Intel 660p performs as advertised and it is inexpensive..9/7/2021 7:26:53 AM

Pros: High-capacity at fair price. Very good performance. Low power consumption for use on laptops.

Cons: Low rated endurance.

Overall Review: Excellent option for day to day tasks. Enough write performance for office work, web browsing and light content creation.

Very good motherboard with many features and options...USB disconnects ruins the experience9/7/2021 6:50:26 AM

Pros: Pretty solid motherboard Beefy power delivery. More than needed for this platform and BIOS settings. The VRM had so much headroom that they run cool even with a Ryzen 3950x. Error code display, very useful when troubleshooting hardware. Dual M.2 SSD slots. 7 fan headers. USB type-C port and front panel header. 2.5GB Ethernet M.2 WiFi dedicated slot available. Attached rear I/O shield RGB header Every advanced memory configuration you could think is in the BIOS Black and white camouflage goes well with either white of black components.

Cons: USB disconnects in the middle of a data transfer, which could kill a USB hard drive. High priced for a B550 chipset. With a rebate it is deal. Limited CPU overclocking options in the BIOS. ASRock should have gone with lesser VRM to offer a lower price. Update: I contacted ASRock support and after several weeks I am still waiting for a RMA confirmation.

Overall Review: Tested with 3700x and 3950X and Ripjaws V 32GB (2x 16GB) RAM 3600MHz. XMP selected in BIOS to allow RAM to run at 3600MHz otherwise it runs at 2133MHz.

Good battery powered camera, but very bad setup implementation.6/9/2021 8:16:28 AM

Pros: When you get it to work it does the job. Long lasting battery. Easy to mount.

Cons: It only works with 2.4GHz WIFI. If you happen to have a mesh WIFI system, it could be a bit difficult to setup this device. The instructions on the included manual did not work. The instructions on the app are different than the steps in the literature. I had to reset the security camera seven times before I was able to get to pair with the app. On both, manual and app mentions that the status light should blink faster when ready to connect to WIFI or when connecting. That never happened. The status light was blinking at the same rate even after each reset.

Overall Review: If you have the patient you could get this LaView Security Camera setup. If you do not have patient nor the time there are better solutions out there. I have 8 LaView cameras and they required 3 different apps. Those fingerprints you see on the camera (uploaded photo)...that's how it arrived and the box was sealed. To set up this camera on a WIFI network that does not allow to select the 2.4GHz band, either disable the 5GHz band in the router settings until you are done setting up the camera. Also, you could move far away, as far as the 5GHz is not longer available ( weakens) and only the 2.4GHz is available. The 2.4GHz band usually reaches farther than the 5GHz.

A Fast USB flash drive that could open a bottle.6/4/2021 4:51:48 PM

Pros: A Fast USB flash drive that could open a bottle and a box...what else do you want. Inexpensive. It hits advertised write speed. Even faster read speeds. Well built

Overall Review: CrystalDiskMark test showed 76 MB/s write speeds. It was able to reach 88 MB/s writes speeds on Windows 10 over USB 3.1 and 81 MB/s on a MacBook Pro.

It worked for 2 months and Acer doesn't stand behind their product.12/19/2020 1:52:27 PM

Pros: Very good response time and input lag. Very good refresh rate. Excellent viewing angles. Wide color gamut and Adobe RGB in photo editing. It does support HDR. VESA-mountable.

Cons: Send monitor to Acer for repair and it was returned with the same issue plus scratches. Not very good contrast ratio. Blacks appear as dark greyish on some areas of the display. Contrast ratio not that good when watching media on a low light or dark room. The stand only allows tilting.

Overall Review: I purchased this units when it was released. There wasn't any reviews available but on paper it looked like a very good display. Two months after purchasing it developed vertical flashing lines. Newegg intervened and handle it with Acer (Thanks Newegg). The monitors display flashes and goes black for a second after it was returned the second time.

A downgrade from the WD Red 3TB I got several years ago.5/4/2020 10:56:12 AM

Pros: None

Cons: Slower than the WD Red 3TB WD30EFRX models I got 5 years ago. Louder than previous WD Red 3TB .

