Pros: As a straight NAS, these things perform very well. This new "workgroup" model benefits from the 2 ghz CPU and DDR3 memory as compared to the older DS211 with a 1.2 ghz processor and DDR2 memory. Make certain that you go to Synology's web site before you select a hard drive just to make sure it's compatible. The DiskStation is pretty generous with the number of drives that work with this thing. Full S.M.A.R.T drive support and rock solid notifications if ANYTHING is going awry. One of the few "set it and forget it" backup solutions I've ever used in the last 29 years in the business. Now if you want to go beyond just a NAS... that's where this thing really rocks. Using it at home or the office? There's tons of back up utilities and scheduling plans to choose from. Got an iPhone? You'll love this thing with it full iTunes server support. Special set ups are included for sharing music, photos and videos. Get the Apple App(s) for this guy and you'll have ALL you info right in hand. Need a down a dirty email server? How about auto backs to several different cloud services? Got a product to sell and want a good eCommerce website? Just choose it from one of the many packages included. The mySQL backend will be set up for you automatically, down load a Magento or Jumla or osCommerce template and you're on your way? Perhaps you're more into blogging, or how about a web base trouble ticket system? All packages ready for download and easy installation. There's a dizzying array of packages available from the management interface. This is my third unit I've set up for customers and I have NEVER had a problem with any of them. My personal one has been up for over a year with ZERO problems. Just a rock solid unit. I've had excellent support, Synology has a great Wiki and very active user forum. Tons of "How to.." info, white papers and YES the security on these boxes has been vetted quite well. My company is a PURE security company and I wouldn't use ANYTHING that wasnt' fully scrutinized.

Cons: Is it THE fastest rocket of a NAS? No. But I've got them in environments where they FULLY replaced our Windows domain server with a dozen people using it for ALL their shared space. Another is set up as a member of a Windows domain with no problems. Fully integrated into the AD. But the fastest NAS? No. But it performs well. Very well and any one of the add on features may make this box the perfect solution for you. Any you're going to be "thinking" a bit if you want to set up an LDAP server or get exotic with the PHP engine. Those are "big boy" toys and they'll take some thought to set them up correctly.

Overall Review: YMMV but I've had nothing but stellar success with this units. If you need even just one of the extra packages available it makes this one a no brainer to get. Outstanding value for the money.

Pros: Drive copied a new laptop's drive on to this drive and went from a 40 second to login screen another 12 seconds to load my desktop to about 14 seconds to boot and another 1 second to a desktop. Screams! Recorded 4 security camera feeds at 1024x768 and 20 fps simultaneously and the drive just chuckled at me. Is that all you got? Hardly broke a sweat.

Cons: Dead. Set it up on Friday a.m., benchmarked it with Perfomance test, used it all day Saturday installing software and then using it hard all day. I left it plugged in and sitting at my Windows 7 desktop but Sunday a.m. the laptop was powered down. Tried a reboot but got the notorious "OS not found". Went to BIOS and the laptop didn't even see the drive. I removed the drive and plugged it into another system and same thing. Plugged it into a SATA-to-USB enclosure and tried plugging it into a variety of systems but, again non of my system could even see the drive. As McCoy would say, "He's dead, Jim. He's dead."

Overall Review: Gave it a couple of stars just because it worked so well for those two days. And, eh... sometimes that happens. You just get a bad one. Generally, if you get it to run for a week it will run for years and years without a problem. Also know from experience that NewEgg will take care of it. I'll re-review this once I get the new drive.

Pros: Light weight but has good structural stiffness so it doesn't feel cheap. Lot's and lot's of room with plenty of fans that are pretty quiet. Looks nice with USB, audio and power switches easy to get at.

Cons: I'm not using a DVD burner or floppy disk drive and looks like it might get a bit dicey if you were adding those devices. I'm sure you can, it just doesn't look obvious as to how they mount in the case.

Overall Review: I'll be using these cases for my standard builds until I have a reason to change.

Pros: Comes with your data already at risk for destruction. Tired of taking a hammer to drives in order to avoid congressional oversight? You'll love this drive.

Cons: Used "Performance Test" and this drive barely benchmarked at 50% of promised speed/specs. First clone of my laptop drive failed. Second one copied but would not boot. Third attempt copied, booted and then failed 30 minutes later as it rebooted to a "No bootable device found message."

Overall Review: From that point never got any pc to even see there was a drive installed from within BIOS.

Pros: For this price point the sound is great and much loader than I would have thought.

Cons: Not a replacement for you home audiphile system but for adding better than basic sound to a workstation it's perfect.

Pros: This is a weird little device but I got it working in very little time despite the vague directions. There's several modes that you can set this up in. It can show up as a new SSID or you can duplicate your existing SSID as a range extender without having to switch zones. You can just plug it into the wall for power or you can additionally plug it in hardwired to a LAN connection. So lot's of flexability.

Cons: Yeah, the directions are a bit puzzling and their web site is more marketing oriented rather than "how to"/informational/troubleshooting. There is an iPhone/Android app for setting it up that can help... or can just add to the confusion of getting it working.

Overall Review: All "cons" aside... I did get it working as a repeater using my original WiFi ID and no ethernet connection. New devices would lock on to the new SSID and the TP-Link somehow retransmits to the original zone and worked flawlessly/invisibly. Just like magic! I later needed to redeploy it for a different environment and had to fight with it to get it to work so your mileage may vary with this product. But for $20 you can't complain about the price... and the signal coverage was awesome.

Obviously... from China. Took about 10 days to get my product but that's about par. Package was very, VERY well wrapped as it probably should be for international shipment. And a great price point! I would buy from this seller again without worry.

Took a little longer to get it to me than NewEgg's blindly fast shipping hence losing just a single egg. Packed well, good pricing... so I can't complain.
