Asus G20CB upgrade
Pros: -Replacing my 2TB HDD on my Asus G20CB with this for the main OS. The 2TB then became a bulk misc storage drive. -Samsung migration software was flawless and easy to clone my existing drive, took 1 hour for about 450GB to clone. Make sure you download the latest software from their website for the magician software as it won't recognize windows 10 if you don't, and then you can't enable RAPID. -RAPID when enabled, makes this thing FLY, it uses some system RAM for like a cache enabling super fast initial bursts. Maxed out the benchmarks at 6105MB/s sequential read, 5480 MB/s sequential write, thats not a typo either. -Easy install -Feels high quality -Great warranty and endurance ratings -Boot up is ridiculously fast and it was pretty fast before this upgrade.
Cons: -None so far
Overall Review: -I'll update this if necessary as only time will tell if the warranty is good and its endurance ratings are accurate.
I wanted to love this router, but hardware failure after 1 week
Pros: -Very very fast -Great throughput -Its ASUS -GUI is great -Wifi range is very good
Cons: -Router failed to boot after one week of useage, everything was running smooth and fast up until then. Sudden message of ip configuration change and needing to reboot in the browser when i changed nothing. -Upon reboot, it never booted at all, just solid power LED. Tried the 30-30-30 and event he ASUS firmware recovery tool, which i had to really dig online to get to work. Ethernet port will not ping from command prompt, or lots of packet loss. I'm actually surprised the firmware recovery connected and flashed, but still upon reboot, no boot. Just solid power led and boot looping. This points to a possible hardware failure.
Overall Review: If you look at other reviews of similar products you can see that this "new" class of 5300 and 5400 series routers are all having major issues. I'm gonna return and get my oney back and wait until the bugs are ironed out before trying to pruchase any 5400 class router again. The hardware and firmware is just too new still. Back to my netgear r7000 running merlin firmware and overclocked to run my home for now. And dont get me wrong i love Asus, I'm typing this on my G20CB gaming desktop. Get your stuff together Asus.
Worth it
Pros: -Epic POV in games and desktop settings -No major issues I can see -No dead or hot pixels -OC to 100hz no issue -G sync is amazing
Cons: -Minor IPS glow in all 4 corners (its not bad at all)
Overall Review: -On my gtx 970, Im still getting 55-70 FPS in BF1 on medium settings. Still looks amazing. -All my other games also run and look amazing -I also picked up a GTX 1080ti to go with this monitor, just waiting for it to get here.
DOA
Pros: -good spec sheet and would be perfect for what I need.
Cons: -Checked with multimeter, no power output at all. Disappointed as I have an EVGA 1000 G2 that I love. I might try a Corsair power supply next time. Refunding this one.
Monitor is great but dead pixels/debris behind panel
Pros: The monitor is wonderful at reproducing accurate colors. Gaming on this from a 144hz TN panel was night/day difference in picture quality. No performance issues but there are some major cons so far.
Cons: The monitor i received has either a cluster of about 6 dead (black) pixels that is very distracting or it almost also looks like debris behind the panel not quite like dead pixels. Its almost like a 3D black spot when you look at it, its hard to describe. I've contacted Pixio about an exchange for another one. I'd love to change the review to 5 stars because for the money it definitely deserves 5 stars for its performance and value, however based on the defect right now, I can't. I'll have to see how an exchange works out, maybe i can pay the difference of a pixel perfect monitor and not worry, we'll see.
Overall Review: I would recommend the monitor based on its value and performance, given they send you one without dead pixels/debris in the panel. My gtx 970 was kicking out around 65-75 fps in BF1 on ultra until i finish building my Ryzen workstation that this monitor is meant for.
Best case I've seen
Pros: -The looks, definitely the looks. -Very well packaged. -A pleasure to build in. -Attention to detail in the internals and accessories, definitely premium stuff.
Cons: -Nothing at all.
Overall Review: Bought for a new rig for a custom water loop with a Ryzen 1700x and a VEGA or crossfire VEGA setup when they come out. I already have my Intel system, and wanted a nice workstation, video editing, youtube channel workhorse. This is the pinnacle of that setup. The case is something out of a dream as far as looks, and everything is premium about it, gotta love the nice aluminum twang it gives if you tap on the front or top panels.
Initially was a one star rating as my package took very very long to get to the U.S. and once it was here it sat in a main hub for a few weeks and didn't move. It got me angry enough to leave a 1 star feedback as it was approaching 1 month to get to me. The items finally arrived recently and they look fine and function fine, so I'm changing my rating from 1 start to 4 stars.
Very very fast service
Shipped out same day as ordered and received the next day. Package was shipped locally in Houston to me. Excellent service.