Overall Review: I purchased 4x WD Red 6TB to upgrade my NAS. I went with WD because of past WD reputation. Now, I cannot longer trust WD, since it will be hard to know which drives are better than others. Shame WD.

Very good product, that could be excellent with some minor changes.6/18/2019 9:20:00 AM

Pros: Easy to install and it works out of the box. Very simple to backup video footage. It lets you choose what areas you don’t want to activate recording. The IP cameras appear to be of good quality with a good field of view. The video looks very clear. It worked fine on Windows browser, Android phones and iOS devices. I was able to see all cameras clearly in home network and away from home network (remotely) on both Android phones and iOS devices (iPhone & iPad). Very easy to expand the storage on the NVR. It works with other ONVIF-compliant IP camera brands. Night vision is ok for the price of the system. LaView has many, easy to follow, step-by-step instructions videos to make setup easy.

Cons: The fan on the NVR sounds like a jet. I can hear it clearly even 35 feet away from it. They should have a temperature controlled fan. It drove me crazy until I replaced the fan with a quiet Noctua NF-A4x20 fan. (soldering required/ warranty void). The weather jacket to protect the Ethernet connector on the IP cameras cannot be used, unless you cut the Ethernet connector from the included cables, then insert the Ethernet cable thru the jacket and finally install a new Ethernet connector. That requires tools that many do not have. The IP cameras comes with the model number in a sticker, that says " Warranty void if removed". Three of the stickers were already off the cameras and stuck to the plastic bag. If the stickers came off before I even touched the IP cameras, what would happen to those stickers when I install the IP cameras outside and they are exposed to Mother Nature.

Overall Review: The video color did not look natural out the box, but it could be configured for each IP camera on the NVR. Make sure your router has the required ports open for remote viewing. You need to configured (add) your device twice to LaView app, one time for home network and another for remote (away from home) viewing. If you don't know what to do, then watch some of the many videos LaView has available on Youtube. You will need an extra SATA data cable if you install a second hard drive. If you want better night vision you will pay twice as much... minimum. I have seen some leaving negative reviews because they don't know how to setup remote viewing. Read, watch the step-by-step instructions videos or get an expert to set it up for you. Some routers/modems are blocking the ports need to access your NVR system.

Runs @ 3200MHz with errors on ASRock AB350M Pro4and Ryzen 5 16006/10/2018 9:46:39 PM

Pros: Low profile Corsair reliable history. Matches all dark components Can run @ 3033MHz free of errors Installed and system booted first time.

Cons: If I enable pofile 2.0 @ 3200MHz, PC boots but freezes at times and Memtest86+ had 1074 errors by 2nd pass. I don't know if is ASRock issue or AMD or Corsairs.

Overall Review: I have purchased Corsair products thru the years, since they are reliable. Have another set of RAM working just fine Have two PSU and one has been running for more than 6 years. Force SSD running without issues. Hydro H100i v2

Great cooler at this price. If it fits on your case, it's really hard to go wrong with the CM Hyper T2.1/17/2017 2:16:42 PM

Pros: Great performance. Inexpensive Direct-contact twin-heatpipes Quite Nice fan bracket Nice packaging makes it appear like a premium cooler.

Cons: None

Overall Review: I had some height restriction on a Vivo Micro ATX case and the Cooler Master Hyper T2 fit nicely. I was not expecting the performance improvement over the stock CPU. AMD Phenom X4 9950 2600MHz Black Edition 125W Idle: 26° / Fan speed 1296 RPM (inaudible) YouTube (1080p) on a Chrome tab : 39° /Fan speed 1786 RPM (very quiet) Load (Prime95 Blend Test): 49° / Fan speed 2455 RPM (quiet comfortable humming). Very good security with extra tools and features.9/1/2015 11:58:09 AM

Pros: Compatible with several platforms (Android, Mac and PCs). Got a perfect score from AV-Test and top scores from other labs. Very good price if you are protecting 4 or 5 devices. It comes with anti-theft features for your Android device. When you lock a device it automatically transmits location every 5 minutes and snaps a photo every 10 minutes (smile thief). Devices can be mananged (add & remove devices) Online. Excellent at removing and cleaning infected systems. I think it has one of the best phishing and firewall protection. According to Symantec website if they cannot remove a virus they will refund the purchase price. That's a way to 'put their money where their mouth is.'

