Great For LAN Parties and Streaming

Pros: I have a home media center PC, a printer, and four desktop computers that I connect to a Dual band N-Router TRENDnet TEW-671BR and cable modem via CAT6 cables. I stream my movies (HD movies) and multicast them to my laptop, so a good gigabit switch that supports IGMP snooping is important. I did notice a huge improvement in streaming content noticeably compared to my wifi. I hosted a LAN party at my home this past weekend and the gigabit connection to the media center PC, which became the game server, was much faster and absolutely no lag noticed with my hardline network. Here are the results of two simple ping tests with my wireless hardware and then this TL-SG105 with my CAT6 cable connections: OS: Windows 7 Pro 64 bit (V 6.1.7601) Wireless Router: Dual band N-Router TRENDnet TEW-671BR Firmware Version: B1.1R. Firmware Version: 4.00 Build 0034, 14 May, 2007 Wiress Card: TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Driver: TL-WDN4800 V1 TEST #1 (Ping Test results with wireless hardware) Reply from 216.52.208.185: bytes = 32 time<5ms TTL=128 TL-SG105 Motherboard Ethernet Card: Realtek RTL8111C - 10/100/1000 Controller TEST #2 (Ping Test results with TL-SG105 and hardline hardware) Reply from 216.52.208.185: bytes = 32 time<1ms TTL=128 As you can see the communication delay is much less with the hardline connection using this switch!
Cons: None
Overall Review: I’m not huge on the whole “green” technology. Most products that advertise “green” often have severe firmware issues like Western Digital’s Caviar Green drives; however, the fact that ports shut down when devices are off is a quick way to troubleshoot. Wireless technology has improved, and although I have a great dual band N router, there are some activities that require a hardline connection for the best network performance (lag reduction). This switch is great for LAN parties and streaming video content. EggXpert Reviewer
Slow RAID 0 and IDE performance

Pros: This is a great price for this board. I am updateding my review.
Cons: I am experincing very poor RAID 0 and IDE read/write performance. In RAID 0, my average sustained read/write speeds is 48 MB/sec. My 6-year old ECS motherboard (came free with CPU) with 80 GB drive beats it! My cheap PCI Promise TX2300 gave me an average of 109 MB/sec. I've updated the BIOS and installed the latest chipset drivers, but nothing helps.
Overall Review: This slow performance is really frustating me. I have contacted MSI tech support, and I hope to get this resolved. They have always been fair, and I hope to get this fixed ASAP.
Great Drive

Pros: This drive was a great boot drive. I enjoyed fast read/write speeds along with great boot speed.
Cons: After less than 2 years it failed; however, Patriot's RMA department was great. I called, placed an RMA over the phone, and got a hassle-free replacement in less than a week.
Overall Review: Patriot stood by their word. The drive did fail, but they honored the warranty.
Watch Out

Pros: I am an eggXpert reviewer, and I decided to buy this controller. it supports SATA3 support, but that is not much of a benefit.
Cons: You need a motherboard that supports UEFI in order to boot from drives greater than 2.1 Tb. You can format the drives using gpt, but without UEFI support, you are limited to just storing data as a secondary drive. The RAID stripe sizes are too small. Only 32 and 64 K stripes are available.
Overall Review: You have to install the drivers first and then connect the drives. My 2 TB drive was not recognized sometimes. If your motherboard was made before 2011, do your homework and see if there is a BIOS update that adds EUFI. There are no X58 chipset BIOs that support UEFI.
Very Bad

Pros: Not many
Cons: White, Washed-out graphics. You spend more time dead and looking for servers than you do playng. You join a game, and before you can do anything, you are dead. Way too much $. The user interface is too clutered. Steam has a much nicer interface. Far too many cons. I regret buying this poor game.
Overall Review: Do not buy this game! Waste of money.
Great Media

Pros: It's made by Verbatim and it will work with your drive. I backed up some photos with this BD-R LTH media, and it worked as expected. The price is dropping also!
Cons: None!
Overall Review: I've always had great results with Verbatim!
