all hard drives eventually fail (so ALWAYS have a backup of your important data). The 3 year warranty is outstanding for a drive of this size at this cost.

Excellent Value - Gamers Beware

Rosewill RP550-2 550W ATX12V v2.01 Power Supply
Rosewill RP550-2 550W ATX12V v2.01 Power Supply

Pros: Looks pretty, stable power, quiet, reasonably priced, that about sums it up for the short version. Unit has been running 24/7 in a lightly loaded computer for 5 months now without a hiccup. Overall an excellent value for the price

Cons: Split rail design prevents the usage of some video cards (18A is the max the unit can do on a single rail and many newer video cards require more). Make SURE you check the max current required for your video card before you buy this, especially if you're a heavy gamer (this is not the best power supply design for game computers, excellent for general purpose usage though)

Overall Review: Good solid design for the general purpose user, a single rail design would be preferable for high end video cards. There are posts about this unit's longevity, all I can do is wait (I've only got 5 months on it) before I can say anything on that.