Cons: It can get expensive if you are just protecting a couple of devices. If you renew by entering a key it will remove your remaining days. You could open a chat and have the time added back but I think I should not have to.

Good cameras, system unreliable at times.8/25/2015 3:47:17 PM

Pros: Very cheap Easy to setup. Could be monitor from computer*, and mobile devices (Android & iOS) remotely. Only one cable per camera.

Cons: Email alert might not work depending on email provider. I could not get Microsoft Outlook or Google Gmail to work. The system cannot find hard drive at times, or it thinks the hard drive is not formatted. May have to reboot system hard drive to go back online. Only works with Internet Explorer in Compatibility View, there is not support for Chrome or Firefox. The software (Zviewer) to access live video and recordings needs work. Cameras won't refocus if system is reboot in the dark.

Overall Review: If you want a reliable system look elsewhere, but you will pay a higher price. Make sure to open the package and setup the system and test cameras before installing them. Even thought the system is cheap, I do expect the features included to work as they should. On a computer you will have to use Zviewer or Internet Explorer since the NVR is not accessible with Chrome nor Firefox.

If weren't plague by bugs, it could be the best robot vacuum.7/5/2014 8:40:48 AM

Pros: Powerful suction, picks up dust, hair, dirt particles better than Roomba. Cleaning schematics are very good. Cleans very close to walls, corners and furniture. Cleans fast, like I would clean, straight overlapping lines. HEPA filter to block out allergens Easy to remove brush roll to remove hair. Could setup schedule cleaning. It does returns to its charging base when battery is low, then goes back to cleaning.

Cons: Too many bugs/errors on a finished product. -‘My vision was blocked. Please press OKAY (3000)’ -‘Please press OK to restart. Battery issue (0002).’ -‘Cleaning suspended while charging’ in middle of room away from charger. -‘Please wait while I recover my position’. I waited and it failed to recover its position. Even under warranty you will have to pay to get the unit repair. Batteries do not whole charge and degrade very fast. Sometimes it cannot find recharging station right in front of it. It get stuck by itself in the middle of a room and start going in circles like a drunk. It could clean better with edge cleaning brush to reach corners and floor edge. It should come with a remote control or a way to control it with an app. Taller than Roomba so it might not be able to clean under some furniture (sofa).

Overall Review: If you review this machine during the first months you will give 4 or 5 stars. I waited several months to post a review since it appears that after 4 months or so bugs start to show up. I purchased this unit so my wife would clean less during her pregnancy. Well it did not last so I became the vacuum. Roomba is more reliable unit.

It revived an Optiplex 7606/4/2014 7:52:46 AM

Pros: -Price If you could get it for less that 100 bucks. -Reliable Have been using the same model in a HP laptop without issues. -Fast As fast as other more expensive units when performing daily tasks (Booting system, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat, browsing, file searching, etc.).

Cons: It couldn't install itself. :)

Overall Review: What a difference a SSD makes. No longer RAM is the poor men performance booster. This 4-year old Optiplex 760 with a dual-core Pentium and 2 GB of RAM runs faster on most daily tasks, than a brand new Optiplex 9020 with more RAM and faster quad-core CPU.

Light output equal to a 26 watt spiral CFL4/15/2014 6:05:16 PM

Pros: -Light output equal to a 26w spiral CFLs but it uses 6.5 watts...I can feel them $aving energy already. -Four of these LED bulbs use as much energy as 1 CFL bulb. -I like that it is not as white as the Collection LEDs I purchased previously. -Very good size, it doesn't stick out of the top of chandelier.

Cons: -The base gets hot, as hot as the CFL the they replaced. -Higher price than incandescent or CFL bulbs

Overall Review: The GE spirals CFLs I replaced lasted more than 5 yeras so I do hope this LED will last at least twice as long....time will tell.

