Great Buy.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 - Core 2 Duo Conroe Dual-Core 2.13 GHz LGA 775 65W Processor - BX80557E6420
Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 - Core 2 Duo Conroe Dual-Core 2.13 GHz LGA 775 65W Processor - BX80557E6420

Pros: This chip is amazing. I currently run it on a Gigabye GA-965p-DS3 motherboard at 3.2ghz 24 hour Orthos stable. On the stock cooler that came with the cpu. I did have to bump my voltage to 1.425 in bios (1.38v actual) in order to get the chip stable at this speed.. but it screams.

Cons: My temperatures are a bit high at 3.2ghz(57C under load), the stock CPU cooler is a bit underpowered for this speed, so I would suggest getting an aftermarket cooler.

Overall Review: Wish I hadn't waited so long to purchase.. was waiting for price drops which didn't affect this chip to begin with. :(

Most Critical Review

Don't bother, it's garbage

NETGEAR WNDR4500 N900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Open Source Router - IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n
NETGEAR WNDR4500 N900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Open Source Router - IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n

Pros: Wireless speeds are fast. 2 USB ports for sharing printers or external hard drives. Looks nice..?

Cons: Lan ports to wireless is apparently broken. If I have the 2.4 band set to 450mbps, I cannot transfer anything any faster than about 10mbps to or from any hard wired machine to a wireless device. If I set the 2.4 to 54mbps, I get full speed, but I did NOT buy this router to get G speeds on my N connections. I don't even have any G devices in the house anymore, but even setting to N only mode I can't get faster than a 54mbps setting if I still want to use any hardwired devices. Oh, and don't forget the CONSTANT dropouts on wireless. I cannot stay connected via VNC to my laptop for more than 5 minutes without the connection dropping. I am so glad I got this thing super cheap instead of paying full retail price or I'd be extremely ticked off.

Overall Review: There is a test build of DD-WRT available for this router, which is MUCH better than the garbage Netgear firmware, however it still cannot overcome this wired>wireless connection issue so it must be a hardware problem. Going to stick with my WNDR3300 until these hacks get a fully workable firmware out for this router. At least the 3300 on DD-WRT is rock solid, I just really wish it had gigalan ports, which is the main reason I grabbed this 4500.

Dead after 5 years,

Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500 500 W ATX12V SLI Ready Modular Power Supply
Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500 500 W ATX12V SLI Ready Modular Power Supply

Pros: Was a great PSU for 5 years, before finally failing to power on the PC once a load kicked in. Powered a C2Duo E6420 @3.2ghz, 4 IDE HDDs and a Nvidia 8800GTS, being on 24/7, for a good amount of that time.

Cons: Always was a little noisy, and had it's random shutdowns which prompted me to replace it in my main PC with a Corsair unit. I have PSUs that are over a decade old that still work flawlessly, I was hoping this would be another one as I relegate my old PCs to HTPCs or various servers. With this one now dead, I don't think I want to shell out for a new unit just to power my hobbyist web server/game host machine.

Overall Review: I guess you could say I got my money out of it, but as I said, I have a collection of PSUs far older that are still working, and had just as much abuse given to them. The whole reason I went with a brand like Antec was in the hopes that this would far exceed the warranty period. But then, they sure don't make anything like they used to, that's for sure.

Good ol G.Skill

G.SKILL Sniper Low Voltage Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR2
G.SKILL Sniper Low Voltage Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR2

Pros: 1. 8GB, more than enough for majority of games. 2. Low voltage. 3. Low-ish profile for cramped spaces. 4. XMP 5. Made by G.Skill

Cons: 1. Not 16GB?

Overall Review: I can't say how well this RAM works for overclocking, as I do not do it myself, the gains are too minimal to bother. At stock speeds it works just fine and will be good enough for most of your uses. It's made by G.Skill, so you can count on it being quality stuff. I've only bought their RAM exclusively for years and have never been let down.

Nice case.

Rosewill Gaming Computer Case - ATX Mid Tower - Top HDD Dock, Side Window Panel, 5 Preinstalled Fans - BLACKHAWK
Rosewill Gaming Computer Case - ATX Mid Tower - Top HDD Dock, Side Window Panel, 5 Preinstalled Fans - BLACKHAWK

Pros: 1. Lot of room for a mid-tower. 2. Comes with 4 120mm fans and 1 140mm. Has room for even more. 3. USB2/3 front panel, pretty nice having 6 ports right at hand. 4. Completely tool-less, aside from hard drive cage removal and motherboard installation. 5. Will hold a 16" video card.

Cons: 1. So much mesh, hope you don't have a lot of pets or smoke. Will be cleaning it often. 2. Not a "fan" of the blue LED fans, at least they're not too gaudy. 3. Not enough space behind motherboard tray for wire management. You can get everything back there, but you'll be squeezing the rear panel on. 4. Tall for a mid-tower, barely fits in my desk and makes top ports unusable unless I leave it sticking out a bit. 5. Front panel audio connector is garbage. Like many say it is flaky. The problem I found is that the connector is too deep for a normal headphone plug. You'll notice if you press down on the plug, it will work.

Overall Review: For the price I got this thing on sale, I am pretty happy with it. It replaced a case I have been using for about 6 years now that was somewhat deficient in the cooling area. While I'm not fan of LED lighting, it doesn't look too "2fast2furious"-ish and I can live with it. Overall it is a very nice case for the price, and the expandability it offers is great. Remove the bottom hard drive cage and you can fit a good sized radiator in the bottom of the case for a water cooler. If it wasn't for the garbage front audio jack, I'd be perfectly happy with this thing. I have never had this feature before and was looking forward to it as I used to have to reach behind the PC to plug in my headphones when I wanted them.

1 word.. Beastly

Intel Core i5-2500K - Core i5 2nd Gen Sandy Bridge Quad-Core 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Intel HD Graphics 3000 Desktop Processor - BX80623I52500K
Intel Core i5-2500K - Core i5 2nd Gen Sandy Bridge Quad-Core 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Intel HD Graphics 3000 Desktop Processor - BX80623I52500K

Pros: This CPU is amazing, seriously the only Intel you should consider buying aside from the i7 2600K. Even then, you won't see much difference unless you do stuff like video editing, folding, or other multi-core intensive work. Running mine at 4.6Ghz with an old Rosewill 775 cooler I had on my C2Duo, temps don't go over 55C under load. With a good cooler, like maybe a Corsair H60 or H100, I could see 5Ghz being easy to achieve.

Cons: The stock cooler is garbage. Compared to my old C2Duo E6420's stock cooler, there is about half the metal in the heatsink, and the fan looks like complete junk. I didn't even bother installing it.

Overall Review: Running this CPU on a ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 board with 8GB G.Skill Sniper 1600 ram and a 4870x2 video card. My performance in games has almost doubled coming from the 6420 at 3.2Ghz. IntelBurnTest and Prime95 run for hours with no errors at 4.6Ghz even while playing a game simultaneously. This thing is a beast!
