very nice and slick keyboard
Pros: -usb charging, no need to hunt down AA or AAA batteries -very light weight -responsiveness is excellent, and the keys feel very nice and natural -lighted! fun! (can be dimmed or turned off) -media keys! -I use my personal and work laptop at the same desk. Now I just need 1 keyboard and can easily switch between them. I like this over KVM switches. I can also sync it to my phone. Have only used it a few times, but really neat. -does work with Linux. Following some guides online, you can get it to work. I have a script which I run to pair the device. Keyboard does respond inside of VMware. This pairing and communication comes from the host OS. If Windows is running VirtualBox with Windows or Linux, it works just fine.
Cons: -by default the media and special keys are enabled. Function keys (F1, F2...) are enabled by either A) pressing the FN + F1 key or by switching the configuration around on the software side. -no indication on the keyboard of low battery. After a few days of typing, if I do not put it over to charge then the keyboard no longer works. The indicator light is on, but no indication of low battery. -does work with dual boot systems. The device can be paired to three UNIQUE Bluetooth addresses. My plan was to use the keyboard with my Windows 7 work laptop, personal laptop with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12. I setup the pairing in Windows with the #1 slot. Boot to Linux, run the pairing commands with slot #2 and it works. Finish my work in Linux, come back to Windows and hit the #1 button. no connectivity. Nada. I did this about six times before concluding that there is something with the way the keyboard is configured. The random digit pairing is somehow associated with the remote Bluetooth MAC. If there was a way to specify the same digit pin with my Linux and Windows boots, then there would not be a problem. Have not found a way to do this.
Overall Review: gave 4 stars because it does not work with dual boot systems. Otherwise, 5.
basic wireless mouse
Pros: -works with Logitech unify system -wireless -simple AA battery
Cons: -accuracy and sensitivity is less than the previous usb mouse I used. Seems jerky at times. -feel is very odd. The mouse is smaller than the generic wired mouse. I have to curve my hand around to push the buttons and use a scroll. After about 15 minutes my hand feels like a claw
Decent monitor, fuzzy text for business work.
Pros: - Curved screen in a dual setup is amazing, helps with eye movement - Stand is fully adjustable and stable. Its amazing! Up, down, and tilt. Has full range of motion - Bezel is thin. Digital edge before bezel is sharp and clear - 350 nit / candela is great. Provides good lighting in low light, medium and bright light environments.
Cons: - Text use for business work, is fuzzy. I have a Mac and tried a second monitor at the same time to confirm it was the monitor and not some OS setting. I also tested on my second laptop (Chromebook) same issue with fuzzy text. The laptop screen produces clearer text than the monitor. Based on specs this should be a super high quality monitor. Don't recommend for office work with need for clean text and lines.
Overall Review: Good monitor overall, great in a dual setup. Don't recommend for business use as text can be slightly blurry.
awesome mouse
Pros: -really does work anywhere! Glass, uneven surfaces, wood, messy desks with paper and sticky notes! -super easy setup. going in about 30 seconds with Windows on first use. -LONG battery life. The two AA batteries last about 14 days without recharging -nice weight and feel. slightly smaller than the generic corded mouse, but has overall good shape -scroll button has two modes, one with click and one that is SUPER smooth like silk. -can work in Linux with a few commands to get the unify receiver recognized by the OS.
Cons: -requires Logitech Unify and can only pair with one receiver at a time. If you use multiple computers, you have to either move the USB unify receiver, or re-associate with a second receiver. -medium difficulty and annoying to get setup in Linux.
basic wireless keyboard
Pros: -uses two (2) AA batteries. plentiful and easy to find -wireless -description says mini, but there is a full keypad, function keys and media keys. Nice to have media keys! -Logitech unify capable -very light weight.
Cons: -connectivity is choppy. I paired it with the unify unit. You will be typing and then the cursor stops. A few seconds later the rest of my sentence is magically appearing out of the keyboard buffer. Happens very frequently. Can't hardly type a basic email without it happening.
Great inexpensive color printer
Pros: Easy to setup, removed from box, installed drivers and printed a test page in 30 minutes. Color laser with duplex with a general paper tray and a manual tray for special paper and envelopes. Prints general business document in crisp color. High yield cartridges are well priced. black at 6,000 for $80-120 and colors at 3,500 pages for $80-120 each. Better cost per page than HP. Printer comes with basic toner set, which is on target for the standard yield of 2,500 for black, and 1500 for color.
Cons: Does not have the standard computer lock. Most devices have this and I was surprised. GUI administration for the printer is not as intuitive as Hewlett Packard printers, but does have all the features you need. Neither of these are deal breakers, but interesting to note
Overall Review: The Brother MFC-9970CDW would be a good option if you also need copy and scanning. I will need to purchase a MFC with auto document feeder.