Big screen, space saving unit4/3/2014 2:50:53 PM

Pros: -Very good price -Very easy to setup.Attach stand with thumbscrew , connect power cable, keyboard & mouse... done. -Big 1080p touchscreen, it looks like a TV display -Good way of introducing Windows 8 to users. -Space saving design and light -1TB Storage -Card reader -CyberLink PowerDVD and Power2Go included -Can be upgraded fairly easy. -LAN & WiFi connections.

Cons: -Could become sluggish when pushed to its limits. But for the intended use (kids PC) is more than enough. -Lack of USB 3.0 - I would have liked an HDMI in - 1 MP webcam. An extra megapixel would have help a lot. - I would gladly pay not to have McAfee (McRappy) bundled.

Overall Review: Very good system for Kids room or users that do not demand a lot of performance.

As fast as more expensive units.4/3/2014 12:46:56 PM

Pros: -Advertized speed. As fast as Samsung 840 Pro 256GB in real user scenarios. I cannot tell the difference between the two, unless I run a benchmark or use Photoshop… where Samsung beat OCZ by a second. -SSD bracket included. -Acronis TrueImage HD included (as a download) -Excellent price ($145) when in sale (The main reason I took the plunge) Good regular price . -It arrived with latest 2.0 firmware

Cons: I am a little concerned about its reliability. It also had a $15 rebate which I never got (-1 egg). Where's my money?

Overall Review: -I was very reluctant to order an OCZ SSD drive, since when it comes to reliability OCZ didn’t seem to have a good grasp on the technology. -First time I don't get a rebate. I was supposed to get a $15 rebate card and I after 10 weeks I have not received anything and I did follow all steps as instructed and kept copies. Took one egg for that reason, otherwise 5 eggies.

Very good price. It won’t break any speed records4/3/2014 10:32:30 AM

Pros: Inexpensive, can’t be the sale price of $13.50. Small size won't interfere with any other device. If the drive is formatted as NTFS it does perform a little faster (18MB/s)

Cons: It could be hard to get it out of a USB port. Slow when compared to other USB flash drives. If you pull the drive by the lanyard it will break the ring... I made that mistake

Overall Review: I got the Team C12G 32GB drive for one purpose: Fill it up with music and plug it into the vehicle USB port. It does serve this purpose very well. I was able to transfer music files around 14MB/s. I transferred a 3GB video file, for the heck of it, and it did not go above 9MB/s . If you are looking for speed get something else.

Very good protection, light on system resources1/25/2014 8:04:39 AM

Pros: -Very good protection overall. -Pretty fast installation. -Very light on system resources. -Identity Safe (password & forms management ) and Norton Family (parental control) included. -Identity safe can be used on any device even if you do not have Norton Internet Security installed. No more password and form filling, it does it for you. -Norton Management allows to manage Norton products from one location

Cons: -Cannot stop some browser hijackers and ransomware from getting into the system and the other top antivirus can't stop them either. Use common sense. -Kind of difficult to install in a virus infested PC.

Overall Review: -Expensive (I always wait till a deal when price is below $35 ) -If you enter a new key before the product expires it will work as a new subscription and time remaining will be gone. You could open a chat online and the support staff will assist you in checking your subscription status and adding the missing days. To avoid the hassle wait till subscription expires to enter a new key or renew subscription thru Norton (it cost more).

Good switch but there are lower priced units that perform better.7/13/2013 3:22:05 PM

Pros: Inexpensive way to add four more ports to a network. No setup or configuration needed, just Ethernet cables to plug it to your devices. Set it and forget it. It automatically negotiates speed depending of the speed (10, 100, 1000) of your connected device. Very good construction and very sturdy even though is small and very light (5 ” x 3.6” x 1.5”). Runs cool and silent (not fans) Could be left on a desk or mounted on the wall. The switch is very fast when transferring small and single files (130MBps +) or browsing the Internet, but is not as fast as similar priced and lower priced units (TP-Link, Netgear, D-Link, Rosewill) when transferring large files (1GB +). I was able to transfer 1GB (1,075,669,410 bytes) folder with mixed files in 18 seconds flat from a Windows 7 system to a Windows 8 system…and transferring a 3GB (3,228,209,949) folder took 56 seconds. It gets interesting: Transferring the same folders above from a Windows 8 system to Windows 7 machines takes longer (23 seconds and 1 minute 8 seconds respectively). The same happened when transferring the folders between two Windows 7 systems. It did not matter that one of the Windows 7 machine had a Samsung SSD Pro. I perform the transfer six (6) times, different cable from several ports with the same results.

Cons: There are other units with lower price tag that do perform better (TP-Link, Netgear, D-Link & Rosewill). LEDs lights bleed through the case, which makes hard to know which LED is blinking

Overall Review: This is an unmanaged switch (plug and play) that simply allows Ethernet devices to communicate with one another (PC, NAS, network printer, etc). It does has a fixed configuration and do not allow any changes to it like a router would allow. You will connect this device to a router to expand your network. Tested with CAT 6 patch cables (up to 24' ft). Devices connected: Desktop/ Dell E6400 laptop/HP Envy i5 Ultrabook/ D-Link NAS All devices connected supported gigabit Ethernet.

Slim drive runs fast, cool and quiet with very simple to use backup software and it works on both Macs and PCs.6/17/2013 8:16:44 PM

Pros: Seagate Slim for Mac works on both Macs and PCs and it does fit in a shirt pocket with room to spare. 3 Years warranty (most external drives comes with 1 year only) Fast USB 3 speeds. It took 27 minutes to backup a system with 115GB of data and I was able to transfer a 2.6GB movie file in 31 seconds. It took me 4 times longer to transfer the same file via USB 2. The Seagate Dashboard is simple to use backup software. Since this drive is geared towards Apple Mac users and it is formatted with an EFI file system. The drive won’t appear as another drive would under the Computer folder. It will show though under Disk Management when you will be able to change the file system to a Windows compatible format. Seagate has Windows software (Paragon HSF+), to allow this drive to be mounted and to be assigned a drive letter in Windows without having to reformat or changing the file system on the drive. You will be able to have full read and write access on both, Mac and Windows system. Everybody wins. The Seagate Dashboard app for Mac works on Mac OS 10.6.8 or higher version only, but users with that version will prefer to perform backups with Time Machine instead. Seagate should have included a version for users of earlier versions of Mac OS (10.4.x), since those users do not have backup software to rely on. Seagate Dashboard has three features: Protect, Share and Save The Protect feature will allow you to backup all your data to the drive and keep it up to date whenever you make changes. If you want more control then you could select a Backup Plan, where you could choose which folders to backup and how often (Hourly, Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Continuously). The Share feature allows Facebook, Flickr and YouTube users to upload pictures and videos (other files are not selectable). After selecting the files you will be able to choose the album or create a new one where to upload your files. Even though I have Facebook and YouTube accounts, I am not an avid user and I found it is easier to upload files using Seagate Dashboard…. Who knew! But, you won’t have the options YouTube offers like title, tags, category, description, etc. If you are a Facebook, Flickr user and you post photos online without saving them first, then you will love Seagate Dashboard Save feature. After entering your Facebook and Flickr credentials it will save all your photos to a folder on the Seagate drive by pressing the Facebook of Flickr dashboard. Furthermore, you could select Auto Save and every time you login in it will check and back up any new files you have uploaded to the site.

Cons: 500GB might not be enough to backup your Mac using Time Machine, even if your system drive has less capacity. Short USB 3 cable. To open the box you might need a knife to break the seal. Jeez!

Overall Review: When installing Seagate Dashboard on a Windows 7 PC I got the error: “There is not disk in drive. Please insert a disk into drive A:”. Just hit the continue button and the installation will go on. I tried in two other Windows system with no errors. Weird! Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 redistributable x86 and x64 might install and a reboot might be required.

Looks to blend with many cases and well priced.5/20/2013 3:27:00 PM

Pros: Great looks that matches and blends with many cases. Simple and functional design with sliders instead of knobs. 30 Watts per channel can handle powerful fans. The five slider are flushed with the facade Black long cables. There will be no issues reaching fans anywhere in a case. Very good quality and excellent price.

Cons: LED light bleeds thru the slider next to it.

Overall Review: If you want your fans running even at is low setting, then make sure your fans are capable of dropping a bit under 5V and still are able to run. Used with CM Storm Scout 2 and it blends perfectly with the case as it was made for it.

CM Storm Scout 2 Advanced: Very sleek, clean design and very well built case5/16/2013 12:29:12 PM

Pros: -Rubberized handle makes this case portable (if you can handle around 30 pounds) -Drive installation is a breeze …tools not needed -Supports a 240mm radiator on the top. -The top cover could be removed, which helps during build up -Fans run very quiet and do move air. -Front ports are covered by sliding door. -Two 2.5” adapters and each one can hold two 2.5” drives -Top hard drive cage panel could be removed to allow extra-long graphics cards. -Plenty of holes and space to re-route all your cables. -I like the fact that LED lights could be turn off.

Cons: -Reset button is too big and could be pressed by mistake. -Case fans could have been of better quality. -There is space for larger 140mm fans but only 120mm fans supported. -For the price you could get a better performing case. I got it a discounted price. -Rear fan makes a weird noise at mid speed. It does not happen at low or full speeds. -If you have more than one graphics card you might need another case to cope with the extra heat.

Overall Review: Even though I play games, I am not a fan of a look at me….you can see me from a mile away…bright color …alien shaped cases. I prefer the clean lines, sleek design of the Scout II and other similar cases. Some of the flaws of the Storm Scout were address, like the top side panel fan which interfere with a tall heat sink or even a water cooler in the rear. Even though this a very good case, it could have been even better with better quality fans or 140mm fans. Cooling is very good even when running overclocked components (i5-2500K @ 4.41MHz and Radeon HD 7870 XT @ 1200MHz). At 100% system load the temperature in the case was around 36◦ C (97◦ F), CPU 42◦ c (107◦F) and graphics 56◦C (132◦F) with all fans below 900 rpm. Adding two more intake fans to the case side panel lowered temperatures by 4◦C. The CPU is water cooled (Kuhler 920 on rear) and the rear fan was move to the top of the case as exhaust. I am using the NZXT Sentry Mesh Fan Controller to keep the noise down and it matches the case fascia very well.

It works out-of-the-box5/15/2013 10:50:46 PM

Pros: -It works out the box within seconds of plugging the adapters to electrical outlets. -It performed as well as more expensive units. -Small profile, as small as my smartphone charger and it won’t block an adjacent outlet like the ZyXel PLA-407 which is 3x bigger. -It even worked plugged into a power strip. -It plays nice with other brands. I was surprised to find out that this device works with another POE brand. I have left the other brand plugged to an outlet and unexpectedly lights went on when I plugged the TRENDnet. I was able to use both brands and there was not even a noticeable difference in performance when working together. I tested the device for several days browsing and streaming movies. You might not see any differences compared to a very good wireless connection or even when connected to a router. Transferring a 155 MB folder with several files took an average of 21 seconds from location 1 (main circuit, one floor down) and 29 seconds from location 2 (basement two floors down on subpanel) Transferring a 3.38GB file took an average of 7 minutes 12 seconds seconds from location 1 (main circuit, one floor down) and 10 minutes 27 seconds from location 2 (basement two floors down on subpanel). It took half the time to transfer the same files over wireless N (150Mbps).

Cons: I was not able to stream a HD movie form a NAS while downloading a file online. Playing became choppy and even stopped. I was able to accomplish the task over wireless N (150Mbps).

Overall Review: This is a very good solution when a wireless signal is weak or non-existent. If you stream movies while downloading files you might need a faster 500Mbps unit. Windows 7 was used and all devices had Gigabit Ethernet.

TP-Link TL-SG108 delivers.3/29/2013 8:04:45 AM

Pros: Inexpensive way to add more ports to your router. Fast. I was able to transfer a 2.05 GB file (2,208,559,104 bytes) in 39 seconds from a NAS to a HTPC. That translates to 54Mb/s and it was even faster, up to 167MB/s when transferring smaller files (200MB- 600MB). The only thing keeping this back is the rotation speed of your hard drive. Set it and forget it. No setup or configuration needed, just Ethernet cables to plug it to your devices. Solid steel construction and very sturdy even though is small and very light (6 ¼ ” x 4” x 1”). It automatically negotiates speed depending of the speed (10, 100, 1000) of your connected device. Silent and it runs cool. There are not fans so you could place it on a closet even in your bedroom (the port lights will help to illuminate your closet :)). Could be left on a desk or mounted on the wall.

Cons: None

Overall Review: This is an unmanaged switch (plug and play) that simply allows Ethernet devices to communicate with one another (PC, NAS, network printer, etc). It does has a fixed configuration and do not allow any changes to it like a router would allow. You will connect this device to a router to expand your network. D-Link Cloud Router (DIR-605L), a work in progress3/14/2013 5:58:15 AM

Pros: Easy to setup. After turning on the D-Link DIR-605L router it could be setup from laptop, desktop, iPad, Android tablet or Android phone. After connecting to the router (wired or wireless) the D-Link Easy Setup Wizard comes up when opening a browser. You could also type its IP address (192.168.0.1) to access the wizard. There are two choices: Automatic or manual setup. The automatic setup takes 4 steps and it can be done in a 1 minute. The wizard makes it very easy to enable WEP, WPA, or WPA2 security and create a password to protect your router settings since it does not come with one. The manual setup will give access to an array of features : Router Settings (configure/ change the internal IP address) DHCP Settings (DHCP Client List, DHCP Reservation, Parental controls) On the advance features you will find: Port Forwarding options, Application Rules options, MAC Address filter options, Traffic Control, Firewall & DMZ rules, UPNP, etc. Because of the price of this router I was not expecting to perform as well as it did. It performed better that an equally priced unit (Linksys E1200) and performed as well as units that cost more than twice (Netgear 3700 2.4GHz band only). Of course there are several features missing like Gigabit Ethernet, a USB port, guest network, WPA/WPA2 Enterprise or even IPv6 support. But most users might not need any of these features. While downloading files from other two devices I was able to watch a HD movie on a HDTV, one floor down. Movie files were stored on a NAS connected to the router. I was able to play movies stored on a NAS over WiFi two floors down without issues or lag. The router could be access over the internet from computers or mobile devices (Android & Apple) with mydlink app. By creating an account at mydlink you could manage some of the router features. A user could block internet connection to devices, view visited webpages by connected devices, reboot router. You could also access your files (music, photos, videos, etc.) on your network if you have a D-Link cloud device. You could do this even from your Android and Apple mobile devices (smartphone and tablets) with D-Link Cloud app. After setting up the mydlink account you might need to reboot the router to have access to it over the internet. I do not know if allowing access to your router settings and files over the internet qualifies a device as a cloud device. I have been able to that those things for years, when the only clouds I knew were in the sky. Updating firmware retains all previous settings.

Cons: To save changes the router reboots and it could take up to 90 seconds depending of the changes. But you can make all the changes you want then reboot once and save all changes on a single reboot. I was not able to see two devices (D-Link NAS and Canon printer) on the DHCP client list. These two devices were connected to the router via Ethernet wire but I was able to print and access the NAS. After rebooting router from its web interface or over the internet, the router refused to get a DHCP address from the cable modem, so any devices connected lose internet service. To get an IP address from the modem I had to do it manually or run the initial setup. Even though the router lose its DHCP IP address from the modem, it was still showing the green Internet light.

Overall Review: All these test were perform first with the 1.13 firmware (came installed on device). I updated the firmware to the latest available firmware (1.14) and perform the same tests with same results. I could not find any information available about the purpose of the new firmware. Wireless test were conducted from a laptop with Intel 5100 AGN and another with Intel Centrino N 2230 (100% transmit power).
